Nolan and Sylvia sat side by side at the edge of the lake. Sylvia curled up, resting her chin on her knees.
"So, what do you want to tell me?" Nolan asked calmly.
Sylvia let out a small sigh. She lifted her head, gazed at the night sky, and said, "Before I start… please don't laugh, okay?"
Nolan nodded. "Of course. Just tell me. I'll listen."
Those words eased Sylvia's worries a little. She pursed her lips and then began to speak.
