Chapter 590: Delta Episode (5)
~Third POV~
[Hoenn Region, Nighttime, Mossdeep City – Mossdeep Space Center]
Time finally came; the air in Mossdeep City thrummed with a nervous energy that was almost palpable. It was nighttime again, but the city was anything but asleep. Lights blazed from every window, and the streets were choked with people, their anxious murmurs rising into a collective roar.
*SWOOOSH*
Azure descended from the star-speckled sky, not in his airship, but astride the emerald titan itself: Rayquaza. The Sky High Pokémon, a magnificent serpent of green and gold, sliced through the clouds, its scales gleaming faintly under the moonlight. Azure was a minuscule figure on its back, but his arrival was a seismic event.
The crowd gathered at the entrance of the Mossdeep Space Center was immense, a surging tide of humanity desperate for answers, for hope, for a miracle. Their cries were a cacophony of fear and expectation.
Gym Leaders Tate and Liza, their usually serene faces etched with strain, were trying their best to calm the throng, but their efforts were like pebbles trying to stem a tsunami. Azure dismounted, his boots touching the tarmac with a soft thump.
*Thump*
Rayquaza, sensing the turmoil, let out a single, resounding roar, "SKYYYAAAARRRGH!"
The sound, ancient and powerful, ripped through the night, echoing through the city and out over the ocean. It wasn't an aggressive roar, but a clear, undeniable assertion of presence, of power.
The outraged, terrified crowd, as if struck by an invisible hammer, fell silent. The babble died, replaced by a stunned, reverent hush.
Only the distant murmur of the waves remained.
Azure nodded approvingly at his partner, then turned to Tate and Liza. He greeted them in a polite tone, his voice calm despite the monumental task ahead, "Gym Leaders. Thank you for holding the line."
Tate, the younger twin, managed a small, hopeful smile and exclaimed, "Azure... we're counting on you."
Liza, his sister, added, "Steven is waiting inside. He has something for you."
Azure's team followed closely behind him. Mewtwo, its psychic energy a barely contained aura, floated regally beside him. Deoxys, Organism No. 1 and No. 2, sleek and alien, hovered with silent grace.
Rotom and Porygon-Z, usually outside their Poké Balls, were currently residing in Azure's Arc Phone, ready for their spatial roles. The rest of his Pokémon couldn't survive the harsh vacuum of space, a pang of regret in his heart, but he felt a surge of confidence with the formidable allies he had chosen.
They moved through the silent, parting crowd, a path opening as if by an unseen force. Inside the Space Center, the hum of machinery was a counterpoint to the hushed reverence of the staff.
Steven Stone, impeccably dressed even in this dire hour, with his signature smirk now a determined line, stood by a gleaming metal suitcase. Steven said, his voice crisp, "Azure, you've made it. The suit is ready. We've optimized it for extreme conditions and integrated your Pokémon's tech."
He pushed the suitcase towards him. Azure took the case, its surface cool under his gloved fingers as he replied, "Thank you, Steven. And to everyone who worked on this."
He wasted no time, stripping down with efficient movements, his other Pokémon forming a protective, discreet circle around him. The spacesuit was a marvel of engineering: sleek, silver with dark blue accents, and surprisingly flexible.
*Hisss*
As he donned it, a soft hiss confirmed the seals were engaging automatically. Rotom, from the Arc Phone on his belt, zipped out and phased directly into the suit's forearm console, its holographic eye glowing.
Porygon-Z, as if on cue, dissolved into data and integrated into the suit's other systems, ready to assist Rotom as they chimed, "Systems calibrating! Environmental controls, life support, communications – all green!"
Steven approached, his gaze serious as he stated, "Azure, listen closely. Your primary objective: get Rayquaza to Mega Evolve. Once it does, use Dragon Ascent. The suit's core, powered by a modified matrix, will automatically teleport you and Rayquaza back to the planet's atmosphere the moment the attack connects. It's designed to bring you back within seconds, minimizing your exposure."
His eyes met Azure's as he added seriously, "Do not worry about the return journey. Just focus on stopping that meteor."
