"Have a good day at school, okay? Just text me if you need anything; don't text Lucien–you know how he gets," Theo said with a smile.
I nodded. "Thank you. Are you picking me up?"
"That is the plan."
"Okay, bye," I said.
"I love you, honey," Theo said, and then just like that he drove off.
I blinked slowly.
Oh fuck, suddenly I am really nervous. It's…It's like this weird feeling I can't explain.
I looked around.
I have never been around this many demons before, and truly I'm scared.
I walked towards the school entrance, ignoring the people talking.
I could go 3 more years lying low; I mean, I did it at my old school, I can do it again.
I sighed.
Because no matter where I go, I'll be the odd one out, so I might as well embrace it.
I pushed through the doors.
I mean, know the rough layout of this school, so I am just going to head over to the principal's office and then get my schedule.
"You must be Luicen's son?" I haven't even walked in, bro.
I turned to my left, and there a…demon sat, whom I assumed was the principal.
"Yes, I am."
He gave me this weird look and gestured for me to sit down.
I walked over a couple of steps and sat down. "You look nothing like your dad." Okay, not necessary.
"It's because I'm half demon."
"No…it's…it is that, but it's also your face…it's really pretty."
I felt my nostrils flare.
AREN'T YOU THE PRINCIPAL?
"Anyway. Here is your schedule and a map of the school," He said, and he handed me the schedule. "You are one of our only transfer students this year, so I hope you find everything okay."
After that, he kept yapping about my schedule, everything that transferred over, and what didn't, but his tone was weird…it felt cautious. It's kind of like he is walking on eggshells with me.
I looked down at my schedule, which was very different from the one at my human high school.
1st period: demonology and supernatural history.
2nd: combat and defense training.
3rd: elemental and shadow magic theory.
4th: infernal literature and language.
Lunch break.
5th period: alchemy and potion crafting.
6th period: enchantment and soul studies.
What does any of that shit even mean?
"Uh, I do recommend that you lay low for a while because we haven't had someone like you in a long time, so just try to stay out of trouble, okay?"
Didn't my dad literally buy like four buildings? Why are you treating me like shit?
I nodded.
After getting slightly lost, I finally made it to my first class.
I pushed the door open, and now… everyone is looking at me.
"Hi! You must be our new student." holy fuck, this is so awkward.
I nodded.
"Would you like to introduce yourself?" Literally no, but I take it I don't have a fucking choice.
"My name is Cassidy Veyne," I said.
My eyes scanned the room, and then the whispering started.
"Class, class, settle down, please," she said and then turned her attention back to the teacher. "Cassidy, it's very nice to meet you. You can take a seat in the open one in the back," she said, and I started to make my way over there.
Then I sat down, and the teacher started talking again, but this time I tuned her out.
"Are you Lucien's son?"
I turned to the guy who asked the question.
He was a big-horned demon but looked very sweet.
"Oh, uh yeah."
"That's so cool. Your dad spoke last week; he's really scary."
"I know," I mumbled, laughing.
"Well, I am Jasper, that is Elias, and that's Rhea. Then Elias and Rhea are dating."
"Airing out my business for no reason," Rhea said, giving me this look I couldn't really explain.
Rhea was a girl and a big-horned demon, and Elias was a small-horned demon and a guy.
You know what, hell yeah.
"Are you a human?" Elias blurted out, and Rhea hit him.
"I am half demon, half human, but yes, I am human," I said, and they all nodded.
God, this is awkward as fuck.
"Well, don't let the horns scare you; we are very nice–others, I'm not sure, but you can always hang out with us whenever you'd like!" Elias said, and I nodded.
There was something off about them that I couldn't quite put my finger on. Oh, whatever, it's just me being paranoid.
"Some of the big horns think they are better than you. Don't take it to heart because they think that they are better than everyone; it's just how they roll."
Everyone is just making me regret coming here more and more!
"They are especially going to think so because you are human," Rhea said.
"Uh, okay," I said, and they all nodded.
Then I turned my head to the board.
Okay, a bunch of shit that I don't care about.
So basically, I need to stay away from big horns and everyone, for that matter, just for safe measures.
