Chapter 583: Legendary Egg
~Third POV~
[Sinnoh Region, Next Day, Maximum Prison – Office]
The air in the Sinnoh Region's maximum-security prison hung heavy and stale, a stark contrast to the crisp, often icy winds that swept across Mt. Coronet. Deep within its reinforced concrete walls, Leaf Green, a Kanto Dex Holder, Azure's unwavering girlfriend, and a formidable member of the International Police, sat hunched over a stack of reports. Beside her, his usual trench coat slightly disheveled, sat the equally diligent, if sometimes eccentric, Agent Looker.
Weeks had passed since the climactic confrontation at the Spear Pillar, a battle that had threatened to unravel the very fabric of space and time. Slowly, painstakingly, they had secured every member of Team Galactic.
Scientists, grunts, and even the arrogant Commanders now languished within these cells, stripped of their Pokémon, their technology, and their futile ambitions. The silence in the prison was a testament to their success, broken only by the occasional clink of handcuffs or the distant, muffled clang of a cell door.
Green murmured, her voice a low, weary hum, "Another set of inventories checked."
She pushed a thick binder across the metallic table, the fluorescent lights above glinting off its cover, adding, "Every last piece of stolen equipment accounted for, every communication device confiscated. It's… done."
She leaned back in her chair, a long, drawn-out sigh escaping her lips. The fatigue was etched deep into her posture, the faint shadows under her eyes betraying countless sleepless nights.
Looker, ever the stoic, nodded, his gaze sweeping over the documents. His own movements were precise and methodical, as he used a pen to tick off boxes on a digital tablet and replied, "Indeed, Agent Green. The meticulousness required for dismantling such a widespread criminal enterprise is… considerable. Ensuring no hidden technologies, no rogue agents, no lingering influence. It is a task that tries the patience of even the most dedicated among us."
Green closed her eyes for a moment, picturing the chaos that had reigned just weeks prior. The Spear Pillar had been a maelstrom of legendary power. Cyrus, driven by his insane vision of a new world, had unleashed the devastating might of the Forces of Nature – Tornadus, Thundurus, and Landorus – alongside the nightmare-inducing Darkrai.
But the tide had turned with the arrival of Azure, her brilliant, somewhat reckless, and utterly indispensable boyfriend. His own legendary arsenal – the stoic Regi Trio, the fiery Entei, his own shadowy Darkrai, and the colossal Regigigas – had met Cyrus's challenge head-on.
And then, Cynthia, Sinnoh's Champion, had joined the fray, her graceful yet formidable Enamorus dancing through the chaos, its mystical powers weaving through the clashing forces.
The memory of those sky-shattering roars from video surveillance, the earth-trembling impacts, the sheer, unimaginable energy unleashed, still sent a shiver down Green's spine. They had prevented the worst outcome, stopping Cyrus from summoning Dialga and Palkia, averting a cosmic catastrophe.
But the cost had been visible: the ancient structures of the Spear Pillar, sacred and timeless, had been utterly trashed, reduced to rubble and twisted debris during the legendary confrontations.
Green reiterated, opening her eyes and looking out at the sterile corridor through the reinforced glass, "At least it's over here. The Sinnoh operation, at least. We can finally… breathe."
*Click—Whirrr*
Looker's digital pen finished its final entry as he replied, "Indeed. A momentary reprieve, perhaps."
He stacked the reports neatly, a rare, almost imperceptible tremor of satisfaction in his hands adding, "The whole Team Galactic fiasco, from its shadowy inception to its ignoble end, is now firmly behind bars. A significant victory for the International Police, and for the peace of the Sinnoh Region."
A small, weary smile touched Green's lips. It was a good feeling, the quiet confidence of a mission accomplished. Both agents allowed themselves to relax, if only for a fleeting moment, savoring the tranquility. The heavy weight of responsibility, which had pressed down on them for so long, seemed to lift, leaving a temporary lightness in its wake.
