Chapter 67 - The Miracle of Love

 When Love Begs to Stay

The night was slowly growing deeper.

Far across the vast sky, countless stars shimmered silently, while the moon shone above in all its brilliance. The waves of the sea gathered the moonlight into their restless embrace, carrying its silver reflection upon their backs before crashing against the shore again and again.

Yet, completely unaware of the beauty surrounding him, one man stood silently on the balcony.

It was none other than Ramish.

He had been standing there for what felt like an eternity, his eyes fixed upon the moon.

There was no new question troubling him now.

Nor was he searching for an answer.

There was only a silence...

A silence in which countless voices of his heart lay buried.

Sometimes his eyes wandered toward the moon.

Sometimes they drifted toward the endless sea stretching into the darkness.

The strong wind continuously played with his hair and clothes, wrapping itself around him again and again. Yet Ramish felt neither the cold nor the passing of time.

It was as though, at that moment, there was only one thing in the entire world that mattered to him.

Richer.

At last, after a long and heavy silence, Ramish drew a deep breath and slowly turned away from the balcony.

He quietly returned to the room.

The moment he stepped inside, his eyes immediately fell upon Richer.

He was lying peacefully on the bed, completely exhausted, lost in a deep and undisturbed sleep.

Ramish stood near the doorway for several moments, simply looking at him.

There was something incredibly tender in his gaze.

He then slowly walked toward the bed and sat down on the floor beside it.

Gently, he reached for Richer's hand and held it between both of his own.

For a long while, he remained silent.

He simply stared at Richer's sleeping face, as if seeking the answers to all his questions in that face.

Then, slowly, his lips began to move.

"Richer..."

There was an unusual moisture in his voice.

His voice trembled ever so slightly.

"Dreams no longer come to these eyes..."

He paused for a moment.

His fingers gently tightened around Richer's hand.

"Because you..."

He swallowed softly.

"You have taken up residence upon my every eyelid."

His eyes remained fixed upon Richer's sleeping face.

"You are with me every moment... every hour... every breath. You have already built yourself a home inside the world of my heart."

His voice became quieter.

"I have begun to believe every word you say."

Ramish's lips trembled.

"And I..."

He drew another deep breath, as though gathering the courage to speak the truth that had already taken over his entire being.

"I only love you, Richer."

The words escaped his lips with a tenderness that seemed almost painful.

As he said them, his eyes slowly filled with tears.

It was as though even his eyes were asking for something in return from love.

Not more affection.

Not more beautiful words.

Only certainty.

Ramish slowly lowered his face and rested it against Richer's hand.

He gently pressed Richer's fingers against his cheek.

The warmth of that touch seemed to calm something inside him.

In a barely audible voice, he whispered,

"Richer... there is a peace in the touch of your hand that I cannot find anywhere else."

His voice became even softer.

"When you touch me..."

He closed his eyes.

"It feels as though you have completed the part of me that was always incomplete."

Silence spread throughout the room.

A deep, almost sacred silence.

The only sound that could be heard was the slow and peaceful rhythm of Richer's breathing.

And every now and then...

the quiet sound of Ramish trying to hold back a sob.

For a while, Ramish remained exactly where he was.

Then, slowly, he lifted his face from Richer's hand.

He raised his own hand toward Richer's face and gently brushed aside a few strands of hair that had fallen across his forehead.

His eyes were now clearly filled with tears.

"Richer..."

His voice broke.

"Don't leave me."

A single tear escaped from the corner of his eye and slowly rolled down his cheek.

"Promise me..."

He fell silent.

His lips trembled as though the next words were too painful to say.

"Promise me that you will remain in my heart just like this..."

He took a shaky breath.

"Not as a memory..."

His voice grew weaker.

"But as love."

More tears began to fall from his eyes.

"Richer..."

His fingers tightened around Richer's hand again.

"Please don't leave me."

There was helplessness in his voice now.

"I won't be able to live without you."

His voice cracked.

"When I met you... I learned how to live again."