God, but now I have a target on my back because I am one human, and two, my dad is rolling in it.
I sighed.
I can lie low; I can do this.
Just as quickly as the class started, it was already over.
Afterward, I made my way to my second period, and the teacher was already yelling.
Combat and defense? Dude, when will I ever use that?
I should have paid attention in the class before this, because I would actually know when the fuck I will need to use this.
The teacher wanted us to get into a group to practice 'combat.' Broddie, what the fuck does that even mean?
I looked around at the other people getting in groups.
Great, and now I am alone again.
"Do you not have a partner?" the teacher, who introduced himself as Instructor Sloane, asked as he walked over to me.
Nooooo, I'm fucking standing alone for shits and giggles. "No, I don't."
He looked me up and down and gave me this unreadable look.
"Are you the human?" WHY'D HE SAY IT LIKE THAT? And so loudly at that.
God, I am DONE with this bum-ass school already.
I nodded at him.
"Great, Vincent, get over here," Instructor Sloane said, beckoning a man with massive horns to come closer.
I looked around, and I saw people physically tense at the name.
Uh, should I be worried?
"Yes, instructor?" The man asked.
"Can you be partnered with Cassidy?"
He turned his attention to me. "Of course," the guy said, standing in front of me.
God, he is a big bitch, hello!
"Well, now that you have your partners, you can introduce yourself, and we can start."
"You're the human fuck, right?" I turned my attention to him, and my face turned sour. Why is he smiling like that?
"Yeah, the teacher already said that, dumb ass."
He laughed dryly.
"So…Cassidy…Veyne. The Cassidy Veyne. Lucien's only son. I heard your dad left your mom for a man. That's crazyyyyy," he said, dragging out the y on crazy.
My face dropped.
Is this guy high?
"She actually cheated on him, but close enough."
"But I heard you don't see her a lot, maybe once or twice a year. How was seeing her today?"
Bitch, who is this guy?
"Bad, like always."
"Understandable," he said, reaching out for my face, and I took a step back.
"Your skin is more perfect in person."
My sour look returned, and I looked irritated at him. "You're a freak, dude."
"That's what they call me in the streets, but my real name is Vincent."
"You look like one."
He smirked at me. "Thank you. Shall we start?"
Instructor Sloane started to explain what we were doing, and all I knew was I was about to get my ass handed to me by this 6'5 guy who knows way too much about me.
He turned back to me. "I hope you know I won't go easy on you."
"Couldn't expect anything less from you, freaky-looking guy," I said.
Next thing I knew, a fast fist came burrowing into my shoulder.
Okay, so that's how we are doing this, righttttt.
I have been boxing for way too long not to kick his ass right now, and because of that, his next punch wasn't so lucky for him.
I smiled at him.
I feel like I am poking the beast now fucking with him like this.
I mean, I was just moving around him as every single one of his punches missed me.
Then he smiled at me as he put his hand out.
I stopped and scratched my head.
What is he fucking doing?
"You're immune to magic?" He asked, looking at his hand, then back at me.
"Is that what you were doing?"
He shrugged. "Maybe I'm just weak today," he said, and he put his hand out again, but this time towards someone else in the classroom.
Then, almost like clockwork, I watched the demon fly into the wall right behind them.
Ohhhh, I know that fucking hurt.
He turned back to me. "Guess you're special and you are pretty good at fighting too, even for a human."
And really, the rest of the bullshit classes I had before lunch weren't full of weirdos like Vincent, but were still so incredibly boring that I thought I was gonna die.
"CASSIDY!" I heard a voice boom.
Please be a different Cassidy.
I slowly turned around with my lunch in hand, which didn't look very appetizing.
Oh! It's the people I met in first period.
I walked over to them.
"Come sit with us," the girl whose name I couldn't remember said.
I nodded and sat with them.
"How have your classes been?" I think her name was Rhea; she asked me.
"They were fine, besides whatever the combat shit class was. That was very weird, and there was this freaky-ass guy in that class lol." I just said lol in real life; wrap it up.
"Was he a big horn?" Jasper asked, sounding fed up.
I nodded. "He had huge horns."
