Speaking of the word 'vampire,' his icy gaze once again fell on Scarlett Yates' chest.
Though Scarlett was wrapped in a coat with the buttons done up, she felt as though Matthew Saxon's gaze could pierce right through her. Under his sharp scrutiny, she felt exposed, as if stripped bare.
She took a deep breath and instinctively tugged at her clothes.
"I'm a bit tired, I'm going to take a shower first." The calm facade she struggled to maintain was about to crumble as Matthew's gaze was too piercing, making her heart tremble with unease.
Having said that, she turned and walked toward the bathroom.
But the gaze behind her still followed like a shadow.
She felt that Matthew must have found something out during the time she was asleep.
She shouldn't feel this guilty or afraid; she hadn't done anything to betray him.
But she had lied to him.
She deceived him, and what Matthew hated most was being deceived.
