"Ah!" A shrill scream echoed through the desolate street. The rat, who had just escaped the driver's seat and hadn't had time to rejoice at his narrow escape, was suddenly torn by a zombie that lunged from behind, ripping off a large chunk of muscle.
The pain, excruciating pain, the rat had never experienced such a bone-deep agony. Fresh, red blood spurted everywhere like a splashing fountain, quickly pooling into a puddle beneath him.
Instinctively, the rat pressed his hand against his shoulder, hoping to slow the blood loss. But as soon as his right hand touched his shoulder, something even more dreadful occurred. He could clearly feel a rotting, icy breath closing in on his face, followed by that gut-wrenching pain.
Four fingers were abruptly torn off in front of his eyes by the zombie. Watching the zombie savoring his fingers, the rat seemed either too scared to react or the inhuman pain had left him powerless to escape.
He just sat there dumbfounded, motionless.
