Chapter 80 - 80. Chains, Curses, and a Princess

Kathy looked at the king curiously. What was he up to? She followed him closely deeper into the secret tunnel and gasped as she came into the light. She took a deep breath and quickly held her breath again. Phillip didn't even notice when she turned visible and disappeared back. His whole attention was on the woman in chains in front of him.

Kathy stared at the woman in chains in shock! Who was she? A criminal? What crime could she possibly have done that had put her in this miserable state? Luckily, Kathy spotted a corner and went to hide there, slowly breathing out.

"Lilith," the king said in a deep, low voice, but Kathy heard him. It was very quiet in there after all.

"Your Majesty, you seem to have made up your mind." The crazy-looking lady smiled. Kathy felt shivers down her spine.

The king didn't reply to her. Rather, he just broke the chains with his spell. Then suddenly he grabbed her by the neck, choking her. Kathy watched in awe when the king raised her up from the ground.

Again, it had affected Dylan. He felt the strange, unpleasant tightness on his throat. He wasn't used to pain. Even if someone managed to make him feel pain, he couldn't feel it because he was so strong. It happened only briefly.

Dylan felt his throat tighten more, and he found out that he wasn't actually breathing well. He touched his neck as he tried his best to stop the pain. His powers seemed useless against this kind of stuff. Rare. In the library there, Dylan was really battling for life. It was as if he was almost gone, when he suddenly felt it release him.

He fell from his chair as he inhaled sharply. He breathed deeply and heavily, trying to take all the air that had been deprived from him all at once. Dylan got up with trembling hands as he tried to take in what had just happened. It was this effect? What the hell could it be? He sat on the chair, breathing heavily.

"Phillip," he whispered. This could ruin his plans. How the hell had his father found a way to cause him to feel pain?

Back in the secret tunnel.....

Phillip watched Lilith coughing and breathing heavily.

"Your... Maj...esty. You won't find him this... way." Her smile was psychotic.

"Then how do I find him?" Phillip asked impatiently.

"To find Dylan, you need to be patient. If you make one mistake and he finds out, it's over." Her voice was very low. Kathy couldn't make out what she was saying, even though it was as silent as the graveyard.

"I need to find him before he causes trouble. Lilith, I need to find him now!" Phillip said, getting angry again.

"So what!" Kathy was shocked when the woman's voice became loud like that. "So you'll keep him locked up forever? What do you want exactly, Your Majesty? You don't want him dead, you don't want to give him freedom, you just want your puppet back, don't you? Are you going to keep him locked up and expect him to remain sane? You're going to relive that day again." Lilith voice was broken even though she spoke with anger and rage.

"That's why he has to stay locked up. He's dangerous. You, of all people, know that. My son is already gone. I can't bring him back. I did everything I could, I tried everything, but he's gone! He was never here. He's suffering, Lilith, but the worst part is he doesn't even know that. Why? Because he can't feel emotions, so he doesn't even know that he is pitiful."

"What does Your Majesty plan to do? Keep locking him up? Not letting him die so you can ease your conscience? You caused this!" Lilith forgot that he was the king. Her emotions were very strong now.

"And I'm trying to fix it. But it's too late. There's no prophecy, no healer, no wisest person on the earth that can cure my son Dylan. He'll have to live like this for the rest of his life, and the worst part of the curse is that he can't die and be relieved of this misery he doesn't know he's living." The tunnel fell silent.

Kathy felt as if all the blood in her body had dried out. She couldn't move, she couldn't breathe. Hearing Dylan's name from the King and all those words along with it was terrifying. What was wrong with him? Why was he pitiful? What curse? Her heart pounded in her chest.

"But the only way is to kill him, Your Majesty, and I won't let that happen. There has to be a way for Dylan to care, a way for him to feel emotions."

"It's impossible! For heaven's sake, he killed his own grandmother and enjoyed it. There's nobody he won't kill to get what he wants." Phillip burst out in anger.

"Except his brothers...."

"That's not enough...."

"I can use the blood bond curse to my advantage. He could fall for me, we're meant to be." Lilith looked at the king eagerly.

"Stop this! Don't start that disgusting obsession of yours. Have you forgotten how many lives were lost? Are you mad?" Phillip looked at her, irritated.

"If I'm given a chance...."

"Lilith, you've lost your chances ages ago. You were given a lot of chances. You failed because you let the power blind you. You just wanted to control him instead of love him and show him the right path. You led Dylan to more destruction. The last person I'll ever let my son be involved with, if by some miracle he gets to experience love too, is YOU." Phillip's words stung like poison in Laura's ears. She looked at the king in hatred.

"And I didn't come here so you could find him. I'm desperate, but not crazy enough to lead you to him and arouse chaos and.... destruction! No way!" Phillip said and scoffed. He changed his mind the girl was still unstable

"Then why has Your Majesty released me?" Lilith asked.

"I have a very important job for you, Lilith. I would have sent my guards, but you'll do just fine. Dylan has a threat far more dangerous than your little curse." Lilith looked at the king with rapt attention, her face looking ready to kill immediately. Phillip smiled in satisfaction.

"It will be hard. I don't think it's easy to kill the only person that can end Dylan. You know everyone would want her alive." Phillip said.

"Her?" Lilith creased her eyebrow in confusion.

"The human princess," Phillip said, and it was like he dropped a bombshell.

Or rather, to Kathy, he had just said the most ridiculous thing she had ever heard in her life.

Sorry it took so very long to publish chapters but it's not easy if I'm not satisfied with a chapter I find it hard to publish it and trust me getting Ideas is easy but writing it in more or at least 1000 words isn't as easy as I imagine i like to think my story is a little sensitive for me so it takes me a long time to think of an idea and put it into writing

Nevertheless I still hope you don't give up on my novel but you could help by leaving review or adding it to your collection that is if you actually like my novel

It would mean a lot

Thanks this author loves you so much 🥰 🥰
