Chapter 171 - ???

"Amazing, aren't they?"

Appearing beside Feng Huo, Zhou Zhou spoke calmly.

"They are. Even I don't possess a single technique as well-rounded as theirs."

"But, they'll likely hit a limit the further they try to improve them."

"The difficulty of improving a technique of such complexity is unimaginable."

Feng Huo replied thoughtfully.

His years of pushing past his limit had given him enough knowledge on battle skills and techniques.

To clarify how difficult even improving simpler skills are, only one in a billion combat professionals ever created a skill that surpassed their original through training.

Most who succeeded did so by changing their battle class.

"How would you correct them?"

Curious about his new subject's perspective, Zhou Zhou asked.

"Rather than improving such an all-rounded technique, I'd have them create simpler techniques focused purely on offense or defense."

"Like mine."

Feng Huo answered without hesitation.

"That sounds reasonable."

Zhou Zhou nodded.

"But tell me, putting your techniques against theirs, which would react faster to variables in battle?"

He asked.

"If it's someone else using my techniques, then anyone of them would react faster with their technique."

"But if I'm the one using my techniques... I would react faster."

Feng Huo said confidently.

"How so?"

Zhou Zhou showed interest.

"I've eliminated the delay between switching techniques by being faster than my opponents."

"None of them have ever been able to counter it. Ever."

Feng Huo's voice carried quiet pride.

"You're really interesting."

Zhou Zhou said with a smile.

He was excited having such a subject.

"It's as you said, your techniques won't work for everyone."

"So why should my soldiers learn it when they could achieve better results with more complex techniques?"

"The difficulty of improving such techniques may be immense to others, but in my city, that isn't a drawback."

"You should know that."

His tone carried the confidence of someone who commanded overwhelming resources.

Recalling the influence of the Hall of Truth, Feng Huo understood.

"I get it. But I won't change my combat style even if improving more complex techniques is easier with the Hall of Truth."

"I have a feeling my techniques is the best fit for me."

He conveyed to his lord.

"It's alright to be different."

"There's beauty in diversity."

Zhou Zhou nodded.

Not long after, Sun Can, Huang Sai, and Monica left their ranches in five, twelve, and fifteen seconds respectively.

Being long ranged combatants, they did exceptionally well by lasting as much as they did despite battling within melee range.

Taking their place were Feng Huo, Remiel, and Jeremy.

"He's indeed fast"

Watching Feng Huo's battle, Zhou Zhou understood what he meant when he said he was faster than his opponents.

Despite retaining a strength level that was a grade lower than the undead knight in combat strength, he was still able to react fast enough to their attacks and in taking advantage of the gaps they left.

Forty-three seconds later, Man Nao and Qin We took a bow out.

At the end of the combat practice, Feng Huo recorded the longest survival time of three minutes and fifty seconds to his name.

Next came Lu Chong with three minutes and twenty-eight seconds.

Bai Yung followed with two minutes and eleven seconds.

Fourth place was totally unexpected.

It went to the vampire duo with exactly two minutes and four seconds.

Their combat style closely resembled Feng Huo's - in that they were fast.

The only reason they failed to reciprocate Feng Huo's run was that they lacked his reserve of techniques.

Next came Zhang Xiang, Hui Teng, Qin We, Man Nao, Remiel and then the archers.

Once the soldiers cleared the fog monsters after their practice, Zhou Zhou casually collected the corpses into his spatial ring.

"See you later."

He said before teleporting away with Lu Chong.

Not long after he vanished, Hui Teng also left to summon today's subjects.

.

Inside his sitting room, Zhou Zhou sat opposite Lu Chong.

"How's your progress?"

He asked.

Rather than answer directly, Lu Chong chose to demonstrate. He raised a finger and traced a line through the air.

!!

A rift tore through space.

"Such seamless integration of two space law aspects..."

"Amazing!"

Zhou Zhou's eyes lit up as he spoke.

Hearing his lord, Lu Chong froze.

'How did he know two space law aspects were merged?'

He thought, stunned.

The law skill he first comprehended belonged to the teleportation aspect of space law.

More precisely, it lay within a specialized branch - one that forcefully created a connection between two spatial nodes.

As a law skill, it was singular in purpose: to achieve its aim, and nothing more.

His law skill revolves around piercing his spear through space, and then reappearing instantly before its target, leaving no room to evade.

A sure kill law skill...

As long as the attack could penetrate its target.

The technique would fail against the kobold formations with Epic-tier strength level.

The reason is simple; his strength level is too low to bridge the gap between him and the formations.
