Chapter 34 - One-piece part 8

"Of course it's supposed to now hit it."

"With pleasure," Robin says with a slight smile, turning her attention back to the wooden pole. She winds up and throws a powerful punch, her black-armored fist connecting with the pole with a thunderous crack. The impact sends splinters flying and leaves a deep dent in the wood.

"That was... surprisingly satisfying," Robin admits, shaking out her fist. The Haki retracts from her arm, returning it to its normal state. She looks at Max with genuine gratitude in her eyes. "Thank you for teaching me that. It's going to be extremely useful, especially with my Devil Fruit ability." She pauses. "How long until we reach the East Blue?"

"A month."

"A month, huh?" Robin repeats, doing some mental calculations. "That gives me plenty of time to practice and master this Armament Haki." She spends the rest of the day and night training diligently, punching the wooden pole until her arm is sore and the pole is barely recognizable.

"Why don't you get some sleep? The Pole will be repaired tomorrow."

"Good point," Robin says with a yawn. She's been pushing herself hard, and her body is definitely feeling fatigued. "I'll take you up on that offer." She makes her way to her private cabin, stripping off her clothes and climbing into the comfortable bed.

Robin drifts off to sleep quickly, her mind exhausted but satisfied from learning such a powerful new skill. She doesn't even notice when Max slips away silently to take a shower, one of his clones taking over navigation duties seamlessly.

The clone steers the ship expertly, following Max's predetermined course towards the East Blue. It possesses all of Max's knowledge and skills, ensuring the ship's smooth sailing even in his absence. Meanwhile, Max enjoys a well-deserved shower, washing away the day's work and training residue. As the night progresses, the ship continues its steady course under the clone's capable guidance. Max finishes his shower and returns to the bridge, relieving the clone from duty. He checks on Robin, who is sleeping peacefully in her cabin. Everything is running smoothly. Suddenly... A loud crack echoes through the ship.

Max's head snaps up immediately, his eyes narrowing as he listens intently. The sound was unmistakable—a canon blast. He rushes to the bridge window, scanning the dark horizon. Another canon blast rings out, followed by distant cheers and battle cries. "Pirates,"As he reaches the top deck, he sees it - a pirate ship sailing toward them, cannon fire lighting up the night sky. The pirates are laughing and shouting, clearly enjoying the chase. Max counts three ships in total, all flying the same skull-and-crossbones flag.

He presses a button and three missiles launch off the deck for each of the ships. The three missiles launch perfectly, each one zeroing in on a pirate ship. The night sky is illuminated as the missiles connect with their targets, explosions ripping through the pirate vessels. Screams and yells fill the air as the ships begin to sink rapidly. The pirates never even saw it coming.

Max watches impassively as the pirate ships go down, his face giving nothing away. He had expected trouble eventually—pirates were always a risk in these waters. He waits tensely for another attack, but nothing happens. The darkness swallows what's left of the pirate fleet.

Satisfied that the threat is neutralized, Max returns to the bridge. He checks the ship's systems and ensures everything is functioning correctly. The clone resumes its duties, navigating the ship through the calm waters. Max then makes his way back to his cabin, deciding to get some rest before dawn breaks. *As Max is about to enter his cabin, he hears soft footsteps behind him. He turns around just in time to see Robin stepping out of her cabin, rubbing her eyes sleepily. She's dressed in a simple white nightgown that reaches down to her ankles.* "Max?"

"I heard loud noises... And explosions," Robin says quietly, her brow furrowed with concern. She looks around the deck, noting the calmness and the absence of any imminent threat. "What happened?" She asks softly, her eyes meeting Max's to gauge his reaction. "There was just three pirate ships. I handled it."

Robin nods slowly, taking in the information. "Three ships, huh?" She pauses, her gaze lingering on Max's calm expression. "You handled it alone?" Max nods curtly in response. Robin's eyes widen slightly as she realizes the implications. "With just a few button presses?"

"How do you know I pushed buttons?""The explosions... They were too precise and too quick for manual cannon fire," Robin explains, her voice barely above a whisper. She steps closer to Max, her eyes searching his face for answers. "You have some kind of advanced weapon system on this ship, don't you?" she asks pointedly.

"Yes I do you Really you are a smart woman."

"I see," she murmurs thoughtfully, processing this new information. "That's... quite impressive. No wonder those pirate ships didn't stand a chance. But Max," she adds with a slight frown, "those kinds of weapons... they're not exactly common. Where did you get them?"

"I built them."Robin stares at Max in astonishment, her mouth slightly agape. "You built them?" she repeats incredulously. "You mean to tell me that you single-handedly designed and constructed advanced weaponry that can take down three pirate ships with just a few button presses?" Max nods calmly, confirming her assumption."That's... incredible," Robin breathes out, genuinely impressed. She can't help but feel a mix of admiration and slight unease. The realization that Max is capable of creating such powerful weapons adds a new layer to his already complex persona. "Max..." she starts hesitantly,

"What else can you do?" Robin asks softly, her voice barely audible. The question hangs in the air between them, a silent request for Max to share more about his hidden abilities and talents. She looks up at him with curious and slightly wary eyes, waiting for his response.