I watched as the 3 of them all rolled their eyes. Oh!
"Did you catch his name?"
"Vin something, maybe Vince, maybe Vincent, I don't know, but he was a FREAK," I explained.
"Yep, that's Vincent." Oh god, here comes an unskippable lore moment about this guy.
"He will not leave me alone," Jasper whined.
"Jas has a crush on him!" one of his friends butted in, and my eyes went wide as Jasper's tan face turned red.
I smiled.
That's hilarious.
"I do not!"
"And this guy senses that Jasper doesn't like him, I swear. I mean, they probably would be dating by now if Jas wasn't so big. I heard Vincent likes small horned demons," Rhea said.
"And the guy's not even gay," Elias mumbled, eating stuff off of Rhea's plate.
"Who's not gay?" Maybe he does sense it. Holy fuck, where did he even come from?
"Get out of here, Vincent," Rhea yelled, and he just smiled.
I watched as Vincent's hands rubbed Jasper's shoulders.
Are you sure they aren't already dating?
I looked up at Vincent.
What in the world? Why are his eyes a different color?
They weren't grey anymore; instead, they were reddish, and his smile looked less creepy and more genuine.
"Vincent, go," Jasper said.
"What? I'm just saying hi," He said, turned his head to me, and the smile went back to creepy and the color of his eyes started to fade back to their original. "I met your little friend earlier. He's pretty good at combat for a human."
"Vincent, leave him alone," Jasper mumbled.
"I wasn't doing anything, sweetheart," Vincent said and then whispered something in Jasper's ear.
Are they dating?
Vincent swatted him.
I looked over at Rhea and Elias, who were not reacting and were in their own world.
I looked back at Jasper and Vincent.
"Go; your little friend is here," Jasper said, peeling Vincent's fingers off of him.
"Okay, bye, baby," Vincent said, turning around. "I'm coming, Nate, I'm coming."
Nate.
And just like that, with the sound of the voice, I felt something pulling me.
I swatted behind me, but there was nothing there.
That's weird.
"You have fun with your plaything?"
"Don't call him that."
"I'm just…" Rhea's voice faded out as both Nate and Vincent walked away, and the pulling stopped.
That's weird.
Then I watched as people followed after the two of them.
That's very fucking weird.
After that whole endeavor, my next period class was alchemy and potion crafting, which I shared with uh…Jasper, yeah, that's his name.
As I stepped through the door of the classroom, a very loud voice that was a teacher with these rainbow ass horns filled my ears.
Right, it's gonna be a long hour.
I turned my attention back to the rest of the classroom, and my eyes scanned the room until I saw Jasper…sitting next to someone I wasn't particularly fond of.
Whatever, I will sit on the other side of him.
I sat down next to Jasper, not saying anything as the two of them were talking.
I put my backpack down, took out some paper, and wrote down what the teacher was writing on the board.
It's not that I care; I just need…need…my eyes turned to Vincent and Jasper.
Oh, what the hell? These two are DEFINITELY dating. Why is Vincent's hand resting on Jasper's thigh?
I furrowed my eyebrows at them. "Why don't you tell your friends that you guys are dating?" I mumbled, and Jasper froze up as he ripped Vincent's hand off his thigh.
"We aren't…" his voice faded. "You better not tell them," Jasper mumbled.
My gaydar never lies!!!! Hell yeah. 1/1 right now, baby, let's go.
"My lips are sealed," I said, and I watched as Vincent's hand went back on Jasper's thigh.
Hm, two big horns in a relationship, how does that even work?
My lips will be somewhat sealed; let me ask them questions, though. "How does that work?"
Vincent leaned over so he could see me and smiled. "He takes it up the ass."
Oh!
Jasper sighed and roughly elbowed Vincent in the stomach.
"He thrives off life essences; I mean, we both do because we are big horns, but he INSISTS that being around me gives him that, which I think is all in his head."
"Do you know what else is in my head? You, honey bear."
Jasper rolled his eyes. "I am only dating him because he drives me around and pays for everything I want."
I nodded and smiled.
You know what, good for them; they look cute together…sort of.
