Chapter 493 - Chapter 493: Fighting Gym Battle (3)

Chapter 493: Fighting Gym Battle (3)

~Third POV~

[Sinnoh Region, Veilstone City – Gym]

Azure exhaled a long, slow breath, "Whew…"

The playfulness was gone.

His eyes narrowed, turning a shade darker as his competitive 'Uncrowned Champion' persona took full control. He looked at the field.

Mega Lucario was breathing heavily, but its eyes were sharp. Thanks to those Iron Defenses, its physical bulk was nearly impenetrable.

Azure said calmly with an unnerving expression, his voice dropping an octave, "Maylene… You wanted to see what I'm capable of. I think it's time I stopped testing your strength and started testing your resolve."

Maylene felt a shiver run down her spine. The air around Azure seemed to vibrate as she defiantly declared, "Bring it on, Azure!"

He looked down at the Poké Ball in his hand, a small, confident grin slowly spreading across his face. He murmured, "Alright, Monferno, it's time for the main event."

With a decisive flick of his wrist, Azure sent out his next Pokémon as he declared, "Monferno, stand by for battle!"

*Pop*

With a flash of white light, the fire-monkey Pokémon appeared. It didn't just stand; it landed in a low crouch, its tail flame erupting into a vibrant, roaring pillar of orange. Around its waist, barely visible, was the [Expert Belt] – an item that would boost the power of its super-effective moves.

Maylene's Mega Lucario, still radiating power, took a ready stance. The Aura around its fists intensified, eager for the next challenger. Maylene questioned, her brow furrowing, "A Monferno? Against a Mega Lucario?"

Azure countered calmly as he replied, "Don't let the evolution stage fool you. He's been itching for a fight like this."

Maylene's eyes narrowed as she commanded, "Lucario, use Bone Rush!"

*SHIIIING*

Mega Lucario manifested a staff of pure light-blue energy, spinning it with dizzying speed before lunging forward. It lunged forward!

Azure barked, "Monferno, Agile Style: Fake Out!"

*WHAP*

Monferno moved with a blur of speed that defied the naked eye. Before Lucario could bring the bone staff down...

*CLAP*

Monferno clapped its hands directly in the Mega Pokémon's face. The shockwave of the clap caused Lucario to flinch, its momentum stalling for a crucial second.

Azure added, "Now, Work Up!"

Monferno let out a guttural roar, its muscles bulging as a red aura surrounded its body, boosting both its physical and special prowess by +1 Stage. Mayelene's eyes narrowed, seeing the buff.

Maylene shouted, "Don't let him set up! Aura Sphere!"

*PEW*

Lucario recovered instantly, pressing its palms together to form a pulsating orb of blue energy. It fired the projectile point-blank.

Azure barked, "Strong Style! Mach Punch!"

Monferno's fist glowed with a blinding white light. Instead of dodging, the monkey leaned into the attack!

*BOOM*

The Mach Punch collided with the Aura Sphere. The resulting explosion sent a cloud of dust and smoke into the air. Through the haze, Monferno emerged harmed but clearly not out of the fight yet.

Maylene yelled, losing her composure for a split second, "Close Combat!"

Mega Lucario blurred. It unleashed a flurry of punches and kicks that sounded like a jackhammer against concrete.

*THUD-THUD-THUD-THUD*

Monferno crossed its arms, taking the brunt of the assault. Its health was dropping rapidly. Lucario's Mega-evolved strength was monstrous, and even with the Work Up boost, the physical gap was widening.

Pearl yelled from the stands, "Monferno is being pushed back! He's taking too much damage from Lucario!"

Platinum whispered, her eyes wide, "He's waiting… waiting for the threshold."

The battle continued, a relentless dance of offense and defense. Monferno tried to keep the pressure with a Strong Style Flame Wheel, its body engulfed in fire as it rolled towards Lucario.

*ROAR-WHOOSH*

Mega Lucario met it head-on with a powerful Bone Rush, staff glowing…

*CLANG*

*CRACK*

Sparks flew as fiery monkey clashed with the aura bone. Monferno was clearly at a disadvantage in raw physical power. Each exchange left Monferno reeling, but it always bounced back, stubbornly refusing to fall.

