Luca's shoulders stiffened for the briefest moment when the voice reached him from behind, but the tension quickly disappeared as he recognized it. He didn't turn immediately, instead allowing the cool night breeze to pass through his hair while his gaze remained fixed upon the peaceful town below.
"Can't sleep?"
The voice came again, softer this time.
Luca finally turned his head.
The Saintess stood a short distance behind him, her long silver-lavender hair falling naturally over her shoulders as the moonlight illuminated her calm features. She wore a simple robe rather than the ceremonial garments she normally carried herself in, and without the weight of her usual presence, she looked less like the revered Saintess of the Holy Kingdom and more like an ordinary young woman who had also happened to wake in the middle of the night.
Luca gave her a faint smile.
"Apparently not."