I turned back to the teacher, then back to Jasper. "Your boyfriend is VERY creepy."
"I know. Oh my god," Jasper said, letting out a big sigh. "He is known for being creepy, but it's just something wrong with his brain that causes him to over analyze everything and have this crazy good memory where he can remember every detail about everyone he's ever met. And on top of all of that bullshit, he loves to say it with that creepy smile. So I apologize on his behalf; I promise he is not always like this."
I nodded.
There is something wrong with his brain? That's interesting.
I turned back to the board.
I wonder if all demons are like that or just big horns.
I mean, my dad's a big horn, and I'm half demon, but I genuinely know nothing about big horns or demons at all, for that matter.
I squinted at the board; maybe it would do me some good to actually pay attention.
Okay, there are three types of demons: small horned demons, medium horned demons, and big horned demons.
Wait, isn't this potions class? Why are we learning about the basics of demons? Whatever, no one cares; I didn't pay attention in the classes where we learned about it anyway.
"You're finally paying attention," Jasper teased, nudging me slightly.
I nodded as he laughed.
Demon society is broken into a few parts.
Humans are the lowest, and the elite big horns are the highest.
And I'm assuming–NO, I know my dad is an elite.
My eyes scanned the board.
Oh, I didn't even notice the half-demon section.
It's broken off from the rest of the pyramid…isolated and alone, like an anomaly or…something I have been my whole life.
I watched as the teacher erased the board and went on to a new topic.
Life essence.
Okay, so I know a couple things about life essence…okay, wait, I am lying; all I know is humans have it, and I don't because my dad is a big horn…or at least that's what I have been told all my life.
I look up at the board.
Oh!
Everyone has life essences.
"I know that may be a surprise to all of my big horns in the room," the teacher said, looking around. "But lucky for you all, only some big horns emit it."
I heard movement all around the room as people turned to whisper to their friends sitting next to them.
"And on the topic of life essences. I have a question for my big horns. Since you all are the only people who need life essence to live, how do you get yours?" The teacher asked.
I watched the Big Horns in my class raise their hands one by one, answering the same way every time.
Humans. Humans. HUMANS.
Then I watched as Vincent raised his hand slowly. "My significant other."
I watched as the teacher nodded. "Are they human?" She asked, and then Jasper aggressively patted Vincent's leg.
"No," He responded.
"A small horn?"
"No."
The teacher gave him a weird look. "A big horn?"
Vincent nodded with this creepy ass smile on his face.
FUCK, he gives me the chills.
"Hm, that's an interesting thought, but I'm not sure…big horns don't usually give off life essences."
"My partner does," Vincent said, and his big, beady, sunk-in eyes got wider and wider.
God, he keeps getting scarier and scarier.
Jasper raised his hand. "Yes?" The teacher asked, calling on him.
"Could it be possible that this may all be in his head and he doesn't ACTUALLY gain anything?" I heard the class start to laugh as Vincent slipped his hand between Jasper's back and the chair.
"You can't make up the feeling of life essences, so I guess that works?" The teacher said, and then she continued, and I went back to taking my notes.
Most big-horned demons' horns get bigger when they suck life essence out of someone. And the aftereffects usually leave victims slightly fatigued, but it eventually goes away.
Some special symptoms usually include fatigue and hunger.
"And some very rare ones, with only a few reported cases, have been called arousal fear."
And what the FUCK does that mean?
"Basically, when demons go to suck life essences out of someone, which can be done by eye contact, sexual intercourse, or kissing, with the two most used being neck kisses and sexual intercourse. The human, since only human cases of arousal fear have been reported, is said to have dropped to their knees with this crazy sexual feeling."
Thank god I don't have life essences, or that would have been VERY bad.
The teacher continued to talk.
This is all actually pretty interesting, but it raises a question of if my dad was planning to send me to an all-demon school, why the hell didn't he teach me any of this? Like, I know he's been planning this since he and my mom got a divorce because he's a planner. But why?
Does he want to shield me from the other half of me by pretending it doesn't exist? Like two demons literally raised me; how does that help anyone?
I looked over at my new favorite couple in school.
I wonder if they hide their relationship because they are both big-horned demons…or because they are…both men.