Maylene watched Azure with a mix of admiration and curiosity as she thought, 'This 'Uncrowned Champion' is holding back. Monferno is fighting valiantly, but it hasn't unleashed its full potential. The tell-tale signs of its Ability, Blaze, hadn't manifested, even as its HP slowly chipped away. What was he waiting for?'

Azure, however, had a plan. He had been nurturing this Monferno, this specific Chimchar, for a long time. Azure had worked with it then, helping to control its latent power, its wild Blaze EX.

The weeks of training with his Arcanine and Ninetales, using Flash Fire to minimize damage and guide its fiery outbursts, had been crucial. This Monferno wasn't just powerful, it was disciplined, waiting for the precise moment to unleash its full, untamed strength.

Azure watched Monferno's movements. The monkey was staggering, its fur singed and its breathing ragged. Lucario followed up with a Power-Up Punch, slamming Monferno into the floor.

*CRACK*

The floor tiles shattered. Monferno lay in the crater, gasping.

Maylene commanded, sensing victory, "Finish this with Metal Claw!"

As Lucario leaped into the air, its claws extending and gleaming with metallic energy, Azure's lips curved into a grin as his voice cut through the arena, "Monferno! Enough holding back! Go all out!!"

Maylene's eyes widened slightly. She'd sensed it, but the explicit command still sent a jolt through her. Mega Lucario, too, seemed to falter for a moment, its instincts screaming at the impending power surge.

Upon hearing Azure's command, Monferno's entire being seemed to ignite. The flames on its tail and head, which had been flickering, suddenly roared to life.

*WHOOSH*

They grew larger, brighter, hotter, licking at the air around them. Its orange fur seemed to ripple with raw, untamed energy. A sound like a jet engine igniting ripped through the gym followed by a primal roar, "MOOOOONFERNOO!!"

*RMBL*

A primal ROAR! tore from Monferno's throat, deep and resonant, shaking the very foundations of the gym. The air shimmered, distorting the light, as pure, unadulterated firepower erupted from within.

*HISSSSS*

Suddenly, the small flame on Monferno's tail didn't just grow—it exploded. A torrential pillar of crimson and gold fire shot toward the ceiling, pushing Mega Lucario back with the sheer force of the heat!

The temperature in the gym rose twenty degrees in a matter of seconds. Maylene shielded her eyes from the glare, "What is this?! That's not a normal Blaze ability!"

Monferno stood up slowly. Its eyes were no longer white; they were glowing bloodshot red-hot, reflecting the primal fire burning within. This was the power Azure had helped it cultivate—the wild, uncontrollable rage of the anime-lineage Chimchar, tempered by the guidance of Azure's Pokémon.

Azure grinned as he commanded, "Strong Style… Mach Punch!"

*ZOOOOOM*

Monferno didn't just run; it became a comet. It tore across the arena, leaving a trail of melted stone in its wake.

*CRASH*

It slammed into Mega Lucario. The impact sounded like two freight trains colliding. Lucario, despite its +2 Defense, was sent skidding across the gym, its metal-hard skin scorched.

Maylene's eyes widened as she barked commands in a panicked tone, "We aren't done! Lucario, use Extreme Speed!"

*WOOOSH*

Lucario vanished, reappearing behind Monferno to deliver a devastating kick. Monferno spun mid-air, using Agile Style: Flame Wheel to cushion the blow and retaliate instantly. The two Pokémon became blurs of blue and orange, clashing in the center of the ring.

*CLANG*

*SMASH*

*WHOOSH*

The speed was so intense that the spectators could only see the sparks where their fists met. Monferno's level was only 35, but the Blaze EX was acting as a force multiplier, bridging the gap between a mid-stage evolution and a Mega-Evolved powerhouse.

But all was according to plan as Azure grinned, seeing a pop-up screen as he thought pleased, 'Finally! This is the right pressure for Monferno to evolve!'

[Monferno gained EXP battling Mega Lucario!]

[Monferno has LEVEL UP!]

Azure shouted, his own heart hammering against his ribs, "It's reaching the boiling point! Monferno, let it all out! EVOLVE!"

As if answering the call of the fire, Monferno's body began to glow with the blue-white light of evolution, but the flames of Blaze EX didn't dissipate—they integrated. The light stretched, growing taller, more muscular.

