The wind moved softly through the balcony as silence settled between them.
Miles remained standing for a long moment, his hands resting on the railing as he looked toward the distant skyline of Star Harbor.
The city looked peaceful.
Too peaceful.
Behind him, Edna quietly watched the young man who carried the blood of two powerful families and the weight of a broken past.
After a long pause, Miles finally spoke.
"I don't really know what to say."
His voice was calm, but something deeper moved beneath it.
"When I first started going on missions in Graveyard…"
He slowly turned around.
"At the beginning it was just motivation."
"I wanted to prove I could do what I was trained for."
His eyes softened slightly as distant memories surfaced.
"I looked up to my senior comrades."
"I tried to become like them."
He let out a quiet breath.
"But after a while…"
"It became normal."
"Too normal."