I sighed.
I think it's because they are both men. After all this time in our world, it is not very accepting of that kind of relationship, and even more so because they are demons.
Also, they are the second gay couple I have ever seen in my life, besides my dad and Theo, and shit, I found out they were together when I was FOURTEEN.
I heard the teacher start to wrap up her lesson and everyone started to get up and leave.
I watched my favorite couple pack all of their stuff up as I did the same. Then, as we walked out of the classroom, I watched Vincent's hand rest on Jasper's ass.
Wow guys…so cute.
Jasper turned around and waved to me, and then the two of them went their separate ways.
Well, I guess it's my turn.
I made my way to my next class. I opened the door; the room felt tense, AND I felt that weird pulling again.
I gulped as the whispering started
God, it's making me feel awful.
I walked to a seat near the back of the class and put my bag in the seat next to me.
"Is that the human?"
If you are going to whisper, BE QUIET.
"Yeah, Nate said he was."
"Why is he here if he's a human?"
"It's because his dad's one of the top donors."
"Lucien Veyne?"
"The one and only."
"Wait, then why is his son a human?"
"He's half."
"Then where are his horns? If he's half demon, he at least has to have some demon traits."
They want me to hear them talking, I swear.
I watched as two more people walked over to gossip.
I rolled my eyes.
Yeah, they want me to hear them.
"He's a mystery," One of them said, and the laughter that followed made me want to die.
"Nate said that his dad left his mom for a man." Ohhhhh, so that's who told Vincent that?
I heard the laughter again.
I gulped
God, I want to curl up in a ball and fucking die right now.
I looked down at the notes that I had taken from the last class.
The more lies that spread out of people's mouths, the more I heard the name…Nate.
And with it a pull.
Nate.
And another pull.
Nate.
And another pull.
Nate.
Each time I heard that name, I felt something in me pull.
I shook my head slowly
I can't explain it. I really can't, but it's a…pull.
"Hi Nate." I looked up. Is this one of Vincent's friends?
I turned my attention to Nate; that bitch wanted me to hear him.
He turned to look at me, then mumbled something to the guy standing in front of him, and they started to…laugh.
I'm gonna kick this bitches ass.
Where is this fucking teacher at?
My eyes scanned the classroom.
Great, not here yet.
I stood up.
"You got something to say, say it to my face," I said.
Nate turned around. "You talking to me?"
I walked towards him. "What do you think?"
He stood up with a smile. "I don't know, usually people like you wouldn't dare."
People like me?
I rolled my eyes.
This guy is not real.
He started to walk towards me, but I didn't move and continued to stare him down.
"Say it to my face."
He didn't say anything.
"If you can't, then don't do it behind my back," I said, raising my eyebrow at him.
He gave me this weird look, and I watched as his horns shrank a little bit.
Then he turned around and went to sit down as I did the same.
Bitch.
After that whole boring ass class, the bell finally rang, and I pulled out my phone.
Then I put my stuff in my bag as I clicked on Theo's contact.
I put the phone to my ear, and I walked towards the door.
"Hi, my sugar plum."
"Hi, Theo. Uh, according to my schedule, I have basketball tryouts right now, so I might need you to pick me up later."
I walked down the hallway towards what was hopefully the gym.
"Okay, honey, what time?"
"I don't know, I will text you," I said.
"Okay, bye, I love you." And just like that, the line went dead.
I don't have a change of clothes, so I am going to play basketball…in jorts, sambas, and this random wife beater I have on under my outfit.
I pushed open the door to the locker room, making my way out into the gym.
Oh, it's Jasper.
"Hi Jasper," I said.
Then he turned around and smiled at me. "You play basketball?"
"I did, but I didn't think my dad wanted me to do it again," I said.
Jasper threw the basketball at me, and I started dribbling it.
"Where's homeboy?" I asked.
Jasper raised his eyebrow.
"Yo man," I said, and Jasper gave me this disgusted look.
Hey, you are the one dating him, not me.
"He's somewhere. Hiding from me, I guess," Jasper said, and I threw the ball back to him.
