Chapter 1 - Chapter 1-My simple school life is succumbing to rumors!

Romance, love, boyfriends, girlfriends: These talks of love just managed to give me a headache. That was all my friends would talk about. What date they went on or how they were crushing on a cute boy, but I never understood that feeling. What was so exciting about relationships?

I let out a sigh and stared out the window. Either way I couldn't escape these dumb topics. It was only natural for girls my age to want a boyfriend, well everyone except me.

 "What's wrong?"

I turned to my friend, Paige, as she poked at my arm. I brushed her hand off and shook my head.

 "Nothing. I'm just spacing out."

My two friends continued their conversation. Paige listened as Erika spoke about her horrible blind date. Of course I chimed in here and there but, it wasn't something I was super interested in. Erika had dates like everyday. She could never just stay still, but she was still my friend and I loved her.

"Oh," Erika spoke, "have you heard of that new transfer student from abroad? I heard he's real cute."

A new student. A guy at that too. Of course she would be interested. Though, he couldn't be that cute, right?

 "Abroad? From where?" I asked.

 "Taiwan apparently."

 "And where'd you hear this?"

 "Hmm, let's see."

Erika went on about how one student to another and then eventually to her. I guess it was one of the perks of her being popular: You get to know everything. Not that it mattered anyway. Things always came and went, new news coming up everyday. One measly little transfer student wouldn't affect my life at all.

"Have either of you actually even seen him?" I questioned.

The two looked at each other and back at me.

 "Well," Paige spoke, "not exactly."

So they were talking about a boy they hadn't even seen before. This was dumb. But, as long as they are happy, I'll indulge in this dull conversation.

 I smiled and chuckled.

 "You two are so nosy."

"Nosy?! No?" Paige responded, "just well informed." She said jokingly.

The three of us continued on our conversation, eventually forgetting the topic of the transfer student.

I stood up, announcing I was going to go to the bathroom. Usually Paige and Erika would come along with me, but they seemed so engrossed in gossiping they just nodded and left me to my own devices.

Opening the classroom door, there was a girl standing in my way. Her head low and when she noticed me, a quick apologetic nod was all she did. She moved out of my way and back into class to her seat. I glanced back at her. Since when was that girl in this class?

I made my way to the bathroom while also taking some detours. The school wasn't that big so some days I liked to take laps by myself during our break time. The halls were empty as I trailed the lines on the floor. One step, two, three, four. As I came to a stop the sudden explosion of noise caught my attention and the view outside changed from peaceful to a crowd of girls surrounding someone.

"He really is handsome!!" A girl from the crowd yelled.

"Let me see!" Another said as she pushed away a girl in front of her.

Through the riled up field of girls I caught a glimpse of a guy with snow white hair, though I couldn't see much. Assuming this was the transfer student, he had to have looked like a movie star or a model if he had all these girls around him. Now I was curious.

 "Move!" A voice yelled out.

The yelling snapping me out of my thoughts and a jolt of fear took over me as the window that was open suddenly was being leapt over by the transfer student and about to run into me.

"W-wait! Hold on!" Instinctively I closed my eyes and held up my arms trying to protect myself from the impact. Was this really about to happen!? I waited and waited for the pain that was about to await me but only silence came.

"Hah…safe." A deep voice said in front of me.

I slowly opened my eyes to see him in front of me. The infamous transfer student I kept hearing about.

"Are you okay?" He asked, not taking a step back despite his closeness.

His figure was quite tall to the point I had to look upwards to meet his ruby colored eyes. They weren't lying when they said he was handsome either. Though, I still thought they were over exaggerating.

 "Y-yeah." I responded.

"Ah!! He's getting away!" The crowd yelled out.

His head perked up and he let out a huff as if he was tired.

"Wanna save me?" He said with a grin.

 "Huh?"

I felt his hand grab onto my wrist and suddenly I was being dragged around the entire school.

"Wait!" I yelled out in confusion. Just where was he taking me!?

"No can do! Gotta find a place to hide."

He opened a random classroom and I fell into it, hitting the floor. He simply shut the door and the sound of the bustling footsteps faded away.

"Ouch." I said sarcastically as I stood up. "What's your problem?" Seriously, who drags a random girl and throws her onto the floor like that?