Azure replied, his voice slightly muffled by the suit's internal comms, "Understood. We'll get it done."
He thought, a silent promise to his partners left behind, 'Pikachu, Eevee, Mew... I'll come back to you.'
With the suit fully sealed, Azure exited the Space Center, the glare of media spotlights momentarily blinding him. The crowd outside erupted once more, but this time, it was a roar of desperate hope. Every phone, every camera, was pointed at him. He was a symbol now, not just a trainer.
Rayquaza descended, its mighty form an anchor in the chaotic night. Azure moved with practiced ease, mounting the serpentine back. Mewtwo took its place to his left, floating effortlessly, and the two Deoxys positioned themselves to his right. He looked down at the faces below – Tate and Liza, their hands clasped together, hope shining in their eyes. Steven was already turning to his own communicators.
Tate and Liza yelled, their voices piercing through the din, "Good luck, Azure! Bring us home!"
Steven, already on his comm, spoke urgently, "Champions! Contact your teams! Prepare for impact! Begin defensive maneuvers on all fronts!"
His voice was resolute, echoing across the global network even as Azure heard it continuing to issue commands, "I'll contact the other regions! We need every single attack focused on these fragments!"
*SWOOOOSH*
With a powerful surge, Rayquaza launched itself skyward, a green arrow piercing the night. Mewtwo, No. 1, and No. 2 followed, a dazzling display of power and grace. The concrete below them cracked slightly from the sheer force of Rayquaza's ascent.
The cities of Hoenn, then the entire planet, began to shrink below them, a vibrant, living marble fading into the vast, indifferent ocean of space. The air thinned, the sky darkened, and the stars, once distant pinpricks, exploded into a glittering tapestry around them.

[Outer Space]
The void of outer space was both terrifying and breathtaking. Below, the planet hung like a jewel, a swirl of blue and white, impossibly fragile. Above, or rather, ahead, hung the Grand Meteor Delta.
It was gargantuan, a monstrous, scarred chunk of rock, easily visible with the naked eye even from this distance. Its trajectory was unmistakable, a direct line aimed at the heart of their world.
Azure's breath hitched, despite the regulated air within his suit. The sheer scale of it was almost paralyzing. But there was no time for fear.
Rotom buzzed through the spacesuit, chiming, "Azure, current velocity: warp speed! Meteor's mass is—WHOA! That thing is HUGE, Azure! Way bigger than the initial estimates!"
Azure thought, his voice calm through the comms, "I can see that, Rotom. Alright, team! Full power! Rayquaza, let's show them what we're made of!"
*FLASH*
Rayquaza let out a guttural roar, its body shimmering with an intense, emerald light. The power radiating from it was immense, palpable even through the vacuum of space. The air around it, if there were any, would have been scorching. Energy coalesced, surging through its serpentine form.
Azure felt the familiar, thrilling tremor as Rayquaza's DNA responded to his Omni Ring, a brilliant, almost blinding light engulfing them. When it faded, a new form emerged: Mega Rayquaza. Its body was now even more streamlined, adorned with flowing, ribbon-like tendrils of pure energy, and its power was magnified a hundredfold.
Rotom shrieked, a mix of awe and frantic efficiency, "MEGA EVOLUTION COMPLETE! Power output: off the charts! Prepare for Dragon Ascent!"
Azure commanded, his voice ringing with authority, "Mega Rayquaza! Dragon Ascent, full power! Straight through that rock!"
Mega Rayquaza roared, a sound that vibrated through Azure's suit, and accelerated with impossible speed, a living projectile aimed directly at the heart of the meteor. Next to them, Mewtwo's eyes glowed with fierce intensity.
*FLASH*
It, too, began to glow, shifting its form into Mega Mewtwo Y. Its head elongated, its tail grew, and its raw psychic power intensified. Mega Mewtwo Y gathered an enormous sphere of shimmering psychic energy, a miniature sun of pure thought.
Azure mentally instructed, 'Strong Style Psystrike!'
