Chapter 16 - Chapter 2: Ash in the wires part 6

🌒 NIGHT — SAFEHOUSE IN OLD TEJGAON

Rafi sat on the rooftop, legs dangling over the edge.

The King File hung around his neck like a weapon disguised as jewelry.

The file was too heavy to open without consequences.

Every Frame leader's mind was now inside a simple drive — and Rafi knew that with one upload, he could destroy them all.

But he also knew something else.

> "This is the part Shohan never solved," he said aloud.

Behind him, Echo stirred.

> "Shohan was a disruptor. He wasn't built to rebuild."

> "Am I?"

She didn't answer.

---

🧾 SILO'S PLAN

Inside the safehouse, Silo connected her custom terminal.

Lines of code ran across the screen. Predictive models, social cascade simulations, virus deployment trees.

> "I can seed the King File into every Frame terminal at once," she said.

"Collapse their identities. Rewire them before they even understand."

Rafi watched her.

> "That's not what Shohan wanted."

> "Shohan is dead."

Echo stood now.

> "No. He's not. Not completely."

She handed Rafi a small folded square of paper — yellow, nearly falling apart.

Inside: Shohan's last handwriting.

A list of 4 names.

All crossed out.

Except one.

> "Silo."

---

😶 TRUST BROKEN

Rafi turned to Silo.

> "He planned to kill you."

Silo froze.

> "Why didn't he?"

> "Because he needed you to finish it if he failed."

> "And now?"

Rafi walked over to her terminal.

Unplugged the core link.

> "Now I don't know if he was right."

Silo narrowed her eyes.

> "Don't get soft, Rafi. You're in too deep for guilt now."

> "I'm not guilty," he said.

> "Then what?"

> "I'm thinking."

---

🧠 RAFI'S DECISION

Later that night, Rafi activated a secure, offline-only node inside an abandoned metro tunnel.

No wireless.

No connection to the Frame grid.

He opened the King File.

Fully.

What he saw made him choke.

Not just plans.

Not just blackmail.

But mental backups.

Each Frame leader had constructed a fallback personality — a clone of themselves, ready to re-upload into fresh hosts if killed.

> "They're not afraid of death," Rafi whispered.

"They're afraid of being forgotten."

He sat there, cold concrete under him.

> "They're not leaders. They're viruses."

---

âš¡ AN IDEA IS BORN

He didn't need to kill them.

He needed to replace them.

---

🕯 END SCENE — MESSAGE TO THE CITY

A pirated signal takes over all screens in Sector 7.

Rafi's face does not appear.

Only his voice.

> "You don't know me. But I know every Frame. I know every lie, every manipulation, every reset."

"They built themselves to live forever."

"But what if they lived as someone else?"

> "I won't kill them."

"I'll let you decide what they become."

The screen glitches. Then fades.

Echo watches from the corner of a rooftop.

Silo stares at her data pad, unreadable.

And across NeoDhaka, people begin to ask…

> "Who is the boy who speaks like Shohan… but doesn't lie?"
