Ash's POV
I spent all night spent tossing, turning, and chasing away nightmares about me saying goodbyes.
Before my eyes were even fully open, my fingers were searching the mattress, desperate to find my phone. I illuminated the screen, as the harsh brightness stung my eyes. No missed calls, or texts from Dominic. Just the last message I'd sent to him weeks ago. It sat there, completely unacknowledged. Maybe silence was the answer.
I opened our chat, watching the cursor blink in the empty text bar. My thumb hovered above the keyboard, aching to type out a thousand words, a thousand pleas, but the truth paralyzed me. What was left to say?
I dropped the phone back on the bed, burying my face into the palms of my hands, exhaling shakily. My chest felt hollow.
Today was supposed to be his engagement. Or wedding. Or whatever sick arrangement his father had planned for him.
My throat tightened.
"Dominic." I whispered into the quiet room. "Please don't do this."
