Chapter 271 - Chapter 270: Hua Alliance's Calamity

Dense, dark-grey clouds blanketed the skies above the Jia Ma Empire, rolling thunder rumbling endlessly within their depths.

Bang!

Without warning, a thunderous explosion erupted across the clouds, its deafening roar spreading ceaselessly through the sky. The sudden disturbance drew countless gazes upward, every eye fixed upon the sky.

At the epicenter of the blast, a massive cloud condensed from pure energy slowly took form. Beside it, a longsword radiating a razor-sharp aura pierced through the cloud as if cutting open the heavens themselves.

All who witnessed it instantly recognized the sign—the Misty Cloud Sect's signal.

Shock rippled through the city as hushed commotions rose like waves. Everyone understood the meaning behind this mark. Could it be that the Misty Cloud Sect truly intended to strike against the Primer Clan, Snake-People and Xiao Clan?

From within the Primer Clan's hall, many figures surged outward. Their eyes locked upon the ominous mark above, their expressions grave and solemn. Yet, not a trace of fear could be seen—only unwavering determination.

"Primer Clan, Queen Medusa—hand over the remaining members of the Xiao Clan and Xiao Hua's daughter! Otherwise, today shall be the day both of you are erased!"

A cold, imperious voice resounded through the heavens, carried by an overwhelming surge of Dou Qi. Its thunderous force reverberated across the entire Sacred City of Jia Ma, leaving no one unmoved.

Ya Fei, Xiao Di, and several elders rushed out from the hall. In the skies above, Cai Lin, the Little Fairy Doctor, Hai Bodong, Xiao Yan, and Xiao Li had already appeared, their gazes solemnly fixed on the place where the Dou Qi eruption had taken root.

Behind them stood the Eight Tribe Leaders and Grand Elders of the Snake-People Tribe, along with many powerful experts from the Primer Clan, their presence forming a mighty wall of support.

"It seems they've arrived. Clearly, they're desperate to capture the Supreme Elder's daughter."

A cold, disdainful voice rang out as Xiao Tao appeared beside them. The sharp chill within his tone revealed his utter contempt for the approaching enemies.

"Grand Elder Tao, how is your condition?" Xiao Yan asked, his brows furrowed, knowing well that Xiao Tao had yet to recover his peak strength.

He had learned that Xiao Tao was poisoned three days prior. If not for the Little Fairy Doctor's timely intervention, his condition would have worsened. Though stabilized, his body still demanded rest.

"Rest assured, Clan Leader," Xiao Tao replied with a firm nod. "Though I am not at my peak, I can still fight the two of them and stall their advance. Besides, do you think our enemies would ever allow me the luxury of rest?" His eyes gleamed with battle intent as his aura surged faintly.

Xiao Yan gave a dry smile at those words. He could not deny the truth in them—no matter the state of his injuries, Xiao Tao would not be spared from battle.

Cai Lin slowly shook her head, lifting her gaze toward the horizon. Numerous figures were already streaking through the sky toward them, while a vast sea of cultivators surged across the ground below, pressing forth like a tide.

"Familiar faces indeed… Ten Thousand Scorpion Gate's Leader and Ancestor—Xie Shan and Xie Biyan. The Three Mulan Elders of Mulan Valley. Gold Geese Sect's Yan Luo Tian. And even a few Dou Zun experts I've never seen before…"

"The Dou Zun experts can be left to me and the elders of Moonlit Chaos Mansion," the Little Fairy Doctor said, her voice cold as a poisonous aura seeped from her body, filling the air with a deadly chill. "Most likely, they're here to delay us while others search for Xiao Yuyan. If so, they shall be the ones delayed."

Though the enemy possessed three more Dou Zun experts than their side, she was confident. With the high-ranking elders present, they could hold all of them at bay. It would not be easy, but given time, they could prevail.

"Then Yun Shan is mine," Xiao Yan declared, his killing intent surging like fire. His eyes locked onto the figure standing at the heart of the enemy army. "With my current strength, I will defeat him without fail."

Cai Lin gave a nod, swiftly assigning the remaining enemies among their ranks. Turning to Ya Fei, she gestured that the distribution was complete.

Ya Fei stepped forward, her beautiful face turning frosty, eyes gleaming with steely resolve. Her cold voice rang out like a war drum across the skies:

"Primer Clan, Xiao Clan, Snake-People—no matter our origin, at this moment we stand as one! Slay any who dare intrude upon this mansion!"

