All it was right now was a small thing watching its host carefully, filled with guilt, and gauging his reaction.
[Host, I—] Shelly tried to explain herself, but Neville beat her to it.

[It is NOT fine.] Shelly protested.
Neville thought, not that it mattered anyway.
"No need to explain." He said, turning his face away.

"I said, no need," Neville said, sharper than intended.
Shelly went quiet for half a second. Then her eyes suddenly flicked past him, around the hangar, and the virtual walls.
Neville saw the genuine shock forming in Shelly's face. It seemed that she didn't know where he was.
[Host, why are you inside the game?] she said, panicking. [Did you lock yourself inside because you couldn't live your embarrassing reality? That's really smart.]
