"It might be prudent to dispense your funds sparingly."
Gene gave it some thought—exactly half a minute—before speaking up.
"I think it's fine. I have plenty and not much use for it. If I do end up in a pinch, I'm sure you'll bail me out."
"You'd need to be able to pay my fees for me to extend my abilities, don't you think?"
"So, the moment money runs out, you'd run out?"
"No, no, not in those words. Don't be crass."
Gene smirked contemptuously. "Bankers and lawyers…"