"Understood!"

The cry thundered back, loud and resolute, shaking the walls of the Primer Clan. Not a single soul wavered. None here feared the Misty Cloud Sect or its so-called allies.

Rumble!

A deafening war drum thundered across the heavens the instant the rallying cry erupted. Countless figures surged forth, forming ranks before the Primer Clan. Some unfurled Dou Qi wings and hovered in midair, while others simply stood upon the void itself, gazes sharp and sneers curling at their lips.

At the forefront, Yun Shan's cold smile lingered as his eyes swept across the assembled forces. When his gaze fell upon Xiao Yan, his expression flickered. The moment he sensed the young man's aura—undeniably that of a Dou Huang, and at its very peak—his heart trembled violently.

Within a few short years, the youth he had once cast out like a stray dog had climbed to such a terrifying height!

Yet his shock eased somewhat when he recalled another name—Xiao Hua. Compared to that monstrous existence, Xiao Yan's growth was far less surprising. With that thought, Yun Shan forced his heart to calm, though no amount of reasoning could wash away the regret gnawing at him. He had once allowed this tiger to escape his grasp—and now, that tiger had grown fangs far sharper than before.

Just as bitterness brewed in Yun Shan's heart, a man in golden robes stepped forward. Behind him spread a pair of massive, radiant goose wings, shimmering like divine light. His gaze fixed greedily upon Cai Lin's alluring figure, and his booming laughter echoed arrogantly across the skies.

"Queen Medusa, have you reconsidered? Will you surrender and hand over the members of the Xiao Clan?"

A cold glint flickered in Cai Lin's long, narrow eyes. She stepped forward lightly, her presence calm yet unyielding, her gaze sweeping across the enemy host without the slightest tremor. As the ruler of the Snake-People Tribe and leader of the Hua Alliance, years of bearing responsibility had tempered her spirit—fear had long been cast aside.

"The Hua Alliance will not surrender its people—no matter how small or insignificant they may seem. And as for abandoning someone merely because you demand it… that is something I, Cai Lin, will never allow! Yan Luo Tian!"

"Haha! Truly worthy of the name Queen Medusa," a cold laugh rang out as the three Mulan Elders stepped forth, smiles sharp and voices brimming with mockery. "A hero among women indeed. Very well—today, let us see how long you can hold out against all of us!"

"Mulan Three Elders!" Hai Bodong's eyes narrowed slightly as he uttered their name. He had crossed blades with them before and, even with his strength, he had only managed to eke out a slight advantage.

Their Qi Method—fusing three auras into one—was both strange and formidable, making them opponents few dared to underestimate.

"Your side is already lacking several Dou Zong experts, Queen Medusa. Forcing this matter further will only lead to a bloody outcome."

The faint, hoarse voice came from a hunched, white-haired elder. His cloudy eyes swept over Cai Lin, carrying an almost dismissive calm. Clad in plain, worn robes, he looked no different from an ordinary old man—but those who knew him were well aware of the ruthlessness hidden beneath his façade.

"Xie Biyan…!" Xiao Tao's teeth clenched tightly as he glared with ice-cold hatred at the elder. It was this man who had poisoned him days ago—though only with the aid of three Dou Zong experts to pin him down.

"Enough of this pointless chatter. If our plan is delayed because of your nonsense, all of you will bear the consequences."

A cold, sinister voice cut through the air from behind Yun Shan's group.

The expressions of many shifted instantly as they turned their gazes toward the speaker. There, draped in black robes, stood a man wreathed in an eerie dark-purple glow. His twisted smile carried a chill that seeped into the bones of all who looked upon him.

This man was none other than Zhai Xing Tianzun—one of the Tianzuns who had once suffered grievous defeat at the hands of the Little Fairy Doctor. His left arm was long gone, and venom still lingered in his body, corroding his meridians and forever crippling his path of cultivation.

His gaze now locked upon the Little Fairy Doctor, burning with hatred so fierce it seemed to poison the very air. Of all those present whom he despised, she was the one he loathed the most—his number one enemy.

"Heh… so this old ghost has truly become a one-armed cripple." The Little Fairy Doctor's cold laugh cut through the air, mocking as her poisonous aura subtly stirred. She could clearly sense the seething hatred Zhai Xing directed at her, and she did not hesitate to strike at his sorest wound.

