Chapter 23 - 16.3

"…Wait—what? What just happened…?"

I muttered, staring down from the balcony.

"It's because this brat took too long," I snapped."The door closed."

"Calm down, calm down," Ray said casually.

"What happened to the quest? The prince wasn't supposed to faint."

The tab—

glitched.

"Ray… what is happening?"

"…Like I'd know," Ray replied.

Before I could say anything else—

Aamon suddenly grabbed me—

and lifted me like I weighed nothing.

—and jumped.

"Wait—Whaaa—?! Brother, what are you doing?!"

"Prince Leo has fainted," he said calmly mid-air. This could be an emergency."

"But you could've gone by yourself!"

"Isn't Aiden your brother too?"

"…Ugh. Fine."

Even while holding me—

he descended smoothly—

landing without a sound.

Aamon didn't stop.

He rushed straight toward Aiden—

still carrying me.

"Brother, you can put me down now."

"No. This is faster."

This brat…

(I couldn't help but complain to Ray.)

"Isn't this easier though?" Ray giggled.

"Look at this."

Ting.

"…Hm? It completed automatically?" I asked.

"Yeah… I think so too."

"Aiden—what happened?"

Aamon's voice cut through our thoughts.

"Wha…?" Aiden looked up, confused.

He didn't understand either.

Aiden began explaining—

about the hooded figure…

the singing…

the eyes…

and then—

the prince collapsing.

As he spoke—

a dull pain started forming in my head.

I really hoped today wouldn't be chaotic…

But…

"That hooded figure—" Ray suddenly interrupted. "You know who that is, right?"

"…Foreign Gods…Specifically—Rael. That guy is already showing up now…"

"…Then the error from before…" Ray muttered, thinking.

"It was likely caused by him."

"…Do you think he noticed your existence?"

"…Probably not."

Aamon finally put me down.

"Ugh—finally," I exhaled.

"You two—stay here," Aamon said. I'll inform the others."