*KRA-BOOOOM*

The pillar of fire reached its zenith, and with a roar that shook the very foundations of Veilstone City, the light shattered. A deafening roar tore from its throat as its body became completely engulfed in a towering pillar of brilliant, searing fire…

*CRACK*

The ground beneath it vibrated, CRACKING under the intense energy. The air itself seemed to condense and explode outwards.

"KAIZUGUHHHHHHH!"

The pillar of fire stabilized, then began to recede, revealing a new, more imposing form. Taller, more muscular, with golden shoulder pads and a crown of fiery hair, Monferno had evolved…

Standing in the crater was Infernape, radiating a newfound power that dwarfed its previous form. Its eyes, now burning with an intense golden glow, fixed on Mega Lucario. Greater, fiercer, and shrouded in a crown of living hellfire.

Maylene breathed, her voice a mix of awe and a hint of fear, "Infernape!"

Diamond gasped, his half-eaten rice ball falling to the floor, "He did it..."

Maylene was breathless, witnessing Infernape's newfound strength, "In the middle of a Gym Match... he forced an evolution through sheer combat will."

[Ding!]

[Monferno has evolved into Infernape!]

[Infernape learned the Inherent Move Close Combat!]

[Infernape learned Fire Punch!]

Azure pointed a finger forward, his voice cutting through the roar of the flames, "Let's end this! FIRE PUNCH!"

Infernape didn't use the standard Fire Punch. It pulled its fist back, and the flames from its head migrated down its arm, swirling into a concentrated sun around its knuckles.

Maylene screamed, "Lucario! Full power Aura Sphere! Do not let him through!"

Lucario poured every ounce of its remaining Mega-energy into a massive, shimmering orb of blue destruction. It launched the sphere.

*PEW*

Infernape met it head-on.

Infernape roared, slamming its fist into the Aura Sphere, "HAAAA!"

"SKREEEEEEEEEE!"

The sound of the elements grinding against each other was deafening. The fire fought the aura, sparks of orange and blue flying into the stands like shrapnel. For five agonizing seconds, the two attacks were locked in a stalemate…

Then, Azure yelled, "BREAK THROUGH!"

Infernape's fist punched through the center of the Aura Sphere, shattering the energy like glass. The fire-ape didn't stop…

*THUD*

… It lunged forward, the distance closing in a millisecond.

*BOOM*

The Fire Punch connected squarely with Mega Lucario's chest. A massive explosion of smoke and embers filled the arena. The shockwave knocked the spectators' hats off and cracked the remaining windows in the gym.

When the smoke finally began to drift away, the silence was absolute. Mega Lucario was lying on its back, the glow of Mega Evolution fading as it reverted to its base form. Its eyes were swirled. It was unable to battle.

Opposite it, Infernape stood tall for a moment, a trail of smoke rising from its fist. It looked back at Azure, a tired but proud smirk on its face. Then, the golden glow of Blaze EX finally flickered and went out…

*Thud*

Infernape's knees buckled. With a heavy thud, the Fire-type collapsed onto the stone, completely drained of every drop of energy it possessed. The referee statue remained silent for a beat before the voice boomed, "Lucario is unable to battle! Infernape is unable to battle! Since both Trainers have lost their active Pokémon and have others remaining, this round is a Draw!"

Azure ran onto the field, reaching Infernape first. He knelt in the dust, placing a hand on the Pokémon's warm shoulder as he praised him proudly, "You were incredible. You surpassed every expectation I had."

Maylene walked over to her Lucario, recalling it with a gentle click. She looked at Azure, her face flushed from the heat of the battle, a wide, genuine smile on her face. Maylene said, wiping a smudge of soot from her forehead, "I asked for a challenge. But that... that was something else. That Blaze Ability... It's terrifying. And wonderful."

Azure stood up, helping his exhausted Infernape back into its ball as he chuckled, replying casually, "It's a lot to handle. But that's what being a trainer is about, right? Handling the heat."

In the stands, Platinum stood up, clapping softly. Diamond and Pearl joined in, their cheers finally breaking the tension of the gym.

Azure looked up at them, then back at Maylene. The battle wasn't over—they both had two Pokémon left. The Uncrowned Champion had shown his teeth, and the Gym Leader had met him with sheer determination.

Maylene asked, reaching for her next Poké Ball, "Ready to continue?"

Azure adjusted his hat, ready for more as he reached for his next Poke Ball, "Always."

