The long-awaited moment had finally arrived—Zuko and Azula had truly reunited with Ursa.
For everyone, it felt like witnessing a miracle. And as the one who worked the hardest to make this happen, Kahn naturally felt relieved and genuinely happy for them.
What pleased him even more was that the scenario he had worried about—Azula and Ursa clashing—never occurred.
In fact, things went far better than expected. Ursa's sincere confession seemed to melt the frost in Azula's heart.
Azula had already broken free from Ozai's manipulation, but questions about Ursa still lingered.
These were doubts no outsider could resolve. Only Ursa's own words could heal them.
For now, everything was unfolding in the best possible way.
On the journey back, Ursa held Azula's arm and spoke to her gently.
They looked like an ordinary, close mother and daughter.
Azula, however, visibly stiff and awkward, didn't quite know how to respond—something that shocked Kahn more than any spirit encounter ever could.
"By the way, aren't you going to talk with them?" Kahn asked Zuko, who was walking beside him.
"No. Azula needs this moment more than I do. I'll have time with Mother later." He said it calmly, but there was warmth in his voice.
Their plan required Ursa to soon travel to the Fire Nation Capital to expose Ozai's true nature.
Azula also had a mission from him and couldn't linger outside for too long. Kahn still had tasks left by Iroh, so escorting Ursa himself meant plenty of time with her.
Of course, not everyone felt at ease with Ursa's restored memories.
Ikem's emotions were mixed and hard to hide. Kiyi also showed resistance—she had liked staying close to Ursa on their way there, but now avoided her, sticking closely to Ikem and only occasionally approaching Zuko. Her little face was filled with confusion.
Kahn understood. She was a child. It was normal.
Zuko also noticed Ikem's troubled expression and went to speak with him.
"Uncle Ikem… are you alright?"
Ikem forced a small smile, "Are you talking about Ursa? I'm fine. This is how it should be."
He paused, then sighed. "Actually… it was my selfishness that persuaded Ursa to forget everything. I know that's unfair to you. I should be the one apologizing."
"There's no need," Zuko replied softly.
"When I was small, I once saw Mother crying alone. Even though she looked strong, she must have been suffering in the palace. I guess you wanted to help her forget that pain."
Ikem stared at Zuko, stunned that such maturity came from someone so young. Then he remembered—Zuko, Azula, and Kahn were not ordinary children.
Their hardships, their battles, and their unyielding will had shaped them far beyond their years.
"Thank you," Ikem said quietly. "I was also worried about Ursa and Kiyi's future. But listening to you… I feel much more at ease."
Zuko looked into his eyes and spoke firmly:
"If anyone wants to harm them, they'll have to step over my corpse first. Everyone will be safe. I promise."
Then, after a short pause, he added.
"And… if Uncle Ikem doesn't mind, I'd like to call you Father. You deserve that title more than Ozai ever did."
"Pff—!"
Ikem choked on his own breath, coughing violently.
"I… don't mind," he managed with a pained smile. "But maybe we should discuss that later. It's a bit early…"
Zuko scratched his cheek, embarrassed. "Alright."
Despite the emotional heaviness, the atmosphere overall was warm.
Soon, everyone returned from Worryless Valley to the small town—meaning it was time for another temporary farewell.
Although Azula and Ursa had talked the entire way, it was nowhere near enough to fill the years of separation.
At the moment of parting, Ursa held Azula's hand tightly.
"…Please be careful. Truly. Be very careful."
She understood the danger ahead. All she could do was worry and hope.
"Mm. I know."
Azula's eyes softened, but her posture remained composed. Duty first—sentiment later.
After speaking with Zuko, Kahn summoned Nike, who spread its four flaming wings.
"Let's go," Azula said calmly.
The two climbed onto Nike. As the spirit rose into the sky, Ursa and the others watched them disappear beyond the clouds.
High above the world, Kahn asked with a smile.
"How do you feel now?"
"Excellent!" Azula said openly, her voice bright with confidence. "I can't wait for the Final Day."
The Final Day—when their plan would begin, and one side would fall forever.
Seeing Azula in such a positive, energized state, Kahn felt a surge of excitement as well.
"In that case," he said, "let's speed up. Hold on tight."
Before he finished speaking, Azula shifted.
Her hands slipped from his coattails and wrapped around his waist. Her body pressed lightly against his back.
Kahn stiffened.
Uh…
"Alright. Speed up," Azula said, tone completely normal.
…Fine. Whatever.
"Nike!"
With a sharp cry, Nike accelerated, turning into a crimson streak across the sky.
Behind Kahn, Azula's face flushed slightly—her lips curling into a cunning little smile, as though a plan she had been waiting on had finally succeeded.
