Chapter 14 - Invitation

"I remember! You were after my jiejie!" Muyan shouts, stopping him on his tracks.

He slowly turns his head and stares at her.

"Yeah, you are...Zixin, right? Sorry, I don't know you surname." she tells him.

"Heh?" he responds, dumbfound.

She walks up to him.

"I'm Lu Muyan, Lu Meiran's sister." she breaks it down to him.

A wave of uneasiness hits him hearing those name, making Muyan even surer. He takes a sip before talking.

"And?" he asks, now a bit stable with his posture.

"Do you still like her?" she asks him back arms folded.

"Whoa little girl." he scoffs out, smiling lopsidedly before continuing "I'm not here to stir up old stories."

"But I am." she replies confidently.

"And you think I would do as you say?" he spits back, expression stern, visibly agitated.

"Well....considering how you're reacting, you still have a pull towards her, maybe not strong like before but yeah there is something." she says, not leaving his gaze and as if him being uninterested in the topic doesn't bother her at all.

"Hey, I-" he gets cutt off.

"Give me your number." she blocks him.

He pulls a face of disbelief.

"Excuse me?" he asks.

She takes out a notepad from her bag and hands it to him along with a pen.

"Come on, write it down. You're in hurry and I'm also waiting for someone, won't want to miss them while chatting with you." she proceeds to order him.

"Seriously?" he exclaims.

"What does it look like?" she answers back.

"Listen, you're clearly not reading my point here. There's no use digging the past." he tries to explain.

"I am not talking about the past. I am focusing on the present and the future." she clears out.

"Oh and that includes me how?" he asks back.

Muyan takes a deep sigh before answering him.

"She likes you too." she calmly delivers.

Zixin looks like he just got hit by a car. His eyebrows go up and eyes wide.

"What?! No no no, that can't...I mean how....I was not.....you can't be serious, it surely isn't-" he keeps on going feral with awkward body language.

Muyan rolls her eyes a bit and talks again.

"She changed her number before going to the university soshe said once that she lost your number and couldn't get it again because she didn't know any of your friends or family." she says.

"Um, but I used to follow her in renren. She had blocked my ID two years ago almost. If she wanted to talk, she could have unblocked me." he replies.

Muyan pauses for a bit before continuing, very much on edge with his questions.

"Maybe she didn't realize it. Ah, you're giving me the number or not?" she says, first normally and then a bit annoyed.

He hesitates a bit.

"Aigh." he takes the notepad from her, starting to write his number.

Behind his frame, Muyan notices Mingxia, walking down the path, eating something. She tip toes to see if he has finished writing and as soon as he does, she snatches the notepad from his hands and runs away.

"Yah!" he calls out.

But she flees very fast from the scene and as the road turns, he loses sight of her. He keeps looking until she is completely gone.

"Weird girl. She forgot the pen." he mutters.

Muyan quickly catches upto Mingxia.

"Done already?" she asks.

Mingxia flinches a bit before realizing.

"Ah jiejie! you scared me. What are you doing here?" she asks, shaken.

"I waited. What's this?" she asks.

"Oh, this is their strawberry whipped cream crepe. It's so delicious, you wanna try?" she beams and extends the cone towards Muyan.

"No. Thanks." she politely turns down.

Mingxia shrugs and the two continue their way to the bus stand to go home.

(Dusk)

Muyan joins her parents. Two workers are also in the shop, helping out as they order.

"Ma, baba, sorry I'm a bit late." she says, entering the shop.

"Ah Muyan, I said so many times before that you don't need to come anymore." her mother nags.

"I insist. It's nice here." she replies.

The evening goes by very quickly with sells and arrangements until someone reaches their shop, coming out of a black Lexus LS460.

"Hello, I'd like to ask if white roses and pink peonies will be available the day after tomorrow?" the man asks.

"Hello sir, yes they will be available. Would you like to pre order?" Mr. Lu asks.

"I need an event order from you. 5000 pieces of both roses and peonies are required." the man informs.

They look at the man with a bit of awe.

"Sorry sir, this might be a little too much in such a short time." Mr. Lu answers.

"Oh, okay then I will go somewhere else." saying the man starts to leave.

"Sir! Wait a bit." Mrs. Lu stops him and whispers to her husband "What are you doing?"

"How can-" he gets cut off.

"We'll take care of it, sir. Please don't worry. However, we require a minimum 50% down payment for large orders. Decoration charges are billed separately." she explains to the man.

"Yes sure, no problem." he replies.

He completes the necessary work for ordering.

"Here's the invitation. You're all warmly invited to the event." he hands them a card before leaving.

"Thank you." saying Mrs. Lu smiles and places the card on the cashier desk before calling and informing all the people who work in their shop. She also informs the decorators and Mr. Lu leaves to talk to the flower suppliers. The shop suddenly picks up pace.

Muyan opens the envelope.

"Castle Peak Road, Tsuen Wan, opposite of Tsuen Wan Car park?" she reads out. "Birthday Party?"

Confused, she reaches her mother.

"Ma....isn't it near our home?" she asks.

She takes the invitation from Muyan. Upon reading, she speaks with recognition.

"Oh! It's the Ming family."