Both returned to their places, hands twitching in anticipation. The air in the gym thrummed with residual energy, a silent testament to the fierce combat that had unfolded. Both trainers stood firm, their expressions grim but resolute, the weight of the nearing conclusion heavy in the air.

Maylene declared, her voice still strong, though a bead of sweat trickled down her temple, "This is it, Azure… My fifth Pokémon!"

She retrieved a Poké Ball, a determined glint in her eyes as she declared, "Let's do this! Go, Infernape!"

*Pop*

With a burst of crimson light, Maylene's own Infernape materialized on the battlefield. Its fiery crown blazed fiercely, and a faint glint around its waist revealed the tell-tale shimmer of an [Expert Belt], promising amplified damage for super-effective moves.

It pounded its chest, a primal roar echoing through the gym, "INNNNN!!!"

Azure, ever the picture of calm, merely smiled as he replied, "Excellent choice, Maylene. But I'm ready."

He lifted his own Poké Ball, a symbol of potential power, as he declared, " You want to see mastery? Then let's show her the result of our training. My fifth Pokémon... Gallade, it's your time to shine!"

*Pop*

In a flash of light, Azure's Gallade appeared. It was a picture of serene power, its knight-like form standing tall. Azure's Gallade stood tall, his green plates shimmering. But as he materialized, something strange happened. Instead of taking a standard fighting stance, Gallade held out his hand.

"VROOOOM—!"

The air around Gallade's palm began to distort. Blue psychic energy swirled and condensed, hardening into a physical form. To the bewilderment of everyone in the stands, the energy solidified into a giant, glowing psychic spoon. It was nearly as tall as Gallade himself, shimmering with an iridescent light.

This was no ordinary utensil; it pulsed with raw psychic energy, its edges surprisingly sharp, its surface reflecting the gym lights like polished steel. The faint glimmer of a [Galladite] Mega Stone embedded in its arm brace hinted at even greater power yet to be unleashed, but for now, the spoon itself was the focus.

Gallade, with a fluid movement, gripped the hilt-like base of the psychic construct, holding it like a seasoned swordsman as it stated, "Gall… (En guard.)"

Maylene's eyes, normally so focused, narrowed slightly at the sight of the peculiar weapon as she thought, 'A giant spoon? I had faced countless trainers and challengers before, but this was a first.'

Azure, noticing her reaction, grinned knowingly. He thought casually, 'That's right, Maylene, this isn't just a spoon.'

He remembered days spent in the secluded depths of a psychic training ground, where he had Mewtwo overseeing the rigorous drills as he thought, 'I taught Gallade, even when he was a young Ralts, to master this technique from Mewtwo himself when he evolved. To channel psychic energy into a tangible weapon, one that could amplify his already formidable powers.'

Maylene's Infernape, sensing the shift in the atmosphere and the undeniable psychic presence, adopted a wary stance. It was a fighter, through and through, and it recognized power when it saw it, even if it came in an unusual form.

Maylene commanded, her voice cutting through the tension, "Infernape! Hyper Beam! Go all out!"

Infernape roared, a guttural sound of pure aggression. Its body shimmered, collecting an immense amount of energy.

*WHOOSH*

*CRACKLE*

A gigantic, concentrated beam of raw, destructive power erupted from its mouth, tearing through the air with an audible ripping sound, headed straight for Gallade. The sheer force of the Hyper Beam pulsed with intensity, threatening to obliterate anything in its path.

The crowd gasped. Platinum, Pearl, and Diamond instinctively flinched, recognizing the devastating power of the move. But Azure remained unperturbed.

A calm, almost casual command left his lips, "Gallade… Full Counter."

Pearl mumbled, his brow furrowed in confusion, "Full Counter? Never heard that move before… What kind of move is that?"

Platinum and Diamond exchanged equally baffled glances. They had never heard of such a command, nor seen it listed in any Pokedex. It was entirely new.

Gallade, however, showed no hesitation. Its eyes, usually sharp and focused, now held an almost bored expression, as if this were merely a routine exercise. Gallade shifted his weight. He didn't dodge. He didn't use Protect...

With a practiced ease that belied the incredible speed and power of the incoming attack, Gallade moved. In one fluid motion, it raised its giant psychic spoon.

The spoon wasn't just a static shield; it glowed with an ethereal white light, pulsating with a dynamic energy. As the Hyper Beam bore down, Gallade executed a lightning-fast, upward slash with its unique weapon.

