Chapter 40 - Treasures for millions

During this day after the attack, Jack watched as the new castle became fortified with 10.000 troops, allocated from other places.

These troops could take turn in the barracks for recovery and reduce the food upkeep.

60 civilians were to live there and provide food and essentials for the troops on duty.

He had send the first 500 cows back to Nisha, and she made the new cattle fence a high priority, so they could keep sending them back home.

Jack figured that in a few days, they might have as many as 5000 giant cows between the black mountain and the forest.

He also went to the drill-zones to begin training a new batch of 5000 common troops.

The new civilians likewise finished summoning and he began to summon 20.000 more.

He still remembered the warning to let the civilians settle, before increasing the population like this.

But the ambush at the rivers had made him realise that he did not have time for such things.

'In war you have to adjust or die...' He reasoned like this.

[Mission: Create a 'Large Town' settlement. Reward: Uncommon Treasure: Sweet Orchard(Completed)]

[Mission: Capture 500 wild cows from the Dilato Fields. Reward: Bakery Blueprint(Completed)]

'I will create a few bakeries in the human area above the Black Mountain entrance..'

Jack stood in his meeting room in the mansion.

'Lake-town has 10.000 civilians and Black Mountain is now a large town with more than 10.000 humans and 20.000 dwarf civilians...'

He went outside the mansion to complete the houses for the new civilians, including those who would finish in a days time.

After this, he went back to the meeting room with a bowl of improved and delicious ready to eat food.

He still needed to build the bakeries, and find a location for the 'crazed plantation' and 'sweet orchard' treasures.

But first he checked the new missions.

[New Mission: Make a purchase in the tradehub for more than 50.000 gold coins. Reward: A rare lords resource will spawn in your territory]

[New Mission: Capture 500 wild horses from the Dilato Fields. Reward: Common Treasure: Chicken Farm]

Jack had hoped for better missions, something that would reward him with something good for his war.

'Maybe the next one.. I can buy something from the tradehub right away and gain a new mission.'

Jack quickly checked the tradehub, only to realise that most of everything were beginning to get empty.

'Maybe the entire planet has switched to manual trades? Or they realised that no one were this desperate to buy something for hundreds of thousands of gold coins any more.'

Jack had watched the chat once in a while, and it was general knowledge that millions of lords had perished in the first year.

Only the strongest had survived and made it into a town that could prosper and be defended.

Also apparently the second 'Lord Event' had been a declaration of war.

Every Lord had to find and fight another lord, kill or be killed.

This had directly halved the remaining lords on planet prime.

'So savage... No wonder people are getting more attached to their close trade partners..'

Yet as he checked the tradehub, a few treasures still remained.

[Rare Treasure: Giant Bees. Cost: 500.000 Gold Coins]

[Uncommon Treasure: Super Corn Field. Cost: 350.000 Gold Coins]

[Epic Treasure: Cacao Plantation. Cost: 10.000.000 Gold Coins]

'What's up with these prices? No one could ever afford that..' Jack frowned to himself.

'Maybe they are in trouble and just hoping to win he lottery...'

Jack knew that the chances for their items to be sold were close to zero and there could be thousands of reason as to why they didn't just use the treasures themselves.

'Well your loss, bees can make honey and the cacao can make liquor and chocolate... For sure it will be in high demand in the coming years. And now they are mine!'

Jack instantly bought all three treasures.

He then went back to the mission board.

[Mission: Make a purchase in the tradehub for more than 50.000 gold coins. Reward: A rare lords resource will spawn in your territory]

[Lord System: A huge sulfur deposit has spawned in your territory]

'Sulfur huh? I should have the 10.000 new dwarfs begin mining and looking for the mithril vein. I could use a company of epic troops!'

Jack happily proceeded to check the new mission.

[New Mission: Upgrade the Lords Mansion. Reward: Hero Token]

'Hahaha keep these easy missions coming!'

Jack again went outside and told the nearby troops and civilians to move from the mansion area.

[Lords Mansion, common rank. Upgrade cost: Wood x25.000. Stone x60.000. Iron x10.000. Gold Coins x20.000]

He directly upgraded it and now looked at a much larger mansion.

