UK:GSW Chapter 447 – Ōtsutsuki Hagoromo: This Is an Elder's Second Learning Journey

The feeling of being alive… truly… the feeling of being alive!

How could this be? How could it feel so real?

This place…

Is it really just a world constructed by genjutsu?

Ōtsutsuki Hamura stood in a daze, utterly shocked.

Before long, he realized that not only was he alive again, but even his body had returned to its youth—full of vitality, with peak spirit and energy he had gradually lost with age.

In such a state, Hamura felt as though he was in a dream, as if this were an illusion.

At this moment, Hamura no longer appeared as the spirit form he had been moments ago, nor as the old man from his later years. Instead, he now looked like the youthful version seen only in flashbacks from the original work.

He wore a white Ōtsutsuki robe, with long silver hair, Byakugan in his eyes capable of awakening the Tenseigan, and a white horn on his forehead representing the Ōtsutsuki clan. His appearance was distinctly different from ordinary humans—the non-human traits were obvious. In the modern world, one would call this a classic case of physical mutation.

Of course, in the superstitious ancient era, this was seen as a divine omen—"the visage of a god." Given the status and power of the Sage of Six Paths and his brother in the shinobi world, it truly was the appearance of a god.

Then, Uchiha Kei appeared before Hamura, smiling. "It seems, Hamura-senpai, you are quite satisfied with your current appearance."

Hearing this, Hamura snapped out of his daze and looked toward Uchiha Kei. In an astonished tone, he said, "Among my elder brother's descendants, there truly is an extraordinary figure. This genjutsu effect—its realism even surpasses the Infinite Tsukuyomi. Without carefully sensing and observing, even I can hardly tell the subtle differences between this and the real world."

Uchiha Kei was a little surprised. "Hamura-senpai, you've been inside the Infinite Tsukuyomi's world before?"

Hamura nodded. "Naturally. Since it was a technique created by Mother, my elder brother and I studied it thoroughly. We determined that while its world is realistic, those with enough strength can still detect its falseness. For my brother and me, that falseness was like what you perceive in ordinary genjutsu. Compared to this genjutsu world—it's not even close."

He sighed. "To be honest, I'm beginning to wonder if this is a real world."

Uchiha Kei chuckled. "This is indeed a genjutsu world. But many times, it can also be a second real world. Reality and illusion are, in truth, very subjective concepts."

"At the very least, for some people, the real world is less desirable than the world of genjutsu."

His words carried a subtle implication.

Hearing this, Hamura fell silent, as though pondering the meaning, perhaps recalling certain memories.

Without waiting for Hamura to respond, Uchiha Kei suddenly changed the subject. "Hamura-senpai, do you know why you and your elder brother Hagoromo could not truly bring peace to the shinobi world?"

Hamura looked at him. "Because the shinobi world is always entangled in hatred and conflict. For various reasons, even kin can turn against each other, and so the chain of hatred continues. The result is that the shinobi world has been in constant war since the beginning."

His voice was calm and philosophical—clearly the conclusion the Ōtsutsuki brothers had reached.

Very much in line with the "cycle of hatred" mindset of the Naruto world—abstract and idealistic.

Uchiha Kei did not comment further. He simply snapped his fingers, bringing Hamura into the learning space.

Here, Hamura was puzzled, but Uchiha Kei spoke: "Yes, hatred brings turmoil, and that is one reason the shinobi world cannot have peace—but only one reason, and not the core cause."

"In truth, it is more because in the shinobi world, extraordinary power is held by a small number of individuals. The emotions of those who hold that power—joy, anger, sorrow, and happiness—forcefully drag the shinobi world into changing according to their will."

"Even when such changes are beyond their control."

"For example, the feud between our ancestors Indra and Asura ultimately dragged their clans into a thousand-year grudge."

"But Hamura-senpai, do you know? Beyond this distorted situation shaped by the will of the few, the real reason the shinobi world cannot know peace is because many people do not even know who their true enemy is, nor who is pushing the shinobi world into eternal unrest."

Hamura's expression showed doubt and a desire for answers. He wanted to hear the insight of this exceptional descendant of his elder brother.

Uchiha Kei did not waste words. He immediately activated the learning mode, finding Hamura excellent teachers—so that this ancestor, whose political understanding was worse than that of an elementary school student, could be educated.

Given Hamura's powerful soul and spiritual will, Uchiha Kei maxed out the time dilation, allowing him to experience a time ratio of 117:1 compared to the real world.

This was Uchiha Kei's current limit—achievable only after awakening the Rinnegan. Before, 48:1 had been the maximum.

The Rinnegan's boost had been outrageous, elevating him exponentially in all aspects.

Thus, Hamura was thrown into the learning space, where he systematically learned to deeply understand the naivety of himself and his brother, while gaining structured knowledge of human sociology and class theory.