*Bzzzzt—Bzzzzt*
Then, with an abrupt, high-pitched sound, both of their Rotom Phones simultaneously flared to life, vibrating insistently on the metallic table. The sudden noise shattered the fragile peace, sending a jolt through their tired bodies.
Green snatched her phone, flipping it open. On the small screen, the familiar, stern face of their superior officer appeared. Looker, equally swift, answered his own, bringing it to his ear as they listened. The voice crackled, devoid of any pleasantries, "Agent Green, Agent Looker, report in."
"Green here, sir."
"Looker, reporting."
"Excellent. I trust your work in Sinnoh is nearing completion?"
Green exchanged a glance with Looker, reporting, "Yes, sir. All Team Galactic personnel are secured, and their assets are being cataloged for eventual transport. The prison facilities here are sufficient to hold them for the foreseeable future."
The voice from the other end replied, "Good. Very good. Interpol will be dispatching another agent, a specialist in long-term containment, to oversee the remainder of the Sinnoh cleanup. You two, however, are needed elsewhere. Immediately."
Green's eyebrows furrowed. The weariness threatened to resurface as she asked, "Sir? Another mission so soon?"
Their superior answered in a neutral tone, "Time is of the essence, Agents. Intelligence has come in regarding a clandestine organization operating in another region. They call themselves the 'Seven Sages' and early reports suggest they possess a level of sophistication and secrecy that rivals, and perhaps even surpasses, Team Galactic's early days. Their motives and goals are still obscured, but their activities are… deeply concerning."
Looker's face remained impassive, but a flicker of grim determination entered his eyes as he asked, "The Seven Sages, sir?"
The voice at the other end confirmed, "Indeed. You are to proceed to the Unova Region as soon as possible. Your directives will be sent upon your arrival. Begin preliminary investigations, gather intelligence, and assess the scope of their operation. This is a top-priority mission. Understood?"
Green replied, her previous fatigue momentarily forgotten, replaced by a renewed sense of purpose, "Understood, sir."
Looker affirmed, his voice resolute, "Loud and clear, sir."
The voice at the other end concluded calmly, "Good. Interpol agents will meet you at the main airport in Unova for further briefings. Travel arrangements are already being made. Over and out."
*Bzzzzt*
The screen went black, fading as the call disconnected. Both agents let out a synchronized sigh, though this one was laced with resignation rather than relief as Green thought, 'More work. So much for breathing easy.'
Green muttered, rubbing her temples, "Unova, then… Just when I thought I could catch a few Solid Sleep Z's."
Looker carefully placed his Rotom Phone back on the table, saying, "Such is the life of an International Police agent, Agent Green. The world, it seems, never truly runs out of nefarious organizations requiring our… attention."
A thoughtful hum escaped him as he muttered, "Before we depart, however, there is one matter that requires our… consideration."
Green looked up, a questioning gaze in her eyes, "Oh?"
Looker began, ever precise, "Azure Sky. His assistance in the culmination of the Team Galactic defeat was, to put it mildly, invaluable. His strategic prowess, his ability to manage multiple legendary Pokémon, and his sheer courage… a profound contribution. What recompense, if any, have we considered for such a service?"
A slow, knowing smile spread across Green's face, chasing away the weariness. Her eyes twinkled with a hint of mischievous satisfaction as she said casually, "Oh, don't you worry about that, Looker. I've already taken care of it. It's already been sent back to his airship in Kanto."
Looker blinked, a rare expression of surprise crossing his features. He paused, his brow furrowed in concentration, running through the mental inventory of potential rewards as he thought, 'Monetary compensation felt… insufficient for someone like Azure. A medal? Perhaps, but Azure wasn't one for accolades.'
His mind cast back to a peculiar acquisition made during a previous joint mission. Looker said, a flicker of realization igniting his eyes, "Wait a second… Are you referring to… the Blue colored Pokémon Egg? The one we acquired from those dedicated Pokémon Rangers in the Fiore Region?"
