Chapter 394 - DSMW [395]

Balancing herself on the D-Board, Ren struggled to stay upright as the dark wind unleashed by Oga Slint's draw swept across the track.

The massive black serpent hadn't even fully materialized yet, but the sheer pressure roaring from the card's surface already made the hair on Ren's neck stand on end.

Ren scowled. "What kind of monster is that—no, what is that thing?!"

The pressure she felt was far beyond what any ordinary monster could emanate. It was the pressure of a god.

Nid exclaimed, "So even students from XYZ Academy can wield divine monsters?"

As Oga officially began his turn, he didn't immediately Summon a monster. Instead, he slowly flipped up the Trap Card he had set earlier.

"Continuous Trap—[Call of the Haunted]! I choose 1 monster in my Graveyard and Special Summon it in Attack Position!"

The ground trembled once again. From within the Graveyard, the sleeping power of the phantom dragon stirred—the dragon of calamity.

"I Special Summon in Attack Position—[True King Lithosagym, the Disaster]!"

[True King Lithosagym, the Disaster] Level 9│EARTH│Wyrm│2500 ATK

"ROAARR!!"

The phantom dragon of the earth, bearing the title of calamity, revived with a furious roar and galloped across Oga's D-Wheel track.

"Then I enter my Battle Phase! [True King Lithosagym, the Disaster], attack!"

"What?!" Ren blinked in surprise. "You're attacking [Elemental HERO The Shining] with your earth dragon?"

[True King Lithosagym, the Disaster, ATK: 2500] vs. [Elemental HERO The Shining, ATK: 2600]

The HERO had 100 Attack higher.

Oga could have revived the [True King of All Calamities] from his Graveyard instead—a monster with 3000 Attack. Even without Xyz Materials, it would have overpowered The Shining.

Had he done so, Ren could have discarded the [Elemental HERO Honest Neos] from her hand to raise The Shining's Attack by 2500, creating a brilliant counterattack of HEROic light.

Yet instead, he revived the weaker earth dragon and sent it to attack.

The unorthodox move left Ren momentarily uncertain. Should she discard Honest Neos to power up or not?

"True King of Calamity, guide the ritual of disaster! With your body as the sacrifice, awaken the god slumbering beyond this world—Dragon Breath of Calamity!"

The trembling ground surged with disastrous energy. As the True King roared in determination, that energy shot toward The Shining.

"Our Attack's higher! Counter it, The Shining!"

Ren decided to hold onto Honest Neos for now, in case of future surprises.

"Optical Storm!!"

The HERO bearing the sun's radiance unleashed a blinding counterblast, dispersing the dragon's calamity breath and engulfing it in a radiant storm.

[True King Lithosagym, the Disaster] destroyed.

[Oga, LP: 4000 → 3900]

"So the calamity was destroyed after all," Oga muttered softly to himself.

Even at that volume, Ren still heard it.

"You charged in with a weaker monster—of course it got destroyed!"

"Indeed, Ren Austin. However, destruction is only the prelude to calamity's next chapter. The horror always lies hidden behind the malice."

He withdrew the dark card he had just drawn. As the phantom dragon perished, cracks spread across the earth—something ominous was leaking from deep within the planet.

"This duel ends here. When a monster on my field is destroyed, by paying half my Life Points, I can Summon the god that sleeps within the planet itself—!"

"The god sleeping within the planet?!" The foreboding in Ren's heart intensified. Even Hermos, the Legendary Dragon within her Deck, reacted violently.

[Oga, LP: 3900 → 1950]

Paying half of his nearly full Life Points, Oga Slint's eyes turned completely black as he rode his D-Wheel.

"Special Summon! O serpent god that devours worlds, reveal your colossal form and grant me absolute victory—Divine Serpent Geh!!"

[Divine Serpent Geh] Level 12│? ATK

[When a monster you control is destroyed by your opponent, you can pay half your Life Points; Special Summon this card from your hand.]

A black column of light erupted from the earth, its vile energy piercing the sky.

"What is that aura… it's terrifying, Mr. Miles!"

Even from outside the field, the chill pierced the bone, making Aisha clutch tightly onto the still-possessed Krista.

"The Serpent God of Orichalcos? He can just Summon it directly?! That's completely breaking the rules!"