Her voice was not low, and naturally Zhai Xing heard it. His expression instantly sank, gloom twisting his face as his hand gripped the empty sleeve at his side. The killing intent in his eyes surged like a storm, for this was a taboo none dared mention before him.

"What are you all waiting for?" Zhai Xing's voice was soft yet laced with an icy malice that made even the surrounding experts shudder.

"Since Zhai Xing Tianzun has spoken…"

The gathered experts cupped their fists, then turned as one toward Cai Lin and the Primer Clan's mansion. With a sweeping motion of their sleeves, sharp cries erupted together—

"Attack!"

Bang!

The word had scarcely left their mouths before the Dou Zong experts surged forth, leading the charge. They stormed toward Cai Lin and the others, while Zhai Xing and several Dou Zun directed their fury toward the Little Fairy Doctor.

"Heavenly Poison Woman!" Zhai Xing roared, his ferocious face contorting with hatred. "Today you will repay me for this arm!"

A vast tide of Dou Qi burst from his body, shaking the heavens and earth. His murderous bellow reverberated like a thunderclap, drowning the battlefield in killing intent.

"I'll take your life this time, old ghost!" The Little Fairy Doctor's roar rang out, her poisonous aura erupting violently—cold as frost and scorching as flame, terrifying and deadly all at once.

Bang!

In the next instant, she and the elders of the Moonlit Chaos Mansion surged forward, clashing head-on with Zhai Xing and the other Dou Zun experts.

"Sister Ya Fei, First Young Master Xiao Ding—Xiao Yuyan is in your care! Ensure her safety at all costs!"

Cai Lin's beautiful eyes swept toward Ya Fei and Xiao Ding, her voice carrying through the heart even without sound. With a wave of her sleeves, she too led the charge, her figure streaking forward as everyone engaged their chosen foes.

The combined forces of the Xiao Clan, Primer Clan, and Snake-People roared into battle. Rich fighting intent and murderous aura erupted from their bodies, shaking the very air as heaven and earth seemed to tremble before their will.

Ya Fei and Xiao Ding exchanged a single glance. Without words, both nodded, determination burning within their eyes.

Even though Cai Lin had already rushed ahead without waiting for their reply, they silently swore the same vow in their hearts—Xiao Yuyan would be protected.

Xiao Yan activated the First Level of the Burning Flame Valley's Secret Technique. With four Heavenly Flames surging within his body, his strength skyrocketed, instantly pushing him to the realm of a five-star Dou Zong.

Yet, this was still incomplete. He only possessed the First Level—and only four Heavenly Flames. Had he successfully refined the Tier 6 medicinal pill earlier, he would have obtained a fifth Heavenly Flame, and even with just the First Level, his strength would have climbed to even greater heights.

"Old dog Yun Shan!" Xiao Yan's eyes blazed with killing intent, his voice like thunder. "The blood debt you owe the Xiao Clan—today, I, Xiao Yan, shall claim it with your life!"

Without hesitation, he shot forward, the heavy black ruler in his hand gleaming with a cold, oppressive light. This weapon had accompanied him since the earliest days of his journey, and now it descended with all the weight of his fury, hacking down toward Yun Shan like a mountain.

"Hmph! Xiao Yan, you were nothing but a stray I once drove out of the empire like a beaten dog. Today, I'll prove that I can do it again!"

Yun Shan's cold shout erupted as his Dou Qi surged madly. His aura exploded outward, climbing rapidly until it reached the peak of nine-star Dou Zong.

His hand twisted into a strange claw-like form before striking forward, meeting Xiao Yan's descending black ruler without the slightest hesitation.

Bang!

The instant they collided, a violent shockwave burst forth, splitting the very air. Space trembled under the force of their clash as waves of destructive energy rippled outward.

In the blink of an eye, countless battles erupted across the field. Whether Dou Wang or Dou Huang, ordinary disciples or high-ranking elders—none held back. Blades and spears clashed, fists and palms struck with bone-shattering force. Blood spattered the ground as cries of rage mixed with screams of agony, echoing without end.

Even those who stood on the sidelines watching could not help but feel their hearts tremble. Cold dread seeped into their bones, horrified by the sheer savagery before them.

Ya Fei and Xiao Ding watched with grim expressions. It was clear to both that this battle would not stop until one side was utterly annihilated.