Green's smile widened, a soft, warm glow in her expression explaining, "The very same. A beautiful, blue-colored Pokémon egg. It took some convincing and a bit of Interpol paperwork, but the Rangers agreed it needed to go to someone truly capable of looking after it. They specifically wanted a Trainer who understood the unique needs of such a precious life."
Looker nodded slowly, a deep understanding dawning on him as he said, "An excellent choice, Agent Green. Ingenious, even. To whom else would one entrust such a… unique specimen? A Trainer of his caliber, with his… extensive collection of rare Pokémon, would undoubtedly be the most suitable guardian."
He paused, then added, a hint of dry amusement in his tone, "And, undoubtedly, the least likely to misplace it."
Green let out a soft laugh, a genuine sound that lightened the heavy atmosphere. She rose from her chair, stretching her arms above her head, stating, "Exactly. Who else but the best Trainer I know? Alright, Looker. Unova awaits. Let's get these final signatures in and head out."
Looker rose as well, retrieving his trench coat, answering, "Indeed. A new challenge. And a fitting reward for a legend in his own right, it seems."

~Azure's S. POV~
[Kanto Region, Later, Pallet Town – Sky's Airship]
The familiar hum of the airship's engines was a comforting lullaby as I stepped back into my personal sanctuary. After weeks of battling alongside Cynthia, guiding Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum through Sinnoh's challenges, and facing down Cyrus's terrifying legendaries, coming home felt like shedding a heavy cloak.
The scent of fresh clean air from the recent battles still clung faintly to my clothes, but the ship's interior, perpetually clean and organized thanks to my Rotom, offered a welcome balm. I murmured, a genuine smile spreading across my face, "Finally, home. Been a while…."
My active lineup, Infernape, Lucario, Gallade, Togekiss, Kleavor, and Rotom, were already heading towards their individual rest pods, ready for a well-deserved recharge. Their exhaustion was palpable, but so was their pride. We'd pushed our limits and come out on top.
No sooner had I set my bag down than a flurry of excited greetings enveloped me.
*Wooosh*
His electric purr was a comforting vibration. Pikachu, my faithful starter, zipped forward, leaping onto my shoulder and nuzzling against my cheek, his tail wagging like a metronome gone wild, "Pika-Pika! (Took ya a while, partner!)."
Eevee, ever the affectionate one, rubbed against my legs, her soft fur a warm embrace. She looked up at me with wide, adoring eyes, her head tilted slightly, and cried out, "Ee-vee! (I take it you won again?)"
And then, a tiny, playful spark of electricity tickled my hand. Little Pichu (who was secretly Mew, just enjoying a temporary form) zapped me playfully, then bounced around my feet, eager for attention.
I chuckled, gently stroking Pikachu's head and bending down to pet Eevee, "Hey, guys, I missed you too!"
Pichu (Mew), delighted, scampered back up my arm and settled on my other shoulder, looking at me with bright, curious eyes. A ripple in my shadow, and then Marshadow materialized, its ghostly form hovering silently beside me. It gave a soft, almost imperceptible nod, its own unique way of greeting me, before sinking back into the depths of my shadow, a vigilant, unseen guardian.
My heart swelled with warmth. This was my family. These were the bonds that made all the battles, all the risks, worth it.
Just as I was about to head to the kitchen for a much-needed snack, a faint shimmer in the air caught my attention. From my rotating lineup, my Darkrai emerged, its shadowy form materializing silently beside me. It was holding something, carefully cradled in its misty tendrils.
A Pokémon Egg.
My eyes widened. It was a beautiful, luminous blue, with swirling patterns that seemed to shift and shimmer under the airship's lights. It wasn't an egg I recognized from any of my own Pokémon, nor one I'd encountered. And Darkrai, of all my Pokémon, was not typically one for delivering gifts.
As if sensing my confusion, Darkrai extended one tendril, gently pushing a small, folded note towards me. Then, with a silent, graceful bow, it dissolved back into my shadow, its duty fulfilled.