Only after learning all this would Hamura truly understand how to bring lasting peace to the shinobi world. And regarding Konoha's current undertakings, he would no longer oppose them—perhaps even support them.

After all, though the Ōtsutsuki brothers' ways were idealistic to the point of absurdity, they genuinely wished for the shinobi world's well-being and peace. They were classic "good people"—even saint-like in some ways.

Such people, once given reasons they could accept, might feel regret or sadness over certain matters but would not obstruct someone from doing what was right.

And once they knew that the Ōtsutsuki clan from beyond the world posed a threat to the shinobi world, they would actively offer their strength.

If such an outside force were to invade, and the shinobi world already had a true peace and order established, the Ōtsutsuki brothers would even fight desperately to protect it.

Though they were dead, Uchiha Kei had plenty of means to make them contribute their strength.

After all, Uchiha Kei was the kind of person who wouldn't waste even a scrap of potential.

And so Hamura began his learning journey. At first he was doubtful and confused, but once the lessons began, he was drawn in by the knowledge he had never encountered before—and soon became completely engrossed.

Before long, Hamura understood what "class" was, what "exploitation" was, and the suffering of the lower classes compared to the greed of the upper classes. These were things he had never truly studied before. Though he had some personal insights, he had never received such a systematic, clear analysis—knowledge that, in a feudal age, would be considered dangerous "slay-the-dragon" wisdom.

Then Hamura entered deeper learning, meeting figures who were considered great leaders on Earth, and taking them as teachers—though he was old in age, his thinking was still "confused."

This would take time, because in addition to theory, there were practical simulations. In these, Hamura would live as an ordinary person, experiencing life at the grassroots level.

For someone like Hamura—born at the very pinnacle of the shinobi world—this was a completely new experience.

In anime filler stories, the Ōtsutsuki brothers were weak at birth and developed their strength later. But in the original canon, they were born already possessing the Rinnegan and Tenseigan—true "born in Rome" prodigies.

With their noble status, top-tier talent, and unmatched power, even though they sympathized with mortals, treated them kindly, and even rebelled against their tyrannical mother for them—they could never truly empathize with ordinary people.

The difference in their very being made that impossible.

Even the superhuman shinobi they granted chakra to were hard for them to truly understand. Most people simply followed and revered them, taking their will as law.

Now, however, through the learning space's simulation system, Hamura experienced life as a true ordinary human—weak body, easily exhausted energy, limited strength, injuries that hindered health, and susceptibility to illness.

"Is this… the feeling of being mortal? So, mortals are truly this fragile…"

"But despite such fragility, mortals have created miracles that neither my brother nor Mother could ever create…"

He said this while gazing at skyscrapers, countless lights, and a flourishing cityscape.

This scene left Hamura entranced. A wave of deep emotion surged within him, moistening his eyes.

Then he faced harsh eras—times of hardship before great development—going to rural areas, farmlands, factories, the western frontiers, northern grasslands, and more, experiencing every kind of life.

He learned many things along the way.

Finally, he would be placed in an era of war, to witness those who fought for their beliefs and ideals, and to see humanity's darkest side—experiencing it all firsthand.

When all this education was over, Hamura would surely become a true fighter for change.

Uchiha Kei had full confidence in this, and great expectations.

Meanwhile, outside in the Hidden Leaf Village, an unprecedented change for the Hyuga clan was taking place.

Guess what?

The Ōtsutsuki clan from the moon—sharing the same ancestor and Byakugan—had arrived. They were the Hyuga clan's direct relatives.

Frankly, having such relatives wasn't necessarily bad for the Hyuga. The lunar Ōtsutsuki were truly powerful—overall far beyond the Hyuga clan. In the shinobi world's harsh environment, having such strong kin was unquestionably a good thing.

The problem was… the lunar Ōtsutsuki looked down on the Hyuga, even resented them.

All because of the Caged Bird Seal.

The main house and branch house system wasn't the problem. The lunar Ōtsutsuki also had ancient traditions—the main house handled knowledge and governance, the branch house handled strength and enforcement. Both sides were equal in status, only different in duties.

But the Hyuga?

Their main and branch houses weren't just divided—they were like high and low castes. The branch house were essentially the main house's servants, with their lives controlled by the Caged Bird Seal.

The lunar Ōtsutsuki could hardly believe it.

They knew of the concept of servants—this wasn't strange to them—but they had never seen someone turn their own clan members into servants to be used at will.

Before, the lunar Ōtsutsuki knew a little about the Hyuga's situation, but not the full truth. They had believed the Caged Bird Seal was simply to protect the Byakugan from falling into enemy hands—since that's what the Hyuga themselves claimed.

Now, they truly understood—and saw just how absurd the Hyuga clan had become.

Honestly, upon learning the truth, the more radical members of the lunar Ōtsutsuki even considered "cleansing the clan."
