Hours after having dinner with his family, Roy snuck out of the house. He made sure to lock the door before leaving for the Black Market.
"As much as I want to explore the Black Market, it's too dangerous for the current me."
Roy didn't dare stay around the Black Market for long. He just wanted to sign in to the Black Market and leave. Roy did just that before turning around and leaving.
The Black Market had many shady characters. There were gangs, and even Team Rocket, who had a hand in these places. Roy was fast when he used Aura to enhance his speed; thus, he arrived home in minutes.
Once he was in his room, Roy sat on his bed and checked his sign-in reward.
[Congratulations, you've received: Black Market App QR Code!]
A card appeared in his hand with a QR code on it. The card reminded Roy of the gift cards in his previous life. It had dark, shadowy figures on it that only revealed red, mysterious eyes. The card was Grey, and at the top, it simply said; The Black Market.
"These are not cards that are just given out; it might even be illegal to have them, though I doubted it. I'm not sure, but I'm going to use it anyway. I want to see what this is all about."
Roy pulled out his Pokédex and scanned the QR code. The screen took him to another location, asking him if he wanted to download The Black Market App.
Naturally, Roy downloaded it. This process took him 10 minutes to complete.
Opening the App, Roy was met with terms and agreements about keeping his identity a secret. The App guaranteed him that it could protect his location and identity. The App also warned him not to tell anyone about his identity, or there could be danger.
Roy agreed to the Terms & Agreements. Now, Roy needed a Username, as anyone would expect. He simply called himself [Mysterio], and his Profile picture was a question mark.
The App told Roy how to use it when selling, purchasing, and trading things. To get what he was selling, trading, and purchasing, Roy needed to use the Pokézone.
The Pokézone would allow him to sell, trade, buy items, or even Pokémon from the Black Market. Selling Pokemon was illegal, but the law never said anything about buying them.
Roy went to the online Black Market and was shocked and excited. He saw Pokemon, items, berries, and many other things for sale, trade, and even people putting up requests for items or Pokemon for trade.
There were even special requests for certain Pokémon, Held items, berries, Pokémon Eggs, and other rare things.
"It seems the location is regional. I have to pay if I want to have access to the Global Market Trade." Roy found that he could only interact with people in Kanto, exclusively.
Roy searched for Pokémon and found some Charmander up for sale or trade. Some people were requesting a specific type of Charmander, like a boy Charmander, or it must have a certain talent. Some want it as an Egg, and some bold people requested a Shiny Charmander.
The System automatically scanned any item for authenticity. This system was like a smart Artificial Intelligence, and couldn't be fooled.
Roy speculated that this Black Market likely had some backers, such as Silph Co and other financially influential investment firms.
"I'm as poor as a lonely ghost. I can't afford anything on this market." Roy was simply a window shopper here. Not wanting to tease himself further, he exited the App.
Roy hid the App inside a locked folder on his Pokédex, which required a code to access. Afterward, Roy went back to sleep, satisfied with his sign-in reward, even though he was broke.
Roy could only sigh before storing his Pokédex and going back to sleep. His only thoughts before drifting off were his potential sign-in rewards.
Roy had overslept this time, but he could smell breakfast from his room. His siblings, particularly his younger sister and brother, were preparing it.
He still stayed asleep all the way to 11 am.
"Alright, it's time to get up." Roy stretched, went to the kitchen, and found that the house was empty.
"Oh, they went to the center of town. It seems those guilds will be arriving to hand out Pokemon at 12 PM." Roy had guessed they had gone there, and the letter left on the table confirmed it.
"Nice! They left my breakfast in the oven." Roy opened the oven and found that there were eggs, bacon, and jelly toast.
He ate his breakfast before heading off to take a shower. Roy surmised that he should be able to make it before or as they arrived.
"Alright, time to moisturize and brush my teeth." After a nice hot shower, Roy quickly moisturized before brushing his teeth.
Roy stretched again and left his home for the center of the town. At this point, it's already 11:51 AM, but Roy's speed is faster than that of the average adult male.
Within 2 minutes, Roy had arrived at the center of town. The place was packed with people, mostly those around his age. These ages ranged from 13 to 17, and they were all talking among themselves enthusiastically.
"I can't believe it; those three guilds are showing up to sponsor some young trainers." The youth, who looked around 14 or 15, spoke. You could practically hear the jealousy in his voice.
"Ugh! If I had been selected by the Regulas Guild, I would have chosen a strong Snorlax!" This youth was practically green with envy.
"Stop dreaming. If you want a Snorlax, then go find one and catch it. A bunch of future nobodies trying to ascend to heaven in one step? Truly ridiculous!" One of the youths who had been chosen sneered. Hearing these paupers complaining with envy, he couldn't help but gloat.
