Chapter 297: The Killing King with No Health Bar
All of a sudden, Qian Xunji sensed a familiar aura down below, one he had encountered on Sea God Island. Turning his gaze downward, he saw three men, also headed in the direction of the Clear Sky Clan. Their pace wasn't especially slow.
These three were naturally Tang San, Tang Tian, and Tang Hu, returning from their training on Sea God Island and making their way back to the Clear Sky Clan. At the moment, they had no idea the clan was facing a great catastrophe. They were looking forward to showing off the meteoric progress of their three and a half years of cultivation at Sea God Island once they got home.
A warm and sacred golden glow shone down. Tang San, Tang Hu, and Tang Tian simultaneously halted, looking up at the sky. Three figures descended, the one in front a tall, handsome, blond-haired man with very distinctive features:
Qian Xunji!
The trio stared in astonishment, unable to grasp why Qian Xunji had suddenly appeared here.
Qian Renchuan's eyes narrowed when he noticed they wore the Clear Sky Clan's attire. These physiques, that bearing... they must be those inherently evil Tang family members!
From Qian Renchuan's body flared an icy killing intent toward the three from the Clear Sky Clan. The murderous aura was divided equally among Tang San, Tang Tian, and Tang Hu; he didn't give Tang San any special "attention." Mainly because he didn't recognize this Tang San whose appearance had completely changed. Otherwise, if he realized this was indeed the "Tang San" who had dared impersonate him, that Tang Sect criminal from the inherently evil Tang Clan, he would have unleashed a far greater bloodthirst upon him.
Sensing Qian Renchuan's killing intent, Tang Tian and Tang Hu both released two yellow, two purple, and two black spirit rings, summoning the Clear Sky Hammer into their hands.
Qian Renchuan's face chilled further as he stepped in front of Qian Xunji. Then he revealed three purple, two black, and two red spirit rings—a configuration so bizarrely strong it stunned onlookers.
Tang San instantly recognized that ring configuration and realized the white-haired man must be Qian Renchuan. His heart was filled with unwillingness, jealousy, and all kinds of swirling emotions. A spirit ring setup like that should have belonged to him in his first lifetime's world! It should have been his!
He had completed his top-level Seven Trials on Sea God Island, gained two God-bestowed Spirit Rings, and raised each ring's year count by six thousand. His first five rings were thus three purple, two black—but his sixth and seventh were just standard ten-thousand-year rings, absolutely no match for Qian Renchuan's pair of hundred-thousand-year rings. Even after the Sea God's rewards, he still lagged behind Qian Renchuan!
Tang Tian and Tang Hu stood dazed under the oppressiveness of those two red rings, feeling suffocated; their minds temporarily went blank.
Qian Renchuan was about to teach these inherently evil Tang clan members a lesson, when Qian Xunji spoke. "Xiaochuan."
Hearing Qian Xunji's calm tone, Qian Renchuan retracted his spirit rings and moved back a step, though his expression remained cold.
Tang Yuehua silently breathed a sigh of relief. Though she had joined Spirit Hall, practically everyone in the Clear Sky Clan but her elder brother Tang Xiao regarded her poorly. Still, those three men were her juniors. She didn't recognize the drastically changed Tang San, but Tang Tian and Tang Hu were seeds for Title Douluo in the clan, and its future backbone.
"Greetings to His Holiness the Supreme Pontiff."
Tang Tian and Tang Hu bowed, prompting Qian Renchuan's face to soften just a little. Then he turned his gaze on the last one, who maintained a calm bearing even now—a blue-haired man with a crimson seven-pointed star on his forehead. Narrowing his eyes again, Qian Renchuan noticed that mark.
Qian Xunji lightly nodded. "I've gotten news that the Clear Sky Clan faces peril. Since we happen to run into you three, let me give you a hand."
With a wave of his hand, he lifted Tang Tian, Tang Hu, and Tang San by his spirit power, escorting them along with Tang Yuehua and Qian Renchuan toward the Clear Sky Clan. Their speed was obviously slower than before.
Certainly not because Qian Xunji's control was lacking; earlier, he merely slowed down for Tang Yuehua's sake, since her spirit power was only rank nine. These three were far stronger, yet he still reduced his pace intentionally—idly enjoying the scenery. Arriving at the Clear Sky Clan later made no difference; he planned to be the first to "loot the spoils" anyway.
If he arrived too soon and discovered the Killing King still fighting the clan, he would have to help. The moment he found them finished, he could gather the remains.
As for that handsome blue-haired man with a red seven-pointed star on his forehead, Qian Xunji didn't even need to ask—who else but Tang San? On Sea God Island, any major chance for an "inherently evil, selfish Tang clan disciple" certainly wouldn't be shared with outsiders. Only a Tang family member would have traveled there. Moreover, the updated Blue Silver Grass with beautification effects was unique to Tang San, turning his hair and pupils blue.
Meanwhile, the Clear Sky Clan was locked in a brutal struggle.
Evidently, the Killing King alone couldn't defeat five Title Douluo from the clan, plus Tang Hao, whose attacking power equaled a Title Douluo's. As an ancient ten-thousand-year bat, he wasn't a fool. After some combat, he noticed Tang Xiao and the elders were clustering around Tang Hao, within that man's Killing God Domain. Fighting in that zone left him at a disadvantage.
Of course, the domain's scope was only about a hundred meters, but with five Title Douluo bustling about, plus none of them truly wanting to injure Tang Chen's body—he was still their ancestor. Even so, the Killing King had taken some injuries.
"You think just one Tang Hao can defeat this king?"
He scoffed, wings flaring. Rather than striking the clan elders again, he rushed toward the clan's rank-and-file disciples. Spirit Saints, Emperors, even Contras—none lasted a single exchange.
Once inside his Slaughter Domain, all their spirit rings were locked. They became little more than large walking "blood bags," while at his horrifying speed, only a few from the Sensitive Clan might flee. The rest were wholly vulnerable.
The next moment:
"Old Rhino!" (in unison)
The Titan and White Crane cried out in alarm.
Ox-King Niu Gao of the Defense Clan, who surpassed most Title Douluo in durability, found that once his rings were sealed, his fortress-like body was as easily ripped open as a paper doll. The King's claws gouged out every organ, slurping the blood into the domain. The battered remains fell away.
That abundant fresh blood nourished the King, healing all wounds from his fight against Tang Xiao, Tang Hao, and the elders, pushing his power further still—his aura even more formidable and evil.
Though it claimed to be the "world's greatest clan" with five thousand disciples, the Clear Sky Clan was, apart from those within Tang Hao's Killing God Domain radius, effectively turned into an unlimited reservoir of health for the King. The Slaughter King had no "health bar" to speak of.
In every surviving clan member's ears, an elegant background melody seemed to ring out:
Like petals fluttering in the sky,
They fall into spring's soil,
Nourishing the earth,
Growing into the next blossom.
The wind carries your teardrops,
Each drop falling into memories.
Let us call it "cherish."
