Captain, a ninth-class rank in the Celestial Court system, is a sinecure specially arranged for those with connections, equivalent to Vice Leader of a Thousand.
Typically, those with connections are first assigned a sinecure as a Captain and, after a certain period or when a position becomes vacant, they may be transferred to a vice thousand leader's actual position, or if the connections are strong enough, directly promoted to a formal ninth-class Leader of a Thousand is also possible.
Above Captain is the rank of Captain, which is an eighth-class sinecure, equivalent to Vice Commander.
Further up, there is a seventh-class sinecure as Deputy General, equivalent to Vice General or Vice Guardian Envoy.