Miles vaguely remembered—in the anime, summoning that monster required a whole sequence, including activating [Seal of Orichalcos], that infamous 'whoever uses it loses' card, before finally calling forth the Divine Serpent Geh.

Yet Oga Slint had skipped every setup step. Without even a seal, he had brought out the ultimate boss serpent as his finisher.

"That… that's not a light pillar!" Lost looked up in horror. At the end of the 'black column' was a gigantic serpent's head.

What everyone thought was a pillar of light was, in fact, the body of the now-materialized [Divine Serpent Geh], stretching skyward.

The immense black serpent's body connected heaven and earth.

Coiling slowly, its massive form wrapped around half the Turbo Duel field, blotting out the sky in darkness.

[Divine Serpent Geh, ATK: ∞ (Infinity)]

"What kind of Attack is that?!"

"Is that even possible?!"

"Did the display just glitch out?!"

Everyone, right then, began to doubt their own eyes.

An infinite Attack value, something unheard of, was actually real in this world… It surpassed even the terrifying power of [The Wicked Avatar].

While The Wicked Avatar was unbeatable in combat, it could only inflict 1 point of damage at most.

Meanwhile, [Divine Serpent Geh], with its infinite Attack, meant that as long as it could deal damage, it was an instant kill… no matter how many Life Points one had.

"It's over, Ren Austin. The moment the Serpent God descended, this duel was already decided in my favor."

Now fully engulfed in the ominous aura, Oga Slint and his D-Wheel were swallowed by the darkness exuded by the Serpent God.

"Hey, hey! Isn't it dangerous to use such a monster?!"

The sinister power had grown so overwhelming that even Irena couldn't stay seated any longer—she turned directly toward XYZ Academy in protest.

"This level of malevolent power is completely beyond the rules! The Duelist himself will be devoured by it before he ever wins! What happened to the honor of Duelists… are you people that desperate to win?!"

Even though Oga Slint was fighting under the burden of his family's name and crimes, Irena hadn't expressed any disapproval.

Albeit when it came to [Divine Serpent Geh], the danger was simply too blatant to ignore.

Not only did Oga Slint risk being consumed by the evil god's backlash, but if Ren faced its infinite Attack head-on, her situation would be just as perilous.

"The Gray Witch of Fusion Academy, huh." Leon smiled confidently. "Don't worry too much. Keep watching. The duel itself will reveal the answer."

Amid the shroud of black mist surrounding the Serpent, Oga, still mounted on his D-Wheel, extended his arm forward and declared the next battle.

"Since [Divine Serpent Geh] was Special Summoned during the Battle Phase, it can continue to attack! This strike will end everything! No matter how many Life Points you have left!"

"Hissss—!"

Opening its colossal maw, [Divine Serpent Geh] let out a serpentine roar as its vast body in the clouds began to descend toward Ren.

"[Divine Serpent Geh]'s effect! When this card declares an attack, I must send the top 10 cards of my Deck to the Graveyard to proceed with the attack!"

As the cost for wielding infinite Attack, Oga sent the top ten cards of his Spirit Eyes Deck to the Graveyard in succession.

Even with a 60-card Deck at most, that would only allow five attacks in total.

Regardless, this was an infinite Attack. One strike was all it would ever need.

"Sink your fangs and end it, Serpent God!"

Its target was chosen: Ren's [Elemental HERO The Shining] in Attack Position.

Facing the crushing pressure of infinite Attack, sweat rolled down Ren's temple.

Even the [Elemental HERO Honest Neos] in her hand, capable of boosting Attack by 2500, seemed utterly insufficient.

"So that's what you were hiding under your field setup," she muttered.

"It's over, Ren Austin! [Divine Serpent Geh], attack!—Venomous Breath of Extinction!"

The roar of the Serpent God, with power to annihilate planets, bore down upon Ren and her D-Board.

"Then I'll use this card! Your fangs, your final strike, will be mine to command instead!"

Ren's heterochromatic eyes gleamed as she flipped her face-down card.

"Trap Card activate—[Mirror Gate]!"

[Activate only when an opponent's monster declares an attack targeting a face-up "Elemental HERO" monster you control. Switch control of the attacking monster and the attack target, then conduct damage calculation. Return control of the monsters at the end of the turn.]

In that desperate instant, the shattering dimensional mirror portal twisted space itself; in a heartbeat, swapping control of both battling monsters.