*ZING*

*CLANG*

The psychic spoon met the monstrous Hyper Beam not with a solid CLANG but with a sound like a taut string vibrating, a distortion in the very air. To the astonishment of everyone watching, the Hyper Beam, instead of colliding or dissipating, bent. It curved, arced, and then, impossibly, reflected.

*VVVVVWOOM*

The colossal Hyper Beam, now moving at an even greater velocity, boomerang-ed back in the direction from which it had come, catching Infernape completely by surprise. Maylene's eyes widened in horror.

She cried, "INFERNAPE! DODGE!"

But it was too late. Infernape, still recovering from unleashing its own attack, had no time to react. The reflected Hyper Beam, its own power turned against itself, engulfed the Fire-type Pokémon in a blinding explosion of energy.

*KABOOOOOM*

Smoke billowed, obscuring Maylene's Infernape from view. When it finally cleared, Infernape lay prone on the ground, swirling stars above its head, completely knocked out by its own attack.

A stunned silence fell over the gym.

Platinum gasped, her voice barely a whisper, "What… what just happened?"

Pearl and Diamond were equally flabbergasted, their faces a mixture of confusion and awe. Maylene stared, her mind racing. She couldn't fathom it as she whispered in disbelief, "It reflected it… It reflected a Hyper Beam?"

Her most powerful attack turned back on itself by… a spoon? She looked at Gallade, who now stood perfectly still, its giant psychic spoon still held with a casual grace, its face still bearing that annoyingly calm, bored expression.

Azure, however, internally grinned as he thought pleased, 'That's right, Maylene. It's the spoon. And it's Gallade.'

He recalled a bitter memory, a past battle against a shadowy figure named Sird, a formidable agent of Team Rocket. She wielded a terrifying weapon, a sword she called 'Instant,' coated in a unique powder that possessed properties akin to both Reflect and Light Screen. By swinging it, Sird could create a shimmering veil, deflecting incoming moves right back at their senders.

Azure thought, a spark of dangerous genius igniting in his mind, 'That's where the inspiration came from.'

He had envisioned Gallade, a master of courtesy and swordsmanship, already capable of predicting a foe's every move. Gallade knew Reflect and Light Screen, moves that established protective barriers. What if those moves weren't just for creating static barriers, but could be imbued into a physical, or rather, psychic, weapon?

He had trained Gallade as a Ralts, with Mewtwo's guidance, to condense its psychic energy, shaping it into the form of a giant spoon – a weapon capable of holding and projecting energy. Then, Gallade had learned to channel Reflect and Light Screen directly into the spoon, turning it into an active, dynamic barrier.

In Gallade's skilled hands, this psychic spoon became a conduit, able to not just block but reflect any incoming attack, regardless of its type or power. Azure mused, a thrill running through him as he thought, 'A master of anticipation, armed with a weapon that could turn an opponent's strength against them. Taught by Mewtwo himself to maximize its potential. It was a recipe for greatness. And I called this technique 'Full Counter.'

Maylene flinched, shaking her head to clear the shock. Her Infernape was undeniably down. She recalled it with a soft click, her gaze unwavering as she looked at Azure. He had truly earned his reputation.

She admitted, a new level of respect entering her voice, "You're full of surprises…"

She took a deep breath, her determination hardening as she declared, "But this battle isn't over yet! My last Pokémon!"

*Pop*

Maylene hurled her final Poké Ball. A powerful, beetle-like Pokémon materialized: Heracross. As it appeared, a [Flame Orb] attached to its horn shimmered, and a faint scarlet glow enveloped its body.

Almost instantly, Heracross winced as the Orb inflicted a burn, but rather than debilitating it, the fire seemed to ignite a fierce resolve. Its horns sharpened, its exoskeleton hardened, a visible surge of power coursing through its veins. Its Gutsability had activated, making its physical attacks incredibly potent despite the burn.

Maylene commanded, "Heracross! Charge in! Get close!"

Maylene understood now of her options available to her. Ranged attacks were utterly futile against Gallade and its bizarre, reflecting spoon. Her only hope was to bypass the reflection and strike directly.

Heracross roared, a guttural challenge, and lumbered forward with surprising speed, its powerful legs churning. Its single, massive horn gleamed menacingly.

