"They were the ones who attempted to kill me."
"They abandoned me inside the dungeon after making certain I could not escape."
"They left me there to die."
Silence.
The words echoed through the interrogation room like a thunderclap, crushing every sound that followed. Behind the one-way observation glass, stunned murmurs immediately erupted.
"What did he just say?"
"Did I hear that correctly?"
"He is accusing his own party?"
"That does not make any sense."
"But... what if he is telling the truth?"
The investigators exchanged uneasy glances. Even the technicians monitoring the recording equipment looked at one another in disbelief.
Inside the room, Daniel sat frozen, his eyes wide as he stared at the man seated across the table. Even Miranda, who had remained calm since the interrogation began, could not completely hide the flicker of surprise that crossed her face. It lasted for only a moment before years of experience allowed her to regain control.