I carefully took the egg, surprised by its smooth, cool shell, and unfolded the note. The handwriting was neat, familiar. Green's.
The note began, in her precise, elegant script…
===
Azure, I hope this finds you well. As a small token of gratitude (and perhaps a bit of well-deserved spoil for saving Sinnoh from certain doom), I've sent this your way. It's an unusual find.
We acquired it during a joint Interpol-Ranger operation in the Fiore Region. Two incredibly dedicated Pokémon Rangers, along with a spirited young girl who was accompanying them, entrusted it to us. They were worried about its safety and specifically asked that it be passed on to a Trainer who could truly appreciate and protect it, someone who understood how to nurture a precious life. They want it to hatch badly.
So, naturally, I thought of you. Consider it a reward for stopping Team Galactic. I know you'll give it a good home. And perhaps, a fascinating new companion.
Stay safe, my love. Unova calls for Looker and me. More details later.
All my love, Green
===
A slow, happy grin spread across my face as I finished reading. Green. Always thinking about me, even when she's knee-deep in official business.
But a Pokémon Egg from Fiore? And the Rangers, wanting it to hatch, convinced it needed a special trainer?
I gently turned the blue egg in my hands, my thumbs caressing its smooth surface. The specific shade of blue, the subtle, luminous glow, the unique design…
My eyes widened further. My mind immediately pieced it together. There was only one Pokémon known for an egg quite like this, especially one that would warrant such secrecy and care from Rangers in Fiore.
No way.
I blinked. This is... a Manaphy Egg.
A legend.
Another legend.
And this time, I hadn't even sought it out.
It had just… arrived.
As a reward.
For doing something I was already going to do.
The sheer absurdity of it made me chuckle. And now, being gifted a legendary Pokémon, effectively handed to me on a silver platter. My growing collection of legendaries was, frankly, getting a little ridiculous.
What was next, Arceus sending me a personal dinner invitation?
… On second thought, that might happen.
Pichu, still perched on my shoulder, suddenly bristled with excitement, "Pichu? Pi-Pichu! (Oh? Who's this!)"
*Flash*
It zapped me lightly again, then, with a flash of brilliant light, it transformed back into its true form: Mew. My legendary psychic-type floated before me, its large, curious eyes fixed on the blue egg in my hands, "Mew!"
It tilted its head, a soft, inquisitive chirp escaping its lips. Mew had always been fascinated by new life, by anything unique or strange. It nudged the egg gently with its nose, its pure, unadulterated curiosity radiating off it.
I smiled, holding the egg out a bit more for Mew to inspect. I teased, my voice soft, "Looks like you might be a big bro soon, buddy. Or, you know, a big sibling, seeing as you're technically genderless and practically immortal."
Mew let out a gleeful squeal, "Mew! Mew-mew!"
It zipped around the egg, a blur of pink energy, radiating pure ecstasy. It was clearly ecstatic for the new member, already imagining the fun it would have with a hatchling. Its playful energy was infectious.
I watched Mew with a fond smile, then looked back at the beautiful blue egg. Green always knew how to surprise me. She knew what I cherished, not just power, but the wonder of Pokémon themselves.
But for now, the future held a tiny, blue, legendary egg.
I said calmly, walking towards the automated incubator unit in my lab section, "Alright, Rotom. Let's get this little one comfortable. And then… I need a long, hot shower and something that isn't a battle ration."
Rotom chirped happily, its digital eyes glowing, "Acknowledged, Azure! Setting incubation sequence for optimal Manaphy development! Bzzzt! Preparing celebratory snack synthesis!"
I carefully placed the Manaphy Egg into the incubator, watching as the soft, blue light illuminated its delicate shell. Mew floated nearby, still chittering happily, occasionally phasing through the incubator to get a closer look.
A Manaphy. Who knew what kind of aquatic adventures awaited us now?
I could almost hear the call of the ocean.
A new chapter had just begun, not with a roar of battle, but with the gentle glow of a blue egg, filled with the promise of new life.