Azure, however, remained calm as he ordered, "Gallade, be careful. Protect."

*WHOOSH*

*THUD*

Before Heracross could even close the distance, Gallade shimmered, and a translucent, emerald-green barrier erupted around it. Heracross slammed into the Protect shield with a thunderous THUD, the force of its impact rippling outwards.

The shield held firm, absorbing the blow. Heracross's horn scraped against the disappearing shield, frustrated.

*CRACK*

Maylene cried, "Fury Cutter, Heracross! Don't let up!"

Heracross's momentum carried it slightly past Gallade. It spun around, its powerful arms delivering a rapid-fire series of slashes and jabs with its sharp claws.

Azure, anticipating the close-quarters assault, continued to issue precise commands, "Double Team, Gallade!"

*FWOOSH-FWOOSH-FWOOSH*

Gallade split into multiple afterimages, blurring and weaving around Heracross. The Fighting/Bug-type Pokémon swiped wildly, its Guts-boosted attacks tearing through the illusory copies one after another.

*WHAM*

*WHOOSH*

*THUD*

One by one, the copies vanished as Heracross's attacks connected. The gym echoed with the sounds of impact and disappearing psychic energy. Maylene watched intently. Heracross was powerful and relentless.

It was only a matter of time before it found the real one. Finally, after several furious exchanges, Heracross managed to connect with the real Gallade!

*CRUNCH*

A powerful punch from Heracross's mighty arm landed on Gallade's shoulder. Gallade grunted, momentarily staggered, but held its ground.

Maylene shouted, seeing her opening, "Now, Heracross! Use Megahorn!"

Heracross bellowed, its horn glowing with intense power. It charged, aiming for a devastating blow.

Azure instantly countered, "Sacred Sword!"

Gallade, recovering quickly, its psychic spoon still in hand, met the charge head-on. The giant spoon transformed, elongating and sharpening into a brilliant, ethereal blade of pure psychic energy.

*SWISH*

Gallade, with a single, elegant movement, parried Heracross's Megahorn, redirecting its immense force.

*CLANG*

The clash of two powerful, elemental attacks sent sparks flying. Heracross, caught off balance, stumbled back a step. It was then that it spotted an opportunity. With incredible agility, it launched a quick, focused Power-Up Punch, not at Gallade itself, but at the psychic spoon!

*PUNCH*

The blow was precise and powerful…

*CRACKLE*

The giant psychic spoon, for all its power, was a construct of energy. Under the focused might of Heracross's Guts-boosted attack, it began to splinter...

*SHATTER*

With a final, explosive SHATTER, the giant spoon dissipated into shimmering motes of light, leaving Gallade momentarily disarmed. A triumphant roar erupted from Heracross. It had done it!

It had eliminated that bizarre, reflective threat. Maylene's eyes lit up as she ordered, "Excellent, Heracross! Now, close in! Hammer Arm!"

Heracross charged again, its momentum fueled by its burning resolve and boosted attack. It raised a massive, glowing fist, ready to deliver a crushing blow.

But Azure merely chuckled, a mischievous glint in his eyes, "You assume, Maylene, that a Psychic-type's power is limited to what it can hold."

He simply smiled and issued a single, calm command, "Gallade. Telekinesis."

*FWOOM*

To everyone's utter disbelief, the shimmering motes of light, the remnants of the dissipated spoon, suddenly coalesced. They swirled and reformed, pulled together by an invisible force, until once again, the giant psychic spoon materialized in the air.

*Swooosh*

And with another subtle, unseen pull, it settled back into Gallade's waiting hand as if it had never left. Heracross skidded to a halt, its Hammer Arm poised, its eyes wide with confusion. Maylene's jaw dropped.

Platinum exclaimed, utterly dumbfounded, "That's… that's impossible!"

Pearl and Diamond could only stare. Azure's smile broadened as he explained, "Impossible is merely a word, Platinum. For a master of psychic energy, Telekinesis can grab what was never truly 'broken,' just dispersed."

Gallade, its composure fully restored, now held its re-formed psychic spoon with a renewed sense of purpose. Its previously bored expression had been replaced by a subtle, almost pleased smirk. It seemed, finally, its unique weapon could be used to its full potential in a direct engagement.

Azure commanded, his voice ringing with finality, "Gallade, Aerial Ace! Finish this!"

