Chapter 302: Tang San's Last Chance

Qian Xunji asked, "Senior Tang Chen, you've been missing from the continent so many years. How did you end up in this state? I sense something else lurking in your body, plus a potent poison."

To one side, Qian Renchuan remained silent, secretly preparing the Tang Sect hidden weapon Yan Wang Tie (King of Hell's Post). He had long since refined it using forty-nine unique toxins from the Ice-Fire Yin Yang Well, producing a deadly poison powerful enough to kill a Title Douluo. He had forged three of them during his two years at Skywater Academy, yet never found reason to use them.

Qian Renchuan was on high alert. There was no doubt the lethal poison within Tang Chen came from him throwing the Snowy Swan Kiss into the Slaughter City, that single herb poisoning the entire place. However, he hadn't expected the Killing King to actually be Tang Chen, ancestor of the Clear Sky Clan and a powerhouse on par with his father and grandfather. Tang Chen's life force was unbelievably hardy – even with the Snowy Swan Kiss magnifying his toxicity hundreds or thousands of times over, he still clung to life. But now he was probably on his last legs.

Should Tang Chen seek vengeance, Qian Renchuan would show no mercy. While he couldn't join a clash of that level, given an opening he could concentrate all his soul power and launch a single Yan Wang Tie into Tang Chen's body. His peak Douluo-level mental strength would be enough for that.

Of all the Tang family, Qian Renchuan only just barely accepted Tang Yuehua. As for Tang Chen, he thought the man disgusting – an "inherently evil" nobody who once dared look down on Qian Daoliu (his grandfather). The destruction of the Clear Sky Clan was well-deserved, saving Qian Renchuan some trouble in establishing his own Tang Sect here.

Tang Chen's dull, wizened voice answered, "In the final stage of my god trials, I was ambushed by the Rakshasa God and parasitized by the Blood-Red Nine-Headed Bat King. Qian Daoliu's son... it seems you too encountered a god trial. Why are you here?"

Tang Chen's tone held a hint of interrogation, for Qian Xunji, a rank 99 Title Douluo, had arrived with juniors in tow so conveniently – right as Tang Chen destroyed the Clear Sky Clan.

"Grandfather..." A flush tinted Tang Yuehua's cheeks. She took the initiative to explain. "I'm actually with His Holiness now. Learning of the Clear Sky Clan's crisis, he immediately brought me to offer aid. On the way, we encountered Xiao San's party returning to the clan, so we came together."

"Ah, so that's how it is."

Hearing Tang Yuehua's words, Tang Chen dropped his guard and felt a surge of inward delight. Tang Yuehua was his granddaughter, after all. Qian Xunji was Qian Daoliu's son, so if Tang Yuehua was with him, didn't that make Qian Daoliu the younger generation? Forced to call Tang Chen "Uncle" perhaps. If not for having destroyed the Clear Sky Clan and committed monstrous sins, he would have relished heading to Spirit Hall to mock Qian Daoliu.

A hearty laugh from Tang Chen: "Since you and Yuehua are together, no need to call me 'Senior.' Just call me Grandfather."

"I'd like to see if I can address the parasite in your body." Qian Xunji activated eight black and one red rings, the Six-Winged Angel Spirit emerging behind him. Radiant golden Angelic Light shone on Tang Chen, in whose spiritual sea the Blood-Red Nine-Headed Bat King began to shriek.

Angelic Light wasn't soul power, but divine power, carrying the ability to dispel, purge, and exorcise evil. The six-winged angel was the bane of all evil.

Gradually, a sword-shaped pattern glowed on Tang Chen's forehead, and a new layer of strange red light coated him from head to toe. He began to transform. His hair shifted from red to white, his eyes lost their crimson hue, and that once-pale complexion turned a coppery tan. His face altered slightly, looking more handsome. The fleshy wings vanished, replaced by an old, standard-issue gray uniform of the Clear Sky Clan.

Purified by the Angelic Light, Tang Chen now looked much more human, and his aura soared again. The Shura Demon Sword blazed with crimson radiance in his grip.

Whereas before, to the Killing King, the blade was just a fiendishly sharp and heavy blood-sword, now that the Blood-Red Nine-Headed Bat King was purged, Tang Chen had essentially completed the Shura's Eighth Trial. He could utilize part of the Shura Demon Sword's power – real Shura Godforce.

"Senior Tang Chen, I can't eliminate the rest," Qian Xunji said, "because the Bat King's body has completely fused with yours. Removing that is like cutting off your own flesh."

Tang Chen didn't mind. "No matter. If not for the Blood-Red Nine-Headed Bat King, my body would've disintegrated long ago."

"Great Ancestor," Tang San spoke up, "who poisoned you so grievously? Is the Slaughter City truly destroyed?"

A triple-lifetime Tang San was trembling inside at seeing that Shura Demon Sword – his last hope. On the way over, he had glimpsed a blood-sword imprint on Qian Renchuan's forehead, exactly matching Tang Chen's. That meant Qian Renchuan was also a chosen inheritor of the Shura God! Tang San had to prevent Qian Renchuan from claiming the Shura Demon Sword; otherwise, the Clear Sky Clan's revival would be impossible, and the continent would be reduced to the demonic playground of Spirit Hall.

So long as he obtained Shura Godhood, he could resurrect his fallen father, erase the vile Spirit Hall, and reclaim every shred of dignity lost in this world.

He suspected that just like in his prior life, someone had used the Snowy Swan Kiss to poison the Slaughter City. Those immortal herbs now belonged to Spirit Hall, so the culprit must have been Qian Renchuan!

Tang Chen scowled. "I have no clue. But if I ever find out, I'll tear him apart nerve by nerve. Even if he's a god, I'd sacrifice my life to drag him down with me!"

Tang Chen's fury burned. If not for being poisoned, he would never have slaughtered his clan or ended up so battered, near senility. His loathing for that poisoner was immeasurable.

"Uncle," Tang San ventured, "the distance from Spirit Hall to the Clear Sky Clan is over a thousand miles. How did you sense the clan's crisis?"

Qian Xunji shot Tang San a pointed look. This lad was evidently capable of stooping low to call him "Uncle." Tearing off the facade didn't matter to Qian Xunji; he came here for the Shura Demon Sword, the Bat King's hundred-thousand-year ring and bone, etc.

"My son's Killing God Domain lost control for no reason. On checking Xiaochuan's domain, I discovered a mysterious spiritual force quietly homing in on every Killing God Domain user. Apart from my son and Bibi Dong, there's only Tang Hao. The entity had formidable mental power, so I suspected a threat to your clan and rushed over."

Tang San feigned pensiveness, guiding the conversation: "So, it's likely the one who poisoned Senior Tang Chen also holds a Killing God Domain…"