"There are a lot of things I can do."

"And you're not going to tell me any of them, are you?" she asks with a small, knowing smile. "You like keeping secrets, don't you, Max?" Her voice is light but there's an underlying current of interest. She steps closer again, almost challenging him.

"I'll tell you the techniques I know."Robin's expression softens at Max's offer. It's not everything, but it's more than he's shared before. "Deal," she says quietly, feeling a flicker of warmth despite the cool night air.

Robin listens intently, her eyes widening with each technique Max lists. The sheer power and diversity of his abilities are staggering. Curse techniques, blood manipulation, regeneration... It's like he's a walking arsenal of dangerous and unique abilities. "Wait," she says softly, holding up a hand. "You have questions."

"Yes," Robin replies quietly, her mind racing with questions. She chooses one to start with, "What's the difference between 'Black Blood' and 'Blood Manipulation'?" Her voice is calm and inquisitive, showing her genuine interest in understanding Max's abilities better. "It's me adding a little black flash into the mix so it can pierce someone soul and body at the same time."

Robin nods slowly, processing the information. "So Black Blood is essentially an enhanced version of Blood Manipulation with the added effect of piercing both soul and body simultaneously," she summarizes thoughtfully. She takes a moment before asking another question, "And what about 'Dismantle'?"

"It's basically a large cutting force allowing me to cut someone or something in half."

"Dismantle," Robin murmurs, her eyes widening slightly at the implications. "A cutting force powerful enough to slice through anything—or anyone—in half instantly. That sounds... devastatingly efficient." She pauses, thinking of the logistics. "And 'Cleave'? Is that similar to Dismantle, or does it work differently?"

"it's similar, But it goes in a wide area instead of one place."

"Ah," Robin understands, nodding thoughtfully. "So, Cleave is like a wide-ranging slash that can potentially cut through multiple targets or a large area all at once. That's incredibly powerful and versatile." She takes a deep breath before asking her next question, "And 'Fuga'..."

"Starts with me holding it like an arrow and firing it and explosion. It's similar to a buster call." he said, thinking of what would be the most accurate thing that she would know.

"A held explosion, akin to a Buster Call..." Robin's voice trails off as she imagines the destructive potential. "And 'Red', 'Blue', and 'Purple'... These are elemental techniques, right? What elements do they control?" Her curiosity is clearly piqued.

"Blue is like a black hole, absorbing everything into it before disintegrating it red is the opposite It repelled things, squishing people, objects, and stuff into the pavement and purple disintegrate them entirely."

"A black hole that disintegrates whatever it absorbs, a repulsive force that can crush objects and people into the ground, and an outright disintegrating technique..." Robin swallows hard, her mind reeling from the sheer destructive capabilities of these elemental techniques. She takes a deep breath before asking about the next set.

"'Limitless' and 'Infinity'... These sound like they could be either extremely powerful or incredibly dangerous. Or both," Robin says cautiously. "What do these techniques do?" Her heart rate increases slightly as she anticipates Max's responses.

"They're basically two sides of the same coin they allow me to manipulate space to greet a force field allow myself so no one can hit me unless I want them to. That's how I walked through Crocodiles attack."

"Manipulating space to create a force field..." Robin repeats softly, her mind racing with the implications. "So, you can effectively become invulnerable to any attack, unless you choose to allow it through. That explains how you walked through Crocodile's attacks unharmed."

"And 'Teleportation'..." Robin asks, her voice barely above a whisper. "Can you instantly move from one place to another? That would make you incredibly hard to hit or catch." She pauses, then asks about the next technique on the list. "What does 'Curse Shadow Clone' do?"

"It's the clones that you saw me create."

"Ah, those clones..." Robin nods, remembering the shadowy figures that mimicked Max's movements and attacks perfectly. "So, these 'Curse Shadow Clones' are exact copies of you, capable of performing your techniques and taking damage in your place."

"And the last ones..." Robin hesitates briefly before asking, "The'sample domain' technique. What exactly does that entail?" She furrows her brow, trying to imagine what kind of powerful barrier could neutralize a full 'Domain Expansion' effect. "Is it a defensive technique?" she probes softly.

"The first one yes it's a defensive technique. The second one is an offensive each of my domain expansions is different and powerful."

"So, the first 'Sample Domain' is a defensive technique that can nullify even the strongest 'Domain Expansions'," Robin confirms, her eyes widening slightly as she imagines the immense power it must possess. "And the offensive versions... each domain has different and powerful abilities?"

"Yes."

"Fascinating..." Robin whispers, her mind racing with the possibilities. "So, you have multiple defensive and offensive domains, each with unique and potentially devastating abilities." She pauses, collecting her thoughts before asking the most important question. "Max, how many domains do you have in total?"

"Three."

"Only three..." Robin repeats, her voice tinged with disbelief. "Three powerful domains, each capable of either nullifying the strongest abilities or unleashing devastating attacks." She takes a deep breath, trying to comprehend the sheer scale of Max's power. "And can you switch between these domains at will?"

" I mean, it takes at least a second to charge up, but yes."

