Chapter 20 - Are You Really Going to Leave Already?

It didn't take long to put on the same clothes.

When she finished dressing up, Nova's voice from the other side of the door stopped her.

"Alicia? Are you finished bathing? Can I come in?"

"Sure, darling, come in." Alicia opened the door to let Nova inside. He was also dressed in the same clothes.

"Did you wash up already?" Nova asked as he entered the bathroom. "I just remembered that we don't have any spare clothes."

Alicia nodded with an embarrassed expression. "Yes, we don't! That's why I think we should buy new clothes as soon as possible. After we're done eating breakfast, we're going to ask Gregory for a place to buy some stuff."

"Sounds good. We also need to figure out our next destination. It doesn't look good to keep relying on Gregory's kindness like this."

"Of course, we won't overstay our welcome. After buying what we need, we'll start making our way towards our next destination." Alicia stated as she and Nova exited the bathroom.

Gregory was waiting for them when they came out and greeted them with a smile. "Morning! I've prepared breakfast for you two. Let's eat."

They nodded in unison. "Thank you very much," Alicia expressed her gratitude before the two followed him to the dining table.

"Gregory, do you know a place where we could buy new clothes and other necessities for our journey?"

The old man stopped eating to reply. "There's a shop nearby that sells those kinds of things. You just have to take the main street north for a few minutes, and it should be to your left. But are you really going to leave already?"

He looked at Alicia with an uncertain expression on his face, like he didn't want her to go just yet.

She had given him pleasure in the bath, but that might not be enough for him, it seemed.

"Yes, we don't want to impose on you even more. And like I said before, we need to find a new place to live and work before settling down. Somewhere like a town where there are lots of opportunities to do that. Do you know any town like that in the surrounding area?"

"Hmm, well... I would suggest you take the road east of here until you reach a town called Sissar. It's quite big, with lots of adventurers around and plenty of job offers from both residents and people coming through. There is a local adventurer's guild as well as a branch of the adventurer's association in it, so you should have plenty of choices on how to earn money."

Gregory paused for a second to eat a piece of bread before continuing. "The downsides are that it's far from here and not easy to reach, as well as having a lot of bad elements roaming about. But you are lucky that there's a merchant caravan going to Sissar, so if you're fine with sharing a carriage with other people, it will be easy enough for you."

"Really? That would make things much easier for us!" Nova beamed at the information. "We'll need to leave as soon as possible too. If you're willing to take us to this caravan of merchants, that is."

"Sure, I can do that for you. I might as well join the caravan too; I haven't been there in a while, and I have some business in Sissar myself. So eat your food before it gets cold, and then we'll prepare to go!"

After finishing their meal and helping with the dishes, Nova and Alicia went to buy some new clothes and other essentials such as travel bags, some blankets, and cooking utensils.

Nova had many coins of all values in his inventory, which they used to purchase everything.

It was only then he realized that the amount of money he carried was quite impressive. But he was more impressed by how many goods one coin of silver could buy.

That kind of money could buy an average family a month of food with many things left to spare.

Nova wondered what a single gold coin could buy. He had many of those in his inventory too, but he would not use them until they absolutely needed them.

It would draw too much attention, and that was the last thing Nova wanted for his new life in the world of fantasy he found himself in.

Alicia was happy to buy a beautiful blue dress from the town tailor.

It was an expensive thing with frills all around and embroidered flowers in the middle.

But it made her look like a proper lady, not to mention the skirt of the dress reached her knees while exposing some skin to cool her body off.

And best of all, there was a pair of beautiful white stockings to accompany the outfit.

When she tried them on, she couldn't help but stare at her own reflection in awe.

"My, I look really good in this!"

When he saw Alicia wearing that dress, Nova had to agree with her.

"Indeed, you do, Alicia! I'm not sure if I should let you out of the room, though."

They both chuckled at his remark before Nova moved to try his new clothes on himself.

It was just a simple gray shirt, brown pants, and sturdy leather shoes, but the quality was quite good for their price.

After a brief shopping spree, the two joined Gregory to go meet the caravan to Sissar.

"There you are! We've been waiting for you! I thought you were going to stay in this little town forever," Gregory laughed at his own joke as he approached them. "It seems that you bought some new clothes as well, eh? You two look quite different in those."

Alicia smiled and twirled around playfully while showing off her new dress and stockings. "How about it, Gregory? Isn't this dress quite lovely?"

"Haha, you should ask that to your husband there, not to me. But yes, it does suit you a lot," the old man complimented before turning to introduce them to someone else.