"Sorry sorry, what other choice did I have. It was either you get run over by those girls or I bring you with me." He said so carelessly that it ticked me off even more than I already was.

"Ugh, I'm just gonna go. Nice meeting you or whatever." I said about to open the door but once again I felt his hand on my wrist.

"You shouldn't touch a woman without her permission, you know." I said, making sure to emphasize my annoyance.

"Can't you just wait a moment just in case those girls come back?" He said, letting go of me.

"It sounded like they left already, why should I wait?"

"Well, you don't know, they could come back."

I sighed and rolled my eyes. God, why did I have to be stuck here with him?

"Fine, but only for a bit, then I'm leaving."

 "Great." He said, smiling.

I pulled out a chair from the empty desk and sat down.

"What's up with that anyway?" I asked as he paced the room.

 "Don't know." He responded.

"You…don't know?" His answer just seemed so dumb to me. He had to have done something to rile up a crowd like that.

"I'm serious. I mean, I just got here."

I rested my hand on my cheek and got a good look at him. His stupid face annoyed me. Why the hell am I here?

 "What's your name anyway?"

"My name?" He pointed at himself.

 "Yeah you, who else?"

 "Xuan-Yi Ke. What about you?"

I thought for a moment. Why should I tell him my name? It wasn't like I was gonna be friends with him or anything.

 "Not telling."

"Huh? Why not? Is your name weird or something?"

"Tch," I glared at him. Weird? You've gotta be kidding me. "No it's not weird. I just don't feel like telling you."

"Alright, sorry, you've got such an attitude for such a short thing."

"Hah?! Short?" I stood up. "I'm 5 '8, That's tall for a girl like me."

"Yeah whatever." He rolled his eyes.

He was calling me short? What the hell. I mean compared to him I probably was. He seemed to actually be around 6'0ft, but even then, I was taller compared to other girls. In fact, that girl from earlier, I had to look down to see her. This man was just annoying.

I stood up to confront him. I took a step forward, but in doing so, somehow I felt my feet get caught on something.

"Watch out!" I heard him say as he reached out trying to catch me.

God, could this day get any worse? My body flung into his and we fell, tumbling onto the ground.

 "Damn…feisty aren't you?"

The sound of the door slamming open caught my attention. As if the whole world stood still, the people in front of us now were staring at us as if we were a zoo attraction.

"Isn't that Sarena?" A girl whispered.

"The one who rejects every guy who confesses to her?" Another whispered back.

"To think she'd go for the transfer student…"

I was confused by their gossip. Me and Xuan-Yi? Me going for him? What were they talking about? I looked down and saw myself sitting on top of him.

"Shit!" I stood up and in doing so tried to clear up my name.

"No way! You guys are all getting the wrong idea!" I yelled out, flailing my hands in the air. "We just fell down, that's it!"

My eyes looked everywhere and nowhere at the same time, trying to avoid the looks of everyone. More and more people started to surround us. It seemed like the whole school was here and even worse, it seemed like things would only get more out of hand from here. My normal school life…what was going to happen to it?

Xuan-Yi stood up and tried to back me up, but it seems the rumors of us already spread everywhere. My chest felt tight. What the hell. Why wouldn't anyone listen to me? This was so annoying. Why'd I have to get involved with this stupid guy?

I gave up. If no one was going to listen to me, I was just going to walk away.

"Hey? Where are you going?" He asked, his hand reaching out to touch my shoulder, but I slapped his hand away. He seriously had no sense of personal space.

 "Don't touch me!" I screamed.

He stopped and was surprised by my sudden loudness. I could sense he felt bad, his face furrowing.

 "Sorry." He said.

I made my way through the crowd. I just wanted to go back to class. Everyone was so damn nosy. I was pushing away the people surrounding, but as I was about to push away someone, I stopped. It was that girl again. So, she was watching this scene too. I wonder what she thought. Would she think me and Xuan-Yi were dating? She was just in my way today, wasn't she. I gently put my hand on her shoulder unlike the others who I just shoved out of my way.

 "Move." I said to her

Just like earlier, she lowered her head and stepped back. I walked away from the crowd, turning back and saw Xuan-Yi trying to follow my lead except the crowd swallowed him whole. Whatever, it wasn't my problem.
