It was impossible for anyone not to feel guilty after damning billions of people to death, but Agiel didn't have a choice! Agiel didn't know those people out there, and she didn't owe them anything. The only people that Agiel owed anything to were her own people, and Agiel knew that they would suffer if she didn't go through with this marriage! Agiel couldn't abandon the people she knew for people that she didn't know!
But at the same time, Agiel knew that the guilt of this choice would weigh on her heart for the rest of her life! There was no way Agiel wouldn't learn about the disaster when it finally came, and the knowledge that she could've done something about it would always be on Agiel's mind!
'I'm already suffering anyway. What difference would a bit more suffering make?'
Agiel took in a few deep breaths, and she felt her resolve strengthen as she made up her mind! Agiel gathered herself once more before leaving the hallway behind to meet the king in the courtyard outside!
