Ahsoka had a headache dealing with the enemy's endless reinforcements. Combat droids had practically piled up across the entire corridor, with stormtroopers behind them pouring out fire like maniacs. The route to the stairwell was completely blocked, and the elevators were still ferrying more troops up in waves.
"We have to get to the next level—now!" Ahsoka shouted to Veronica from behind cover.
"I know—push down fifty levels!" Veronica yanked a small spherical bomb from her pack and, without even opening her eyes, hurled it straight into the pile of droids. When the beeping ended, the sphere released an invisible pulse. The clustered droids all went limp at once, collapsing into a heap of scrap—some even started burning. The corridor lights abruptly died.
Veronica stepped out from cover. Her left arm had already unfolded into an attack configuration, the muzzle at its end flashing with a blinding burst of white.
"My turn! Hah!"
A compressed explosive charge—carefully built by Amir—was propelled by a powerful launch, dragging a tail-flame as it streaked toward the stormtrooper line around the far corner.
A massive roar followed.
Scalding fire and explosive shock slammed through the narrow space, ricocheting violently off the corridor walls.
Every stormtrooper inside the blast radius became a torch—but they didn't feel pain. The concussive force had already shut their brains down. Those closest to the center were reduced to scattered limbs.
Seeing that, the Resistance fighters abandoned cover and surged forward behind Ahsoka.
Having a Jedi in the squad wasn't just about smashing through enemy lines.
The bigger advantage was simple:
She could stop blaster fire.
Ahsoka held two lightsabers and used Shien—Form V's defense-focused technique—rebuffing incoming blaster bolts and sending them back the way they came.
The chances of the people behind her getting hit dropped sharply. Their return fire became even more aggressive. Veronica in particular was relentless—her mechanical left arm's blaster spewed sustained fire while her right hand snapped precise shots with a blaster pistol.
The stormtroopers who had survived by backing away from the corner tried to counter a few times, then didn't even dare peek again.
"Calling Pivot! Enemy reinforcements have appeared outside the atmosphere—Priority One: a cruiser!"
"What?!" Ahsoka drove forward, spun with speed, and sliced through a combat droid's torso in a reverse cut. Even in shock, she kept attacking with cold focus.
"How could it be this fast?! We cut their communications!" Ahsoka shouted.
"Confirmed, Pivot. The enemy support has arrived!" Another voice came through her earpiece. Ahsoka's expression turned hard.
She clenched her teeth, thinking fast.
This entire operation was built on the assumption that the enemy cruiser couldn't fight. Even at best—based on Amir's description—damage like that couldn't possibly be repaired already.
"Take Levels One and Two immediately—strip the warehouses clean!" Ahsoka's assault turned feral. She plunged straight into the enemy formation, lightsabers rising and falling like a battlefield valkyrie. For a moment, nothing could stop her.
Hearing that enemy support had arrived, the rest of the Resistance fighters' eyes went red. They hit even harder. Layer by layer, the defensive line collapsed until they reached the stairwell.
"Calling Pivot!" The next report came, voice suddenly energized. "The cruiser's lower hull is heavily damaged—localized explosions have started. No fighters launching… wait—only one ship is descending!"
Ahsoka finally breathed again. One ship coming down wasn't a serious problem.
She cut down the last stormtrooper and looked at the wreckage around them with a snort. They'd probably wiped out eighty or ninety percent of the base's security forces already. Whatever remained was negligible.
"Everyone, start moving supplies to the ships!" Ahsoka ordered. "Veronica—come with me!"
These two levels stored large amounts of food, medicine, instruments—supplies that were a pain to haul down to lower floors. Most deliveries were kept on the upper levels closest to the landing platform. Additional stores were kept around another port near the base's central hub on Level 101. That was all confirmed by prior recon.
This mission wasn't just rescue. Those supplies were critical. The Resistance was short on everything.
Naturally, the defenses near the landing platform were the strongest—yet the Resistance had taken them by force.
"Report, Pivot—unable to intercept that descending ship. It's heading for the mid-level port."
"All other enemy craft destroyed. Our losses… two comrades." The pilot's voice dimmed on the last words.
"Hold your heads up," Ahsoka said firmly, her voice carrying into every comm channel. "This is a campaign. It's our first proactive strike against the Empire—and we've proven our path with victory. We will keep winning, again and again, until the day the Empire falls!"
On the far end of the comms, eyes went red. Even Rodians cried. They had been starving for a major victory—against the Empire's evil, for the justice in their own hearts.
This victory would spread—into every corner of the galaxy. Everyone crushed by the Empire would share in the joy of it. It would thin the despair in their hearts, ignite their fighting spirit, and light a fire of hope.
And that fire would gather—until it became a blaze that couldn't be contained.
Teeth clenched, everyone rushed into the warehouses, hoisting supplies and sprinting back toward the ships at the landing platform.
Ahsoka and Veronica exchanged a glance, then charged into the stairwell without hesitation.
This level of victory wasn't enough for them.
They could do more.
Din Djarin spun his blaster pistol smoothly on his index finger. Two stormtroopers lay motionless behind him.
He had reached the door to the room holding the child he was supposed to rescue.
This mission had been far easier than he expected. He'd assumed he'd have to fight a brutal head-on battle.
Instead, it had been one squad of stormtroopers and four combat droids.
Din Djarin didn't realize it, but that amount of firepower could have crushed an entire royal guard unit from the Core Worlds—or slaughtered multiple towns on an Outer Rim planet.
Mandalorians were formidable combat assets. In the old days, their people could go toe-to-toe with Jedi. Even if they'd fallen from their peak, the lethal skills of their clans hadn't disappeared.
Din Djarin raised his blaster steadily and pressed the door control.
Inside was a stark, simple setup: a single surgical table, some assisting machinery, and rows of boxes on nearby tables stuffed with vials. Within the vials was a blood-red liquid.
Din Djarin advanced slowly, scanning everything with care. He checked every corner that could hide an enemy.
Finally, his eyes fixed on the space behind the surgical table.
"Come out," Din Djarin said. The voice that came through the helmet was muffled and cold.
"D-don't kill me! I'm just a researcher… I didn't do anything!" As expected, a young man crawled out from behind the table.
