"His name is Sterling," Silas reported low, scrolling through a file on his tablet. "He is a senior director at the Sovereign Guild. He recognized the Seal of the Bound Flame, My Lord. He followed us from the gallery because he believes you retrieved the seal to build an underground weapon."
Grayson stared down at the photograph. His sharp jaw tightened, a cold, annoyed expression settling over his dark features.
"An underground weapon?" Grayson repeated, his deep voice filled with flat disbelief. "He thinks I spent twelve million dollars at midnight to build a weapon?"
"He does, My Lord," Silas sighed, adjusting his glasses. "He is currently standing near the alley exit, waiting to confront you. He believes he can bargain with you for a piece of its power."
Grayson looked over his shoulder through the glass partition. Mailah was happily taking a small sip of her hazelnut latte. She had a tiny spot of sweet foam on her upper lip, her eyes bright as she looked out at the rain.
