Next morning.....
After waking up early in the morning, he went jogging. When he was coming back, he saw many people gathering outside the village. He ran faster to see what has happened. As he got closer, he heard people murmur about something bad happened to someone. He asked a boy he knew what they were talking about.
He said, "Last night dayan killed another guy".
Suresh was a little sceptical hearing that. He went forward to ask someone else. He went to an older guy and asked, "Uncle, what has happened here?"
The older guy glanced back to see who it was. He annoyingly looked back, when he saw Suresh was the one asking the question he relaxed his brow and said, "Oh Suresh, it's you. When did you come?"
"Last night. Dad called me yesterday and told me to come home urgently. Anyway, what happened here?"
"Last night dayan killed another guy. He must have come home late at night and dayan saw him, lured him out to kill him."
Suresh was bewildered hearing that. Who believes those at this date and time. He looked ahead to see who died. He thought villagers were lost and they just could not find the cause of death, so they believed some supernatural force killed people. When he spotted the dead body, he became mystified. He knew that person. They used to play together as kids. He was called Baru, as he was oldest among his siblings. Baru means big, oldest. He was the leader amongst them, most children thought of him as their leader. Baru was very popular among the children and adult. He used to help adult to look after their kids. So, everyone knew him in the village. His death came unexpected and very unnaturally. Seeing him everyone can say he died unnaturally.
Though Suresh was very puzzled as why everyone believed dayan killed him, he knew Baru's death was not natural. He believed Baru was killed. So, he asked others if anyone called police yet. Before he got an answer a police car came. Police told everyone to stay back, as they started to investigate the cause of his death. One policeman looked towards Baru and lamented, "This young man was really unlucky to die like this. Even after knowing everything and seeing those bizarre death, he still fell for the same trap."
Hearing him saying that Suresh went to him, "What has happened before?"
The police looked towards Suresh weirdly. He looked up and down and asked, "you live out of the village? Right."
He sounded so sure that Suresh felt speechless. But he still answered, "Yes, I live in the city. I came home last night."
Hearing that the policeman smirked a little and said, "I'll give you a piece of advice, in you stay here always listen to the villagers. No matter how unbelievable their words sounds, never do anything stupid because you are curious and their stories sounds ridiculous."
After saying that he stopped and looked his face. Seeing the puzzling look he gave a small laugh, "He isn't the only one who died this way. Before him, many people died the exact same way. At first we were doing our best to find the killer but the investigation result told those people died weirdly. No human can kill someone like that. Though it sounds ridiculous coming from a police officer but from investigating all death till now, he was not killed by a human." After a small pause he said, "You should listen to others and don't do stupid things because you don't believe us. Just because you don't believe those does not mean they do not exist. Curiosity is good if it is on the right thing. But if you are curious about this kind of things, you won't be able to handle the consequences." After saying that he went to handle his work. Though he believes that this wasn't done by a human, still he had to follow protocol.
Suresh was puzzled after hearing the police officer say that. 'Did the police also believe a supernatural being is the killer?' he thought. How come people still believe this kind of thing to this time and age. He could not bring himself to believe that, police already excepted an invisible being as the killer when they were supposed to try their best to look for the killer and catch him. Though he was disappointed seeing that he could not do anything about it.
Baru's body was sent to the hospital for inspection in hope that this death was caused by human. Police also hoped that a serial killer was behind this death. If it was then they can at least do something to catch the killer but if this death was also an unnatural death, then they will become even more helpless. As they cannot catch a ghost.
Seeing the police taking the body away Suresh also went home. After entering, he saw everyone looked anxious. Though he knew people in the village still believes in ghost and they think some ghost has been killing people, but he wants to know about this more clearly. He asked his father what's happening here and how many people died till now. He knew his father was not someone who believed in baseless rumour. So, only his father can give him a logical explanation. But the answer he got from his father made him even more puzzled. How come his father also believed in some unseen force as well.
After hearing about all the unnatural death that happened till date he felt a little lost. He was having a hard time believing this, he glanced at his father. Seeing his son's face, he knew Suresh felt it hard to believe so he told him, "You should always listen to the native wherever you. Even though you find their stories hard to believe. It does not matter what you hear has logic in it or not, believable or not you should never do anything they forbid you to do." after a pause he said, "They knows their hometown more than you. You are from here but you are living in the city now, so you don't know many things that's been happening around here recently. So don't do anything unnecessary and trouble others." After saying his piece he stood up and went out.
Suresh became even more curious. He wanted to know what was happening here but his father's words made him rethink his decision.
