Chapter 27 - Fingers Interlaced

Nina's fingers entered the spaces between mine with more certainty than the trial contact suggested. Our palms met while we continued toward the media building, making the ordinary path feel newly visible. I forgot how walking worked for one dangerous step around us both.

"Your left foot still participates," Nina said, keeping her hand inside mine while amusement returned to her voice.

"It received unexpected instructions," I replied, concentrating on the pavement before my recovery created an undignified milestone.

"Hand-holding usually allows continued movement," she explained, adjusting her grip when my thumb remained rigid.

I let my hand relax around hers, discovering details photographs never captured. Her fingers felt cooler than mine after holding the metal camera, while one small rough patch crossed her index finger near the lens controls. The contact carried intention without requiring pressure before the moment moved forward again.