*WHOOSH*

Gallade moved with blinding speed. Its form blurred, becoming a streaking white line across the battlefield. The psychic spoon, still glowing faintly, was held ready. Heracross, stunned by the spoon's return, barely had time to react. Gallade appeared directly in front of it, moved with the swiftness of an invisible blade, and delivered a precisely aimed, devastating strike.

*SWISH*

*THWACK*

The psychic spoon, imbued with the power of Aerial Ace, connected with Heracross's chest with an audible THWACK! The force of the blow was immense, sending Heracross skidding backward several feet.

The burn from the [Flame Orb] pulsed, but the battle was over. Heracross shuddered, then collapsed onto the gym floor, its eyes spinning in defeat.

*Thud*

The gym's speakers blared, confirming the result, "Heracross is unable to battle! The winner is Gallade! Therefore, the victory goes to the challenger, Azure Sky!"

A collective gasp, followed by a smattering of applause, filled the gym. Platinum, Pearl, and Diamond, still processing the incredible display, slowly rose to their feet, their faces alight with awe.

Gallade stood victorious, its serene expression now entirely pleased. It gave a subtle nod, and then, with a final shimmer, its giant psychic spoon dissipated into glittering motes of light, a temporary construct no longer needed.

Maylene, though defeated, approached Azure with a look of genuine admiration. She said, extending her hand, "Azure Sky, your reputation truly precedes you. You are, without a doubt, an Uncrowned Champion. That 'Full Counter,' that spoon… truly incredible."

She shook his hand firmly as she added, "You've passed my test with flying colors."

She then presented him with a beautifully crafted, gleaming gym badge. Beside it, she handed him a TM as she added, "This is the Cobble Badge, proof of your victory at the Veilstone City Gym. And this is TM60, Drain Punch. May it serve your Pokémon well."

Azure accepted both with a respectful nod and a genuine smile, "Thank you, Maylene. That was an incredible battle."

As he turned to rejoin his friends, the small audience erupted in cheers. Pikachu leaped onto his shoulder, rubbing its cheek against his. Eevee nuzzled his hair.

And even the tiny Pichu (Mew) let out a happy cry, acknowledging the masterful display of an Uncrowned Champion. Unbeknownst to the victorious group, a tiny, almost invisible spy camera, nestled discreetly in the gym's ventilation shaft, had captured every single moment of Azure's astounding battle.

Every impossible deflection, every powerful strike, and especially, the bizarre yet devastating 'Full Counter' technique...

[Sinnoh Region, Meanwhile, Veilstone City – Galactic HQ]

The scene shifted abruptly, diving into the cold, sterile confines of the Team Galactic HQ in Veilstone City. Dim, artificial light hummed, casting long shadows across advanced technology.

Saturn, his sharp features illuminated by the glow of multiple monitors, watched the playback of Azure's battle with an unnervingly calm intensity. His fingers, long and slender, tapped rhythmically on the console.

Saturn mused aloud, his voice devoid of emotion, a stark contrast to Maylene's awe, "So, the Uncrowned Champion lives up to his moniker…"

He rewound the footage, replaying the 'Full Counter' sequence several times, analyzing every frame as he muttered, "A peculiar ability. Reflective barriers, eh? Useful. But not insurmountable."

A subordinate, clad in the distinctive Team Galactic uniform, approached cautiously, "Sir, our surveillance confirms the heiress, Platinum Berlitz, and her bodyguards are making their way to the main boulevard. The Psyduck blockade we arranged has successfully diverted their route as planned."

Saturn's lips curled into a faint, predatory smile as he exclaimed, "Excellent. The stage is set. The Berlitz heir, so focused on her trivial quest, will soon find herself facing true power. The moment Azure steps onto the main boulevard, initiate the blackout. We require a touch of chaos to facilitate our acquisition."

His gaze returned to the monitor, where Azure's triumphant face was now frozen as he uttered darkly, "Let's see how well your 'Full Counter' performs in the dark, Mr. Sky. We have bigger plans than Gym Badges."

The city outside, bustling with evening life, was about to be plunged into a sudden, deliberate darkness, a prelude to Team Galactic's insidious plan. The celebratory cheers inside the gym would soon be replaced by cries of confusion and fear.

The game, for Azure and his companions, was far from over. It had only just begun.