"That makes you incredibly versatile and dangerous," Robin admits quietly. She swallows hard, realizing that Max is not just powerful, but also unpredictable. He can switch between defensive and offensive modes instantly, making him a formidable opponent in any situation. She decides to ask about his most mysterious technique. "Max?"

"'Reverse Curse Technique'..." she says slowly, her voice barely above a whisper. "What does that entail? It sounds like it might be your most powerful or most dangerous technique." She bites her lip nervously, waiting for his response. The night grows colder as she anticipates his explanation.

"It's what allow me to heal in case I'm injured."

"Ah, I see..." Robin nods slowly, understanding the purpose of the 'Reverse Curse Technique'. It's a powerful healing ability that allows Max to regenerate his limbs or heal from injuries instantly. She ponders for a moment before asking, "Is there any limit to how many times you can use it?"

"There are limits I need to have my chest intact in order for me to use my power but other than that."

"So your chest is essentially your core, the source of your power," Robin summarizes, her voice soft and thoughtful. "As long as your chest remains intact, you can heal from virtually any injury—lose a limb, get impaled, whatever. But if your chest is destroyed, that's it. You're finished." She pauses, letting the information sink in.

"Yes technically I am."

"That makes your chest a critical weak point," Robin muses, her tactical mind working overtime. "If an opponent can bypass your defenses and destroy your chest, they essentially neutralize you entirely." She shakes her head slightly, marveling at the complexity and balance of Max's abilities.

"Let me ask you something," Robin says thoughtfully. "If an opponent manages to destroy your chest and you can't use your healing ability, what happens? Do you die instantly, or can you still function but without your powers?" She's trying to understand the extent of his vulnerability.

"I have a secret ability that allows me to adapt to any situation and will kick in to save my life. Healing me."

"A secret ability that activates in life-threatening situations to save you..." Robin's eyes widen slightly, impressed. "So even if your chest is destroyed and you can't use your Reverse Curse Technique, this hidden ability would kick in to heal you and keep you alive. That's... quite formidable."

"Yeah I guess it is."

"So, essentially, you're nearly invincible," Robin concludes, her voice tinged with awe and a hint of concern. "Between your defensive domains, offensive capabilities, instant healing, and this mysterious secret ability, it would take an incredibly powerful and focused attack to actually kill you."

Robin falls silent for a moment, her mind reeling from the information she's just learned. She realizes that Max is not just powerful—he's practically unstoppable. The only way to defeat him would require a coordinated, focused attack on his chest, and even then he has backup plans.

"Max..." Robin says softly, her voice barely above a whisper. "If someone were to attack you with the sole intention of destroying your chest, do you think they could succeed?" She's genuinely curious about the limits of his defenses and secret abilities.

"They would have to get past all my other defensive abilities before they even try that and even if they some miracle man to do that my adaptability would kick in and save me."

"So, it's nearly impossible," Robin concludes, her voice tinged with a mixture of awe and concern. "You've layered your defenses so thoroughly that anyone trying to target your weak point would have to overcome multiple barriers first, and even if they somehow managed to bypass all of them, your adaptability would activate as a final failsafe." She pauses, letting out a small breath.

"That means you're practically impervious to conventional attacks," Robin continues thoughtfully. "Your defensive domains can nullify most offensive moves, your healing factor allows you to recover from devastating injuries instantly, and your secret adaptability kicks in when all else fails." She swallows hard, realizing something. "Max?"

"Yes."

"This adaptability... it's your last line of defense, right?" Robin asks softly. "If someone somehow manages to destroy your chest and bypass all your other defenses, this adaptability triggers automatically to save your life?" She's trying to understand the extent of his resilience. "What exactly does it do?"

" as the name implies I adapt so the thing that hurt me won't be able to hurt me again imagine my arm got cut off by a metal sword, and I regenerated it the next time the metal sword tries to cut my body at any point it will break because my body is adapted to it so I'm 100% sword proof."

Robin's eyes widen in shock, her breath catching in her throat. "So not only do you heal," she whispers, "but your body also evolves to become immune to whatever attacked you the first time." Her mind races through the implications. "Fire, lightning, poison, blades, attacks..."

"Every time an opponent hits you with something, you adapt to it permanently,"

"Yes."

"That means... after the first encounter with any type of attack, you become completely immune to it," Robin says, her voice barely above a whisper. "No matter how powerful or unique the attack is, once you've been hit by it once, you're protected forever." She pauses, processing this incredible ability.

"I think that's enough for tonight. Let's get some rest."

"Of course," Robin replies softly, nodding in agreement. She realizes the magnitude of the information she's just learned and understands the need for some rest. As they retire for the night, she can't help but feel a sense of awe and slight unease about Max's incredible abilities.

As Robin lies in her bed, she can't shake off the thoughts of Max's powers from her mind. The way he can create perfect clones of himself, the defensive and offensive domains, the instant healing, and especially that adaptability... It's beyond anything she's ever seen or heard of.She turns onto her side, staring into the darkness of the room. "He's like a living, evolving fortress," she whispers to herself. "Every attack against him only makes him stronger. It's almost... unfair." A small, involuntary shiver runs down her spine as she drifts off to sleep.