"Damn it! Don't act arrogantly, Haren, because you were chosen. Because you have the lead on us doesn't mean you can keep it." Many youths pointed at Haren in anger; they despised this arrogant guy.
"A bunch of good-for-nothings. Just stay in Pallet town for the rest of your lives and be farmers, there's no future for you." Haren roared with laughter, seeing their expressions, which were uglier than a crying face.
Many youths clenched their fists, but this only made some even more determined. Roy knew this Haren guy; he was always arrogant and so full of himself. His parents had money, at least way more than the usual citizen in town.
Roy surmised they may have a bit of connections in Kanto, which allowed Haren to be sponsored by a guild.
'Where are they? There are so many people around here. Ah, right. I should be able to detect their Unique Aura signature with Aura.' Roy closed his eyes and activated his Aura. However, before his senses could find anything, the crowd roared in unison and disrupted his search.
'What the hell!' Roy looked up and saw the three guilds standing next to a long table in the middle of the square.
Next to each guild faction, there were different crates with Pokéballs within them. The Regulas Guild stood on the far left, the Paradise Guild in the middle, and the Mystic Guild on the far right.
"We will call the ones that have been chosen, so listen closely." A woman from Paradise spoke through the speakerphone.
"Ryner! Please come to the Regulas Guild table." Afterward, the people from Regulas called someone over. Regulas had the lowest number of sponsors, so they naturally went first.
"Laura, please come to the Paradise Guild table." Soon after, Paradise called someone over.
Roy cut through the crowd to get closer. He wanted to see everything, so he wasn't blocked by the few teens and adults who were taller than him.
Ryner chose from his options, and Ryner's choice was a Tauros.
"Can I summon and see it for myself?" Ryner's hands were shaking with excitement, but this only made the other teens' hearts bleed with envy.
"You can, but it must be over there. We don't want you blocking the next person we call up." The man pointed elsewhere, hinting for him to not summon Tauros near here.
"Right, right!" Ryner quickly left the square, and Roy and a few people who knew Ryner followed.
"Come Out, Tauros!" Ryner quickly summoned Tauros with a smile on his face.
Tauros appeared in a huff before turning to Ryner. It was a young Tauros despite its size; its appearance was healthy, and it was clearly well fed. Its coat of fur and hair was well groomed.
Many of the other teens who followed sighed and wondered why people's life paths were so different.
Roy looked closely and saw a status screen panel appear in front of him. These were Tauros' statistics, and they were now on display for Roy.
______
_______
'Oh! Why does this Tauros have a D-rank Aptitude? This is different from the aptitude this world goes by.'
"Hmm, it seems this is something I will need to study to figure out. It should mirror the color system that's already in play within this world." Roy believed this was the case, but he'd have to see later.
He could still hear the speakerphone from the guild and walked over. Many youths had already been called to choose.
Roy looked over and saw Haren. He was holding his chosen Pokémon, which he had received from the Mystic Guild.
_______
______
Roy knew for certain that he was going for a Poliwrath. This was a really good Pokémon, especially in this real-world scenario. This would be a future Fighting Pokémon as well and couldn't be slept on.
These guilds were doing this mainly to boost their reputation. However, they told people they were doing it because Professor Oak was on vacation.
"Aaron! Come up to the Regulas Guild table." The man from the Regulas Guild called out.
Roy looked over and saw Aaron, and there with him were his siblings. After all, Troy and Aaron had been friends since they were 5 years old.
Aaron was around the same height as Troy, but a centimeter shorter. As for how Roy knew this, he could tell with his Aura Eyes. He was a fair-skinned teen with black hair, green eyes, and a lean build.
Roy watched from afar and wondered what his pick would be.
"I choose Kangaskhan as my pick," Aaron said with a smile. He tried to act calm, but Roy could see his aura fluctuations; he was clearly really excited.
'This is a really good pick for this generation, and it could Mega Evolve.' Roy nodded and sighed before looking toward his siblings. Judging from Lucian's aura, he was clearly envious, but Troy wasn't and was happy for his friend.
As for Luna, she stood next to her friend, Laura, who was holding a Meowth. Luna's emotions were those of sadness, but she was also happy for her friend.
After accepting the Pokémon, Aaron left the area with excitement in his eyes. Lucian and Troy naturally followed him. Roy didn't hesitate and tailed them as well to see this Kangaskhan status block.
"Kangaskhan!" As soon as she was summoned, she looked around with a bit of confusion.
_______
______
'The move pool was always trash with these Pokémon, at least below mediocre. It seems they didn't breed any special Pokémon with these guys to get better movesets upon hatching.'
The ability was pretty good; his Kangaskhan could still fight against Ghost types. Roy only watched for a bit before slipping away to the Pokémon Alliance Building.
