Adina stood before the mirror for several moments, staring at her reflection. Her eyes were no longer completely black.
There was still darkness lingering around her pupils, but under it, something else had returned.
She reached under her clothes and touched the pendant resting against her chest. She quickly tucked it deeper under her dress.
No one could know. If Khaos discovered that the pendant was helping her, he would take it away.
And she couldn't afford that.
Adina took one final breath before stepping out of her chamber. For the first time since arriving here, she wasn't walking aimlessly.
She looked around, studying the guards positioned at each corridor and corner. The paths leading toward the underground chambers. The number of soldiers moving in and out of the compound. The entrances and exits.
She tried to absorb every piece of information that could be useful. She had to give Thorne something useful tomorrow.
Every piece of information could become useful.
