While the commentators were just excited that they were only one additional formation lap from finally watching a race after a long wait, Gasly was currently feeling very excited. He had been rewarded with an opportunity to already start one position closer to the podium, thanks to Perez now being relegated to starting from the pit lane.
Now, all that was needed from him was to have a perfect start and for one of the three at the front to make a mistake, and he would be in contention for a podium.
This new thought resulted in him nearly forgetting the matter that had been eating at his focus, moving it to the back of his mind by the time he entered back into his grid position after a few final burnouts.