The area had expanded and another wing had been added to the right side.

The building looked much more beautiful and refined with iron frames and statues.

[Lords Mansion, Uncommon Rank. New Feature: Ability and Hero training]

In the yard a 'sparring' area had appeared next to the resource dump, and Jack went to investigate.

[Lord System: The training area enables the Lord or Lords heroes to cultivate their abilities, increasing their strength. The training area also has a chance to upgrade a civilian or troop into a hero, however if it fails, the individual will die]

[Lord System: Abilities available for upgrade: Matter control. Cost: Gemstones x500. Gold Coins x100.000. Requires 1 days of stasis inside the training area]

[Lord System: Do you wish to upgrade?]

[Yes/No]

Jack pushed no for now. He could try to upgrade his abilities later, but for now, he still had work to do.

He claimed the 'Hero Token' reward for upgrading the mansion, and continued to check the new mission.

[New Mission: Successfully cultivate a new Hero in the mansion. Reward: Adventurers Guild House Blueprint]

'Oh there is even something like this??' Jack could vaguely imagine the impact this would have in Planet Prime.

'This is the first I have heard about this, maybe no one else has upgraded the mansion to uncommon rank? Or maybe they received different missions? Or they keep it quiet?'

Jack didn't know what to make of the lack of talk in the chat about this subject.

Surely the heroes would have a much larger role to play in the future of Planet Prime.

He discarded all this for now and made a mental note of his current missions.

'500 horses from the Dilato fields.. Claim the Dilato territory itself.. Cultivate a hero in the mansion.. Find the natural mithril vein beneath the mountain..'

Jack knew that the outpost had captured many of the wild cows, and it was just a matter of time before they would find and capture the horses.

He had left that job to Cochi at the outpost.

Likewise all the dwarfs knew to begin tunneling downwards, having told them that there might be mithril, they were digging like they were obsessed.

The Dilato territory would be claimed, when he felt he had sufficient forces to advance and find whatever wild boss that roamed the area.

The hero cultivation could wait until he had time to experiment in this field.

'Lets place these treasures! They do no good in my inventory!' Jack had already checked if some of them were suited to be placed inside the mountain.

But he found it was better to place them all outside between the mountain and the forest.

Firstly he made a new solid road from the wall and gate beneath the plateau.

He continued a few kilometres south along the roots of the mountain.

Here he spotted some of his civilians, who worked in a self-made cotton farm and realised it was already suited to be industrialized with treasure resources.

[Uncommon Treasure: Crazed Plantation. A one square kilometres plantation of crazed banana trees. Saplings grows to full size in a week and sprouts large banana fruits every day for three days. If they are not harvested and cut down after the third day, the trees will uproot and attack everything in their path]

[Uncommon Treasure: Sweet Orchard. A two square kilometres plantation of huge apple trees. The apples from these trees are extremely sweet, and many insects, animals and beasts loves them. They can be harvested every month]

[Rare Treasure: Giant Bees. This is a very rare race of giant bees. This treasure consists of a single young queen bee. The honey this race produce is said to be so rare and addicting that only royalty could afford it]

[Uncommon Treasure: Super Corn Field. A three square kilometres field of super corn. These corns are large and can be harvested every month]

[Epic Treasure: Cacao Plantation. The cacao nuts from these trees are truly exceptional. A single nut is said to cure deep wounds over a single night. They can be processed into either raw chocolate or a strong alcohol. This plantation is one square kilometres and they can be harvested every 15 days]

Jack placed the crazed plantation and the cacao plantation closest to the walls beneath the plateau.

He then continued along the road and placed the sweet orchard in the forest area that had already been deforested.

Further ahead he placed the super corn.

'Now little bee-queen, lets place you next to the sweet orchard'

A single bee the size of the hand of a full grown man, appeared before him.

It buzzed around him a few times before flying towards the sweet apple trees to create its hive.

'My civilians have plenty of new fields to work now.' Jack thought, as he continued to the area above the Black Mountain entrance, to place additional bakeries.
