Chapter 65 - Murky Waters

"That little piece of shit!

He should've shot me first!"

Maverick cried out, clutching onto his head in emotional agony. His face was red in turmoil, tears pouring into the sealed concrete floor. They were in a morgue, however this one was quite clean, presumably untouched even, giving a weird hint of normalcy and oddity when every other room in this diabolical area is in such morbid conditions.

The sight of Maverick made Satoya feel even more guilty, but why should he feel guilty? He had only found them a couple minutes ago thanks to how loudly Maverick was mourning. When he had arrived to investigate, Yurina was already standing before him.

However one odd thing he found was, she seemed rather imposing, or domineering, standing over him like someone of superior status. Although he is well aware of them being both researchers under Roland, or at least, with the added news of Loretta's unfortunate death, to be the last two remaining researchers under Roland.

Even before he could vaguely hear Yurina saying to Maverick, "Roland has many tricks up his sleeve, it was all his plan.. He shot Loretta in his own twisted way."

She then heard Satoya walk in, and proceeded to hurry herself over to him.

"I lost you in whatever trap that was, are you alright?"

"I'm fine, Loretta's gone though, I heard."

"After we lost each other, I encountered Roland with him and Loretta, and as I tried to fire the gun at Roland, he disarmed and snatched the gun from me and shot Loretta." Yurina said with a rather odd tone change compared to how she was speaking to Maverick just before.

The claim itself sounded quite unusual to Satoya, although he himself admittedly wasn't the best at telling whether or not someone's telling the truth or not. From all the encounters he had with Roland, Roland was never the type of person to strike at a person, or do any physical feat, of course Satoya has only been here for who knows how long, meaning he doesn't know Roland as much as the likes of Yurina. Despite all this, he had some doubts, which made himself even more surprised on what he is doing at this moment. Then, in a 'thoughtless' reply, Satoya asked her a question.

"Would Roland do that?"

Yurina instantly reacted to the question, she appeared to break into a cold sweat,

"Roland cannot die, you know that more than anyone, so why would he choose to disarm you to shoot someone else?"

"To torment Maverick."

"From the times he has spoken to me, he never mentioned any interest in him."

The moment Satoya said that, Yurina lowered her head, veiling her expression in her auburn hair. She balled her hands into fists, gripping her fingers so hard it caused her fingernails to pierce her palm and bleed, then she turned away from him, and began to walk to the exit of the room.

As Yurina walked out of the morgue, the light gave her a rather ominous shadow, and then she turned her head slightly back at him, she then gave him a glance of disdain.

Yurina then gave Satoya one final message, with a tone and voice he had never heard.

"You do not want to trust me anymore? So be it, Truth Seeker."

She walked out in a fit.

5 Minutes have gone past.

Yurina was standing in what seemed to be the outside. Or more so speaking from truth, this was merely a rather small garden. This garden was not a garden at all, instead a small patch of wet mud and grass, with some taller plants around. The wet mud can be obviously attributed to the lack of a ceiling, as the dark clouds above pours down upon the garden like tears of sorrow.

Yurina herself was standing before a line of makeshift graves, created out of broken pieces of a table, carved with names out of a stone.

One grave was engraved:

Cylee

Age: ???

Killed from [messily carved beyond recognition]

Another grave had:

Ray & Abel

Age: 20 & 19

Killed by Ray using the gun to end his and Abel's suffering.

There was also, lastly, a single grave with the name Suya carved into it. Atleast, thats what is decipherable…

Yurina was clutching onto a sharp piece of stone, presumably used to vandalize the graves by carving scratch marks over the names in order to hide who the grave was intended for. She was looking at the grave of Suya, with eyes lacking any ounce of life at this point, the rain water dripping down from her hair while soaking her lab coat. She then tossed the sharp piece of stone to the side, discarding it like trash. That same piece of stone caused ripples in the puddle it was thrown in while splashing murky water onto her clothes.

Then, 2 crimson puddles formed behind her. Those crimson puddles began to rise up before coagulating into a humanoid form. One of which was resembling the traditional Okamuran samurai armor, wielding a fully sanguine spear. The other coagulated into what resembled the Huangfun Khitan armor, wielding a sanguine dao that dripped red.

At last, Yurina heard the sound of footsteps approaching behind her, primarily due to the steps causing small splashing sounds.

She turned toward the approaching individual, and as she had expected, it was Roland, who had a solemn look on his face, sparking an irritation in her.

"The Sanguine Light had enough.. Unfortunately." Roland said, clearing that solemn expression and replacing it with a soft smile.

"You didn't have to tell me, those Sanguinists already made me assume so. but, I thought it gave up on providing you security."

"It did, it only became interesting recently, however it refuses to provide me any more Sanguinists." He said, looking at the ripples of the puddles.

"Tell me.. Is the blood of a Truth Seeker one of the requirements to—" Yurina was interrupted before she could finish her sentence as Roland held his hand up slowly.

"I've seen the documents you had written, trying to use Satoya as a means of helping you bring Suya back… All that I said about the blood of Truth Seekers being special.. Was simply a lie."

Yurina's eyes widened as she felt something in her soul drop low. Before she could ask another question by impulse, Roland turned his back on her.

"The ichorblight, for example, was created simply using my own blood."

Roland began to leave, exiting out of the garden while the two Sanguinists began to calmly close in on her with calm, yet so inhuman pace.

Yurina backed off a single step, however that was the only action she had done, before she made an uneasy smile, saying one thing. "Suya.."