"Lady Ya Fei," Xiao Ding said solemnly, his gaze sweeping across the chaotic battlefield. "Allow me to hold the line here. You must take Young Lady Xiao Yuyan and leave. The battlefield will only grow fiercer, and this place will not remain safe for long."

He had already judged the situation—if they did not move quickly, the tide of battle might soon engulf Xiao Yuyan.

"Heh… thinking of leaving? How could it be that easy?"

Before Ya Fei could respond, a chilling laugh cut through the air. Ghost-like figures suddenly rushed forth, their forms blurring as they appeared in midair. Their sinister chuckles echoed as they hovered above, blocking the path.

"Dou Zong…" Xiao Ding's eyes narrowed grimly, his expression wasn't looking good. He knew that the other side has brought a few more Dou Zong experts.

Cai Lin and the others quickly sensed the danger and wanted to rush to aid Ya Fei and Xiao Ding. Yet they could not break away from their own opponents. The enemy clearly would not allow it. Even if they could not overpower Cai Lin's group outright, delaying them was still within their ability.

"Hmph! A couple of mere unstable one-star Dou Zongs dare act presumptuous here? You overestimate yourselves!"

A cold laugh suddenly split the air. A slim, tall figure appeared before the Dou Zong experts, her delicate curves faintly revealed through her robes. Though her presence was graceful, her aura carried a sharpness that made it clear she was no ordinary beauty.

"Sky Serpent Mansion!"

The unexpected arrival startled both Xiao Ding and Ya Fei. Though they did not recognize the woman, the emblem upon her robes revealed her identity—she belonged to one of the renowned powers of the Northwestern Region.

"Why has someone from the Sky Serpent Mansion involved themselves in the Hall of Souls' affairs?" one of the Dou Zong experts demanded coldly, his eyes narrowing. "Do you understand that this will set your faction against ours?"

His tone brimmed with disdain, utterly dismissing the force standing behind the young woman before him.

The mysterious figure offered no reply. Instead, her pair of beautiful jade-green eyes lit up. Within them, a strange formation manifested—two eyes etched with three rotating emerald spots. The orbs circled slowly, exuding a demonic and unfathomable aura.

Bang! Bang!

The moment the formation emerged, the Dou Zong experts faltered, their minds momentarily clouded. Seizing the opening, the mysterious figure's silhouette flashed forward. Her palms struck out in swift succession, landing heavily on their chests.

Pu!

The two Dou Zong experts were flung backward, their bodies smashing against the walls before they barely managed to stabilize. Blood gushed from their mouths, their faces paling.

"Sky Serpent Mansion… This feeling… Could it be—you, Qing Lin?" The Little Fairy Doctor's pupils trembled. That fluctuation was one she would never forget.

"Hehe… Older Sister Fairy Doctor has grown even more beautiful since we last met." The delicate figure did not deny it, her cheerful laughter carrying across the battlefield.

The one who had appeared and halted the Dou Zongs was none other than Qing Lin!

She had rushed here as soon as the news reached her. Unfortunately, at the time she received the message, she had been away from Sky Serpent Mansion and could not summon reinforcements.

Though she had already dispatched a message to the elders, she knew it would take several days before they arrived in the Jia Ma Empire.

Even so, Little Fairy Doctor sighed in relief at Qing Lin's timely arrival. She and the others were already locked in fierce combat, unable to disengage from their battlefield.

As her gaze lingered on Qing Lin, a surge of nostalgia welled within her heart. The image of the once timid, adorable little girl surfaced in her mind—yet before she realized it, that child had grown into a graceful beauty.

Though years had passed since their separation, in her eyes Qing Lin remained the same little sister she once cherished.

Taking a deep breath, Little Fairy Doctor steadied her emotions. Her voice rang out soft and pleasant, carrying both warmth and resolve.

"Qing Lin, protect them. It won't be long before I deal with this crippled old ghost before me."

"I understand, Older Sister Little Fairy Doctor." Qing Lin inclined her head, then turned toward Ya Fei and Xiao Ding. Her tone was firm yet gentle. "Please be at ease, Older Sister Ya Fei, Leader Xiao Ding. I will not allow anyone to pass through."

"You… you're Qing Lin?" Xiao Ding's mouth fell open, disbelief flashing in his eyes. The delicate young woman before him was actually the maidservant once cast aside and scorned in Rock Desert City.

