Chapter : 2 : Trainer Aptitude Exam :
Location : Celadon City Pokemon Centre :
At this moment outside a huge building located at the Central area of the Celadon City a crowd of people can be seen gathered around.
When looked closely one would find that this was a gathering of young people all of them being around the age of 13 to 14 .
Although their faces were different but all of them had been looking at the gate of the building in both excitement and nervousness .
The building in question was non other than the famous Celadon City Pokemon Centre .
It was the largest Pokemon centre in the surrounding area always attracting people and pokemon trainers from nearby regions .
However what made it more special was that more than just being a Centre for Pokemon treatment and a gathering place for various people the Celadon City Pokemon centre had other important works as well .
Among those things the most important would be that the Celadon City Pokemon centre acted as a temporary building for the Trainer Aptitude Exams that are held twice each year .
Yes ! In this Pokemon world the journey to become a Pokemon trainer was not quite as simple as the one shown in the anime .
This is due to the imbalance between the huge number of young people who wanted to become Pokemon trainers each year and a shortage of professors and starter pokemons available .
And since there are only a few capable Pokemon professors and even among them most trainer wants to be under the guidance of the famous professor like professor Samuel Oak .
Disadvantages of being popular I guess !
And obviously even professor Oak cannot handle such a huge task .
Moreover the number of starter pokemons that each professor can give are also limited as starter pokemons are not like wild pokémons and it's simply cannot be given to every beginner .
So the Pokemon league and various individual regional councils together formed an exam called : Trainer Aptitude Exams .
This exam is a division between theoretical and a practical test of which is to determine whether the person is qualified to start as a Pokemon trainer or not.
But wait does that mean that the only way you can become a Pokemon trainer in by passing this test ?
The answer to this question is no there are other ways to become a Pokemon trainer then passing this test .
As long as they have pokemons they can be called a Pokemon trainer .
But they will not be officially recognised as Pokemon trainers eligible for battling in league battles by the Pokemon league .
On the other hand the trainer aptitude exam is a official exam done by the Pokemon league and those Pokemon trainers is exam will be officially recognised by the Pokemon league .
For example if you pass the trainer aptitude exam and you score among the top than you will be given the chance to be under the guidance of the most famous Pokemon researchers like professor Samuel Oak .
And being under a professional Pokemon professor can make a huge amount of difference - as you would get your starter Pokemon and your pokedex from that professor .
Anyone even with a little familiarity with the pokemon series would understand that the importance of the pokedex cannot be overstated.
The pokedex is not only a device to identify various pokemons but it also acted as your identity card provided by the Pokemon league something that not everyone had .
At the same time when it came to the matter of choosing a starter Pokemon of the region there is also another thing to remember .
While all those top candidates from the trainer aptitude test would have the chance of choosing a starter Pokemon from their respective pokemon profecers , however they can actually refuse to do so if they already have a starter Pokemon from the beginning .
In that case that starter pokemon will be given to someone else .
Moreover everyone regardless if they got top marks in the exam or not they would get financial support from the Pokemon league .
Along with that there are some other minor and major advantages that someone who have not passed the trainer aptitude test cannot get .
Then there is also a third way - that is if the Pokemon professor choses someone personally .
Here the trainers do not have to go through the test .
However due to the professors personally recognising their talents they would get under the guidance of that Pokemon professor and will get the other facilities provided like the pokedex and a starter Pokemon .
After David learned of this entire system he truly felt that this world was a lot different from the one he remembered from his previous life.
Although everything was similar like pokemons , Pokemon Trainer's nurse joy , etc .
This world was more structured and formal then the series .
And if you think about it actually make sense because with the limited number of Pokemon professors and starter Pokemon obviously it is not possible for every young trainer to come under the guidance.
So in order to manage such a big thing an exam is understandable .
And today he was going to take that exam so that he can get under the guidance of non other than Professor Samual Oak .
The test was divided into two parts .
The first one was a theoretical exam consisting of a test paper where you would have to answer everything within 2 hours .
But everyone knew that this theoretical test was just a formality .
The real heavy hitter was the second exam the practical exam .
Here each candidate would be given one random Pokemon by the Pokemon league and you will be tested against another candidate and the results of your battle will decide the marks you get .
Obviously you will not get pokemons like Charizard or dragonite .
But instead everyone will get mostly pokemons like caterpie , Bellsprout , etc .
And what you will get will be totally random so it will test your skill to the level .
Just when David was getting a little impatient waiting in the crowd the doors of the Pokemon Centre finally open from where a beautiful nurse Joy along with two chansey came out .
" A very hearty good morning to all of you present here and thank you for waiting patiently so long . "
As soon as nurse Joy started speaking everyone's attention was directly shifted towards her sweet voice .
Even David must say that the show did not justify her beauty .
She was by far one of the most beautiful women he had ever seen even when compared to many famous beauties of his past life .
And that even more true for the officer Jeny of the city as well .
Together they represented two sides of beauty - one with the gentle smile and strong heart of a healer and another with a dominating and strict but honest attitude of a protecter .
Oh ! How many people would love to be with them .
Just to stand by their side .
If only he....
' No ! No...no...no ! Be respectful . '
' Don't let these thoughts in your mind David you have to focus on your journey . '
Quickly he shook his head to clear away any thoughts that was in his minds .
After all right now his sole focus should be on completing the exam and becoming a Pokemon trainer .
And perhaps in the future he will find someone special for himself .
" Alright everyone please follow a line and come with me to your exam hall . "
With that the group of young people obediently formed a line and led by the sweet and kind nurse Joy all of them entered the Pokemon centre .
David was a little surprised when he saw the organised line with no care or someone trying to get pass each other .
This same was suddenly a lot different from what he had experienced in his school day on earth .
' It seems that either the childrens of this world are well obedient . '
' Or a beautiful and kind nurse Joy leading the line instead of a grumpy old teacher is very effective . '
After sometime when they finally reached the large exam venue they saw that the seats had already been arranged with question papers and answer sheets .
Then one by one everyone started sitting down and started looking through the question papers .
One must say be it a school exam , University exam , or an exam to become a Pokemon trainer whenever there was a question paper and an answer sheet in front of you anyone be it a 10 years old or 24 years old person most of them felt an indescribable feeling in their heart .
It doesn't matter if you are prepared for the exam or not that feeling of nervousness is always there .
At least for most of the people .
And David was no different from them .
Even though he had prepared extensively for today's exam when he saw the question paper in front of him he suddenly remembered the last thing he was doing in his previous life .
And that too was preparing for an exam .
' Sigh ! It seems my exams from the past life crossed word's to haunt me again . ' - he thought to himself .
" Everyone you may begin your examination . "
However David did not get the time to lament further on his life as nurse Joy had already started the exam .
So with a deep pain in his heart the finally he gathered the courage to start his exam .
" Alright ! Let's do it . "