He lowered his gaze.

"You brought colors back into a life that had forgotten what happiness felt like."

Another tear slipped down his cheek.

"And now..."

He struggled to steady his breathing.

"Now that I have found you again..."

His voice trembled with fear.

"I don't think I can survive another separation."

He looked at Richer's sleeping face.

"Not this time."

His eyes filled with more tears.

"Not after coming this far."

He gently stroked Richer's hand.

"I cannot bear another distance between us."

Ramish's shoulders trembled as a quiet sob escaped him.

"I have already lost you once..."

His voice became almost a whisper.

"I don't know if I have the strength to lose you again."

His tears continued to fall.

"I don't know how I would wake up one morning and find that you are no longer here."

He paused.

"How would I breathe in a world where your voice no longer reaches me?"

He closed his eyes.

"How would I look at the moon without remembering you?"

His voice broke completely.

"How would I continue living when the person who taught me to live is no longer beside me?"

But Richer remained deeply asleep.

Completely unaware.

Unaware of the pain sitting beside him.

Unaware that the man holding his hand was silently breaking apart.

Richer slept peacefully, untouched by the storm raging inside Ramish's heart.

Suddenly, the moonlight entering through the window began to fade.

Ramish instinctively lifted his eyes toward the sky.

Dark clouds were gathering around the moon again.

Slowly at first...

Then faster.

Within moments, the sky had become covered with thick, black clouds.

The moon disappeared behind them.

And then—

the rain began.

At first, only a few drops struck against the glass.

But within moments, the rain grew heavier.

The wind rushed through the balcony, carrying the cold night air into the room.

It seemed almost as though nature itself had become a silent witness to Ramish's grief.

As though the sky had finally understood what his heart had been unable to say.

Ramish remained seated beside the bed for a while longer, silently allowing his tears to fall.

He did not try to stop them anymore.

He had spent so long hiding his pain behind smiles, strength, and comforting words.

But tonight...

there was no one in front of whom he needed to pretend.

After some time, the heaviness inside his chest seemed to ease just a little.

He slowly released Richer's hand.

He carefully adjusted the blanket over him, making sure he was warm and comfortable.

Then Ramish quietly rose from the floor and walked toward the balcony.

He immediately closed the window.

For a moment, he stood there, watching the storm outside.

Lightning tore across the dark sky.

Thunder rolled heavily through the night.

Rain poured down with all its force, striking the balcony, the streets, and the restless sea.

But Ramish knew...

The storm outside was nothing compared to the storm raging within him.

He stood there for several moments.

His eyes remained fixed upon the rain.

Perhaps he was hoping that somehow the storm would carry away his fears.

Perhaps he was hoping that the rain could wash away the questions that had been haunting him.

But some fears cannot be washed away.

And some questions...

only time can answer.

Ramish finally turned away from the window.

His steps were slow and tired.

He walked toward the nearby sofa and lowered himself onto it.

His body felt exhausted.

His heart even more so.

He rested his head against the sofa and closed his eyes.

Within a short while, sleep slowly embraced him.

Perhaps even sleep wanted to silence the pain in his heart for a little while.

Perhaps, for a few hours, it wanted to give him the peace that reality could not.

But even as Ramish drifted into sleep...

the question remained.

Deep inside his heart, it was still alive.

Still waiting.

Still demanding an answer.

A question that only the coming days could answer.

Would Richer really leave Ramish and walk away?

Or...

Would Ramish's love prove stronger than the fear standing between them?

And perhaps the greatest question of all was this—

If love is truly sincere, can it tear down every wall standing between two human hearts?

Outside, the storm continued.

The sea continued to roar.

The rain continued to fall.

The moon remained hidden behind the clouds.

And inside that quiet room, two hearts existed only a few steps apart.

One was sleeping peacefully, unaware of the tears shed for him.

The other had finally fallen asleep after a night of fighting battles no one else could see.

Yet somewhere between the sound of rain and the silence of the night, their story remained suspended between two possibilities—

Love...

And Separation.
