The notion of the Child of the Plane has always existed. Throughout history, there have been many figures showered with fortune, such as Elminster, Shirek, and Vikner, to name a few. While not all prominent figures rise to power solely relying on fortune, it is undeniable that those blessed with fortune find it easier to rise again. In the Crystal Wall System, individuals who ascend without any fortune are exceedingly rare, and such beings are usually immensely powerful. When one's strength reaches a certain level, fortune will automatically seek them out.
To put it more harshly, when you reach a certain level of power, even misfortune won't dare to approach you; it will only dare to seek your enemies.
This is also why so many people pray for the favor of the Goddess of Fortune while secretly cursing her as a fickle goddess of luck.