"Hehe… thank you, little sister. This child is far too important to us." Ya Fei's laughter carried heartfelt gratitude as she hugged the girl tightly in her arms.

Qing Lin's emerald gaze swept toward the little one within Ya Fei's embrace. A faint familiarity stirred in her heart, linking the child to a certain someone she could never forget. In that instant, she understood the true reason behind their relentless clash with the Primer Family.

"I see… very well. Leave this place to me. I promise, not a single soul will pursue you." Qing Lin's tone turned cold as a green glow flared within her pupils. The space before her began to ripple and distort.

From the distortion, serpentine figures emerged one after another. Each was a serpent-type magical beast, their scales gleaming under the strange light. The pressure rolling off them was suffocating—every single one of them a sixth-ranked beast, their might equivalent to that of a Dou Huang.

Everyone felt disbelief and shocked to see an army of snake-type Magical Beasts that she summoned out of nowhere.

"Go!"

With a single command, Qing Lin pointed toward the battlefield. The vast army of serpent-type Magical Beasts surged forward like a living tide, tearing into the enemy ranks. Their presence immediately relieved the pressure on her allies, reducing the mounting casualties.

Even the few Dou Zong experts present found themselves trapped. Though they bore the title of Dou Zong, their cultivation was only at the one-star level.

Worse still, their strength had been forcefully elevated by Zhai Xing, making them far weaker than ordinary Dou Zongs. Against the encirclement of countless Magical Beasts, they dared not lower their guard.

"Useless fools!" Zhai Xing spat venomously, his expression dark as his eyes swept over the faltering Dou Zongs. These so-called experts had once been mere Dou Huangs until he had forcibly pushed them into the Dou Zong realm through an unorthodox method.

Of course, such a method left them crippled—they could no longer advance further. But Zhai Xing cared nothing for their future. So long as they served his purpose and helped him complete his mission, they were tools well spent.

Yet even with this method, he had expected them to at least tip the balance of the deadlock. What he had not foreseen was the sudden arrival of reinforcements—let alone that his men would be utterly suppressed by the woman from Sky Serpent Mansion.

"Quite the trick you have, Old Ghost. Unfortunately, it won't work." Little Fairy Doctor's voice was laced with killing intent, cold and sharp. Her fury was evident—those Dou Zongs' vile actions had thoroughly enraged her.

"Ke ke… I'll admit those fools are useless," Zhai Xing sneered, his laughter chilling, "but they still managed to reveal the location of Xiao Hua's daughter!"

His words caused Little Fairy Doctor's expression to turn grim. At last, she understood—the true purpose of their attack on Ya Fei, or rather, Xiao Yuyan. Success or failure mattered little; what they sought was the reaction of those around her. Once confirmed, their target would be fixed. From this moment onward, Xiao Hua's child would never escape their sights.

"Ke ke… If that's the case, then it seems I've arrived at the perfect time."

Suddenly, the space behind them rippled. A strange fluctuation surged, spreading outward like waves on water. The fabric of space itself tore apart, opening into a dark, yawning void. From within, a monstrous aura erupted, sweeping across the battlefield like a storm.

At the sound of the aged voice and the oppressive familiarity of the aura, Little Fairy Doctor's expression grew solemn. She instantly recognized who had arrived.

An instant later, a gray-robed elder slowly stepped out of the spatial rift, his figure materializing before all eyes.

"As expected… First Tianzun—Gu You!"

"Sir First Tianzun, Xiao Hua's child is that little girl!" Zhai Xing cupped his fists, his voice urgent as he swiftly pointed toward Xiao Yuyan cradled in Ya Fei's arms.

"Oh?" Gu You's cold, indifferent voice echoed. "Then, this old man shall be taking her back to the Hall of Souls."

The moment his words fell, his figure vanished. In the blink of an eye, he reappeared before Ya Fei, his withered hand stretching forth, aiming to seize Xiao Yuyan without hesitation.

"Bastard!"

A furious roar erupted as Qing Lin's aura surged forth. Her emerald-green eyes shone brilliantly, releasing a dazzling radiance as a massive formation unfolded before her. Though she could feel the crushing terror within Gu You's strength, she still spread her wings of defiance. She knew resistance was useless—yet still, she would block him.

For her, the child's life outweighed her own.

But Qing Lin was not alone. One after another, several figures appeared, stepping forward to stand at her side.