*Kssshhhhh*
Mewtwo unleashed the attack, a concentrated beam of destructive force that tore through space, hot on Mega Rayquaza's heels!
*ZZZZZZT*
Deoxys No. 1 and No. 2, twin alien powerhouses, pulsed with their own vibrant energies. Their crystalline bodies glowed crimson and blue as they joined forces. Azure ordered, 'No. 1, No. 2! Combined Strong Style Psycho Boost!'
*PEW*
The two Deoxys synchronized their attacks, creating a swirling vortex of potent psychic energy that launched forward, a twin spiral of power that slammed into the meteor just moments after Mega Rayquaza's initial impact.
*WHOOOSHHH*
*CRACK*
*BOOOOOM*
The Grand Meteor Delta, an object meant to annihilate worlds, groaned. A spiderweb of glowing cracks spread across its surface as Mega Rayquaza, a green-and-gold spear, plunged into its heart.
The Psystrike and Psycho Boosts followed, amplifying the destruction. The meteor, unable to withstand such concentrated, legendary power, began to visibly shatter. Immense chunks broke off, spiraling into nothingness.
Rotom exclaimed, its voice laced with relief, "YES! AZURE! IT'S WORKING!"
Through the spacesuit communicator, Steven's voice, distorted but clear, crackled with unbridled elation, "Azure! We're seeing mass decrease! The meteor is shattering! It's working! Everyone, you hear that?! Begin your assault! Target the fragments! Do not let them reach the planet!"
A collective cheer, faint but discernible, reached Azure's ears through the comms – the sound of an entire world breathing a collective sigh of relief. Below, a flurry of lights erupted across Earth's surface as Champions and their teams, following Steven's command, launched their own united attacks, targeting the smaller, falling debris.
Azure, alongside Mega Mewtwo Y, No. 1, and No. 2, began to help collect the larger, more dangerous fragments, using their psychic powers to push them further into space or break them into harmless dust. Rayquaza, majestic even amidst the chaos, continued to devour the smaller meteorites, its powerful jaws crunching through rock as if they were energy snacks…
*SHIVER*
Then, a cold dread snaked its way up Azure's spine. He paused, his eyes sweeping the chaotic, starlit expanse. Something was wrong. The feeling was too familiar, a premonition he'd learned to trust.
Azure cut in, his voice urgent, informing Steven, "Steven, it's not over yet. I'm getting a bad feeling."
Steven's voice, full of relief moments ago, paused and asked, "Not over? What do you mean, Azure? Our projections show—"
His voice cut off as he saw what Azure was seeing, his image appearing on Azure's internal camera feed from the suit's external lens. From behind the shattered remnants of the Grand Meteor Delta, a new anomaly emerged.
A geometric pyramid, shimmering with an impossible, almost blinding silvery-white light, uncloaked itself. It spun, then unfolded, revealing a familiar yet terrifying form: a Shiny Deoxys. Its crystalline body pulsed with an eerie, unstable energy.
Azure's own Deoxys (No. 1) cried out, its voice a mental scream directly into Azure's mind, 'DEOXYS! It's going to attack! It's overloaded with infinite energy!'
Azure cursed mentally, a torrent of expletives he couldn't vocalize through the comms as he thought, 'Of course. Why can't it be this easy…'
Steven's initial plan from the other timeline/dimension, the one before the meteor was discovered, involved using a dimensional shifter to teleport the meteor away. In another universe, that plan might have worked, perhaps accidentally shunting a Deoxys or other entities along with it, or exposing one to a deluge of infinite energy.
This Shiny Deoxys, overcharged and unstable, was a byproduct of a calamitous alternate future, now here. It couldn't communicate normally; its mind was a chaotic storm of raw power infused with infinite energy.
Azure managed, his voice strained, "Steven, it's a Deoxys that came out. A Shiny one. It's coming from—"
*SHIII*
But the Shiny Deoxys didn't wait for their response. Its pyramid form re-activated, an invisible force field now pushing the remaining meteorite fragments directly towards Earth, as if weaponizing them.
