After putting on all my equipment and getting ready to enter a new spirit world, I called out to the Underworld Goddess. After a second she appeared in a puff of black smoke. "Yes, dear," she said in a sweet, motherly voice, though she still had a cold, doll-like face. "I can feel that the person wanting to awaken the sacred beast will soon make their move, and I need to gather the ingredients for the ritual to revive the vampires and gather some more spirit cores so I will be going to a spirit world but only one of my decks might be able to resist the power of the sacred beast so I might need the help of the wicked gods. Would you allow me to wield their power during that duel by making their cards here in the human world?" I asked.
"Absolutely, dear. They have all been waiting for your call so they will be ready when you get back. Just be careful in that world, ok?" she said, putting her hand on my shoulder before returning to her room in a puff of smoke. After she left, I finished packing food and supplies and pulled out the field spell Realm of Danger! I poured my energy into the card and was drawn into it.
After a second I appeared on the coast of the island. Looking down the beach, I saw the body of a Nessie. As I walked over to it, I saw that the reason it was dead was burn marks from a lightning bolt across its body. With a swing of the axe of despair, I cut open its chest and reached inside and pulled out a large dark element core and harvested some of its blood, which was one of the ingredients needed for the ritual and after I did, its body dissolved into gold dust and flew into one of my pockets. With the task done, I made my way into the forest of the island.
A hour later …
After a while of walking I have harvested some magical ingredients and collected some cores of small monsters for artifacts in the future. I finally sensed the presence of an intelligent monster so I decided to look for it.
After looking around for a while, I came across a field, a small clearing in the forest and there in the center of it was a small group of jackalopes, lime green rabbits with large horns. Taking to the sky with my wings, I charged up a fireball and launched it directly into the middle of the group, causing a massive explosion. With a swift flap of my wings, I launched myself down to where the group was. Landing in the spot where the fireball exploded, I saw the bodies of three of the jackalopes. One was blown in half, one was missing its head and the upper half of its body was charred and the last was blown away with the least amount of wounds but it died of a broken neck as it had smacked into a large rock.
After harvesting their cores and collecting their horns for medicine that was in the book of life and waiting for them to turn to gold dust, I then continued to explore the rest of the island. As I explored over the next few hours, I killed a couple of Tsuchinoko. While I felt a little bad for them, I needed their scales and cores. I made sure not to attack the females that were trying to defend their eggs. As I continued, I came across something strange: trees that were frozen solid. As far as I knew about the danger archetype, there was no monster that was water- or ice-based, so something was wrong.
A hour later …
After exploring for an hour I found a small cave and I decided to set up camp. Luckily there was no sign of any other monster living here. After a while I set up a few defensive spells and went to sleep for the night.
A few hours later…
Waking up, I made breakfast and broke down my camp and started to head deeper into the island. As I traveled, I found evidence of the thunderbird; the first was a couple of feathers and some burn marks from where it flew through here. Following the trail I came across more feathers every few miles. Eventually I arrived at a large tree and up in the thicker branches was a large nest and I could see the tail feathers of the bird sticking out asleep from a night of hunting. Now is the perfect time to strike.
Taking out the flashing fire spell card I summoned the gun from it and using some wind magic, I used it to make my flight silent alongside an illusion spell to turn myself invisible. After a second, I was flying above the nest and aimed the gun. My aim, I lined it up with the thunderbird's head and charged the gun with fire magic and with a thunderous BOOM! The head of the bird was blown clean off and its nest lost structure and fell apart, causing its body to fall down the tree, smacking into the branches before thudding to the ground.
Flying down, I had saved some of the breast meat to try later along with its core and feathers but after the rest of the body turned to dust, I heard the roar of something large out to the east along with a sudden chill as snow began to fall, which should not be possible here; this island is tropical and should be below sea level. I need to go and investigate before this island and the rest of this world are turned into a frozen hellscape.