"Ke ke… This old man owes Xiao Hua a debt. How could I remain idle while his child is being target by the likes of you?"

"An old thing dares to touch Cousin Xiao Hua's daughter? Even if this crippled body shatters, you'll have to step over me first!"

"Us brothers owe the Supreme Elder too much. How can I watch an old dog like you lay hands on her?"

The ones who stood firm were Xiao Ding, whose cultivation lingered only at Dou Ling; Xiao Yang, missing one arm yet unyielding; and even Yao Chen—reduced to a spiritual body. None of them wavered. Though their strength was meager before a First Tianzun, their spines remained unbent as they faced the monstrous aura of Gu You.

Exchanging glances, the four revealed faint smiles. Without hesitation, they unleashed the strongest techniques at their disposal—attacks that could be cast swiftly, leaving no time wasted.

"Thousand Thorn Blade!"

Xiao Ding bellowed. In an instant, thick vines as large as a man's arm burst forth from the ground, intertwining into a massive, jagged sword. Its surface bristled with thorns as thick as a man's thigh, gleaming with a vicious edge.

"Blazing Emperor Fist!"

Xiao Yang's roar followed. Fiery-red energy surged wildly from the void and gathered into his fist, flames burning so hot they scorched the very air. When he struck, the ground hissed and sizzled, white vapors rising in waves.

"Flame Splitting Tsunami!"

Yao Chen's spiritual body trembled, condensing a massive ruler of pure Spiritual Strength. Fiery light bled into its form as he swung in a strange arc. From it tore forth a crescent blaze—like a tidal wave of flame splitting the heavens.

"Jade Snake Three Flower Pupils!"

Emerald brilliance erupted from Qing Lin's eyes. The three-flower pupils shone with dazzling radiance, releasing a mesmerizing, otherworldly aura. Any who met her gaze felt their minds falter, their spirits wavering under her full power.

"Futile resistance."

Gu You's narrowed eyes gleamed coldly, a cruel smile tugging at his withered face as he swept his sleeve.

Bang!

The combined attacks of Xiao Ding, Xiao Yang, and Yao Chen shattered instantly, dissolving into nothingness under his casual wave. Even Qing Lin's mesmerizing illusion collapsed before it could take root—the gulf in strength was far too vast.

The four figures were flung backward like broken kites, slamming into the walls with sickening thuds. Mouthfuls of blood burst from their lips, their auras flickering weakly. However mighty they might be in the North-Western Region, before a Ban Sheng expert like Gu You, they were utterly insignificant.

"Tsk, tsk…"

Gu You's eerie laughter echoed as his figure blurred. In the blink of an eye, he reappeared before Ya Fei, who had desperately retreated into the distance. A strange, twisted smile spread across his face.

"This time, no one will stop me from taking this little girl."

"Yuyan!" Cai Lin's voice trembled with fury as she caught sight of him. Without hesitation, she lunged forward, killing intent blazing in her eyes. Yet Yan Luo Tian and the other Dou Zong experts entangled her at once, barring her path.

"Get out of my sight!" she roared, her power surging violently as she fought to break through.

Little Fairy Doctor, Xiao Yan, Hai Bodong, and Xiao Tao naturally noticed the danger as well, but Zhai Xing, Yun Shan, the Three Mulan Elders, and Xie Bi Shan barred their way, not allowing a single step of escape.

Ya Fei's eyes widened—not at the shriveled hand reaching toward Xiao Yuyan in her arms, but at the sudden appearance of four pairs of radiant wings etched like a tattoo upon the child's brow. They shimmered with a soft, divine glow, beautiful yet mysterious.

She remembered seeing a fleeting trace of them when Gu You first appeared, dismissing it then as a trick of her eyes. But now, she was certain. This was no illusion. Though she could not understand the phenomenon fully, she could feel it deep within her heart—Xiao Yuyan's bloodline was calling out, reaching for its kin.

And since her daughter's race was newly born, there could only be one person in this world who shared such a bloodline.

As that realization struck, a familiar voice rang out from behind her. The moment she heard it, warmth and tenderness flooded her being, dispelling the despair that had gripped her heart. A firm hand pressed gently against her back.

"Gu You…" the voice was low, steady, and filled with killing intent. "You truly don't value your life, do you? Since when was an old dog like you allowed to lay a filthy, shriveled hand on my precious wife and daughter?"
