Veer finally opened his amber eyes. He looked at Kaya standing in the doorway, but he didn't sit up. He didn't even move. He just smiled, a lazy, incredibly handsome, and completely shameless smirk.
"Welcome home, wife," Veer purred smoothly, stretching his long legs out over the velvet cushions. He patted the small sliver of empty space near his waist. "Come. Sit. The human servants are highly inefficient, but the silk they weave is quite soft."
Kaya walked over, but she didn't sit. She crossed her arms, looking down at him.
"You look entirely too comfortable for someone who has a midterm paper due at Astor College in three hours," Kaya stated, tapping her foot against the expensive rug.
Veer let out a dramatic groan, throwing one arm over his eyes as if the mere mention of the word 'college' was causing him physical agony.