Azure snarled, realizing the Shiny Deoxys' plans, barked orders in a pissed tone, "Damn it! It's trying to finish the job! Team! New orders! Mewtwo, No. 1, No. 2! Focus on those fragments! Don't let one reach the planet! Mega Rayquaza, you're with me! We're taking on that Shiny Deoxys!"
*Swooosh*
The other three Legendary and Mythical Pokémon immediately shifted their focus. Mega Mewtwo Y flared with psychic power, projecting vast Shields to deflect the incoming debris. Deoxys No. 1 and No. 2 unleashed precise Psycho Cuts and Psyshocks, pulverizing any fragments that dared to slip past.
This allowed Mega Rayquaza the precious seconds it needed…
The battle began.
*WHOOSH*
Mega Rayquaza let out a defiant roar, charging forward. It unleashed a devastating Hyper Beam, a thick, emerald-green energy blast that tore through space. The Shiny Deoxys, however, reacted with impossible speed. It began to rapidly collect the meteor chunks it had been pushing, forming a swirling shield of rock and debris around itself.
*CRUNCH—CRACK*
The Hyper Beam slammed into this impromptu defense, pulverizing the meteor chunks but failing to land a direct hit on Deoxys itself. The Shiny Deoxys shimmered, rapidly changing into its Speed Forme. Its body became slender, almost ethereal, and it darted through space with incredible acceleration.
*ZZZIIIPPP*
It raced after Mega Rayquaza, a silver blur against the blackness. Azure, still mounted on Rayquaza's back, felt the dizzying pull of acceleration. Mega Rayquaza weaved and dodged, its serpentine body a master of aerial (or rather, spatial) agility.
*THUD*
In one sharp maneuver, it evaded a close pass from Deoxys, sending Azure momentarily tumbling onto a nearby derelict satellite. Azure quickly righted himself, clinging to the metallic surface, and asked, "Rotom! Damage report!"
Rotom replied after both it and Porygon-Z checked the suit's systems, "Suit integrity: 100%! Azure, you're good! Rayquaza's okay too!"
The Shiny Deoxys, now changing into its Attack Forme, its crystalline limbs sharpening into deadly blades, ceased its chase. It halted, charging power, and unleashed a torrent of Psycho Boosts.
*FWOOSH*
*FWOOSH*
*FWOOSH*
Powerful psychic energy bolts shot towards Mega Rayquaza. Mega Rayquaza roared, expertly weaving through the barrage, the Psycho Boosts narrowly missing its powerful form and instead tearing through the distant space. One of the stray Psycho Boosts, however, rebounded off a larger debris field, catching the Shiny Deoxys off guard.
*THWACK*
The attack slammed into its side. The Shiny Deoxys flinched, a high-pitched psychic shriek emanating from it, and a visible crack appeared on its crystalline form.
It was hurt.
Enraged, the Shiny Deoxys focused its next attack not on Mega Rayquaza, but on Azure. A concentrated beam of psychic energy lanced out towards him, a clear attempt to eliminate the trainer.
*WHOOSH*
Azure ducked, the beam searing past his helmet, leaving a faint trail of damage. Its body, surprisingly, regenerated the crack almost instantly, a testament to its infinite energy supply and alien biology. Deoxys, changing again, fired a Shadow Ball, a sphere of dark energy…
*SHHHWOOMP*
This time, Mega Rayquaza didn't dodge. Azure had a plan as he commanded, "Endure it, Rayquaza! Now, attack!"
*THUD*
The Shadow Ball slammed into Mega Rayquaza's scaled body. The Legendary Pokémon roared in defiance, shrugging off the attack with surprising resilience, its potent Draconic essence ignoring the Ghost-type damage.
*SWOOOSH*
It surged forward, a green blur heading straight for the Shiny Deoxys. The Shiny Deoxys, seeing Mega Rayquaza's relentless charge, swiftly shifted into its Defense Forme. Its body became bulkier, its crystalline shell thickening, forming an almost impenetrable barrier.
Azure yelled, riding his partner into the fray, "Now, Rayquaza! Full power!"
