"No," Kaya ordered sharply, slapping the medic's hands away as he rushed forward with bandages. "I'm fine. It's a through-and-through."
"Boss, we need to extract immediately and get you to a hospital," Graves argued. "Do you want me to send a strike team back down into the anomaly to secure the Syndicate's lab? They might have intelligence on—"
"I said no," Kaya interrupted, her voice dropping into a freezing, absolute register that left no room for debate.
She gritted her teeth, ignoring the agonizing pain in her ribs, and pushed herself to her feet. With Veer hovering protectively behind her, Kaya walked to the open side door of the chopper. The wind and rain whipped her dark hair violently around her pale face.
She looked down at the dark, sprawling landmass below.
