The car came to a stop in front of a large clearing, the engine sound dying into sudden silence.
My hand clutched the seat belt subconsciously until a large hand covered mine entirely, pulling me out of my thoughts.
I looked up to meet Kaelith's cold eyes already fixed on me. "Whatever result tonight yields, it wouldn't change anything, okay?"
I nodded, suddenly losing the ability to use my voice.
"Words, Elyssa. I need your words."
"Y-y-yes," I whispered, the single syllable cracking with dry patch in my throat . "It won't change anything." I spoke louder to him to hear the firmness in my voice but maybe I was trying to convince myself while at it.