Mega Rayquaza didn't slow as it roared, "ROOOOAAAAARRR!"
*KRAK-SHUUUUUUNNG*
It slammed directly into the Defense Forme Deoxys. The force of the impact was immense, echoing through the vacuum. Deoxys's protective shell, strengthened by infinite energy, began to crack, then shatter, pieces of crystal flying off into space. The powerful collision sent the Shiny Deoxys reeling, its form flickering with pain, visibly wounded.
The Shiny Deoxys, its infinite energy reserves temporarily disrupted, tried to use Recover, its body pulsing with a faint healing light. But it was too late. From the periphery, a combined psychic assault struck.
*ZZZINNNGG*
*ZZZIINNG*
*ZZZIINNNGG*
Mega Mewtwo Y, with No. 1 and No. 2, had finished clearing the last of the immediate meteor fragments. They now focused their combined psychic might, unleashing a torrent of Disables. The attacks struck the Shiny Deoxys, paralyzing its movements, halting its recovery, and holding it immobile in space.
Azure shouted, his voice ringing with triumph, "Perfect! Mega Rayquaza! Aim for its crystal! Strong Style Dragon Energy!"
*FOOOOMPHHHH*
Mega Rayquaza, its eyes burning with fierce determination, charged all its remaining power. A brilliant, green orb of raw Draconic energy formed in its mouth, gathering strength. It launched the attack, a concentrated blast aimed with pinpoint accuracy.
*KRA-SHATTER*
The Dragon Energy slammed into the crystalline core on the Shiny Deoxys's chest, the very heart of its infinite power. The crystal fractured, then exploded in a silent burst of sparkling light.
The Shiny Deoxys, deprived of its power source, went limp, its form flickering erratically before fading into a static, unconscious state, floating lifelessly in the vast darkness of space. Azure, with a triumphant grin, quickly unclipped an Ultra Ball from his belt as he thought, 'It's still a Shiny Pokémon. Gotta capture it!'
He tossed it towards the inert Shiny Deoxys. The ball flew true, engulfed the creature in a beam of red light, and then snapped shut.
*WHOOSH-CLICK*
The Ultra Ball shook once. Twice. Three times…
*BON*
Then, with a definitive click, it signaled success.
Azure caught the Ultra Ball, holding it aloft in the silent tableau of outer space. His team, utterly exhausted but victorious, sagged in relief.
Mega Mewtwo Y reverted to its base form, its aura softening. Deoxys No. 1 and No. 2 pulsed more gently. Mega Rayquaza, its tendrils of energy receding, returned to its majestic, yet less intensely powerful, normal form.
Rotom shrieked, its digital voice overflowing with exuberance, "WHOOOO! AZURE, YOU DID IT! YOU REALLY DID IT!"
Through the comms, Steven's voice, thick with relief, cut through the quiet, "Azure! We saw it! The Deoxys is down! Excellent work! On our end, we managed to handle all the stray fragments that came down on the planet. Minimal damage, thanks to everyone's combined efforts!"
Azure took a moment, gazing at the beautiful, deadly asteroids that still drifted nearby, remnants of the eradicated threat. His team, with renewed vigor, began to collect the larger, intact fragments, saving them in a specialized space bag that Porygon-Z, the master of data and storage, created.
Azure wondered if any of them contained Key Stones, or perhaps they were just tasty snacks for a certain Sky High Pokémon. He looked over to see Rayquaza, already back to its routine, happily gobbling up another glittering chunk of space rock.
With the immediate threat neutralized and the remaining debris safely collected, Azure mounted Rayquaza once more. He said, his voice imbued with a deep sense of accomplishment and weariness, "Time to go home, everyone."
Rayquaza let out a long, satisfied rumble. With a powerful sweep of its body, it turned, and with Mewtwo and the two Deoxys trailing behind, began its descent. The pale blue sphere of Earth grew larger, beckoning them back.
Below, lights twinkled, a silent, joyful welcome from a world that had been pulled back from the brink. Azure was coming home, and he carried with him not just victory, but a new, powerful ally captured from the heart of a cosmic battle.
