Lilianna's mecha's great sword passed two meters above his cockpit canopy and close enough that the simulated air pressure shook Neville's mecha's chassis.
Neville quickly fired his heel thrusters at the absolute bottom of the drop and snapped back up. He used the sword's momentum against its wielder.
Neville's mecha rode the back-pressure wave of Lilianna's own swing in toward her torso. The right hand of his mecha grabbed the plasma blade off his hip.
Shhhing — VWOOOOM.
The blade ignited, a meter of white-hot energy crackling along its core.
Neville hit Lilianna's mecha's chest plating.
He hit it hard.
Plasma blade met chest armor with a sound. It was a deep, gut-shaking TONG-FWZZZZZT that flashed his HUD with a static fuzz.
The plasma's edge bit into the outer plating and slid two centimeters before it suddenly stopped.
Reactive layer engaged, but it wasn't enough.
However, it was still enough to make a dent.