"Okay," I heard a voice fill up the room, and Jasper and I stopped dribbling and turned our attention to it.
Oh, it's the coach. "Welcome to basketball tryouts. I am going to keep it simple. Most of you won't make it. We have 12 spots and one team, so I just want to see your skills right now," he said.
Then he announced what crazy drills we had to do, and we got started.
"Why are you kind of built?" Jasper asked.
We were partners for the first drills, much to his man's dismay.
"Me?"
"Yes, bro."
"I have been doing basketball since I was young as well as boxing, but other than that I don't really work out."
I quickly stole the ball from him and made a layup.
Then I watched as all of the balls flew into the air over to the coach.
Ah nah, what the fuck?
"Enchanted ball, y'all know the drill," Coach said.
I looked at him, confused.
No, in fact, I don't know the drill.
I quickly grabbed one of the balls, and it felt oddly light.
Then I started to dribble it, and I shot it.
I quickly made my way over to someone else and snatched the ball from them, but this time it was heavier.
And basically, all of the tryout was like this: just weird magical shit. Well, until the scrimmage.
In preparation for it, we were divided into two teams, and all I care about is that I was with Jasper.
"Vincent, Jasper, come do the tip-off," Coach called out.
The two of them walked over, with Vincent being taller than Jasper.
Then I watched as Jasper mumbled something to him, and he jumped up in the air, tipping it to another person on our team.
Oh god, I hate basketball so much. Of course no one would pass it to me because I am human.
"Can you shoot, human?" Someone on my team asked.
Sadly, I can.
I nodded.
Just outright throw it to me then.
I jumped up, grabbed it, and I quickly got out of the way of the demon barreling at me.
3-point swish baby, what it do.
I ran backward as I felt the coach's eyes on me.
Then I felt someone shove me hard.
Bitch.
Who the fuck is shoving me right now?
I looked up.
MOTHER FUCKER. It's this stupid Nate fuck.
"Bitch hop off. I don't even have the ball," I mumbled, and he just laughed at me as one of his teammates passed him the ball.
I tried to guard him; actually, I didn't try. He's extremely tall and has super literally everything, so…I didn't try at all, but maybe I could.
My eyes squinted, and then I reached up and yanked one of his horns down.
Give me that mother fucking ball, fuck face.
I quickly started dribbling down the court, then I felt my arms get pinned to my side, and my legs lift off the ground.
Oh FUCK no.
All that, and the fucking basketball is still in my hands. Man, you suck.
Another thing, magic has to be illegal in games because I don't even know how to fight this off.
I mean, normally, this shit doesn't even work on me; why now?
"Nate! Put him down!" I heard Coach yell.
GOD, I KNEW IT WAS THAT BITCH.
And just like that, I felt myself drop to the ground.
As soon as my feet hit the floor, I quickly made a layup, and then I turned back to smile at fuming Nate.
So making enemies on the first day of school isn't necessarily a good thing, but the 3 friends I made cancel it out.
Oh, and I guess maybe counting Vincent, that's 4…wait, just kidding, I am not counting his ass.
I rolled my eyes and let out a long sigh while running up and down the court.
Holy fuck, how long are these damn tryouts?
"2 more minutes, and then y'all can make your way back over to the benches!"
THANK YOUUU.
Just a few more minutes, I can do this.
"You good?" Jasper mumbled, laughing.
"I don't have crazy demon strength," I said, and Jasper passed the ball to me.
Oh god, I'm actually sweating right now.
Then, just like earlier, I felt something trunk into me as I dribbled the ball.
Bitch.
I looked up, and there stupid Nate was.
Then the two of us locked eyes, and I watched his horns grow.
Oh fuck.
No.
Oh my god.
I felt myself drop to my knees.
I thought I didn't…I don't have.
How?
I felt my eyes start to get heavy as a heat slowly took over my body.
My body.
God, I feel dizzy and really weak.
But for some reason it doesn't hurt.
It's just…It feels like something else, like I need something else.
I look up at Nate, who is stumbling back and looks horrified.
"Dude, dude," A voice said as my hearing started to come back.
I looked around in my blurry vision.
Was that Jasper?
"Jasper?" I called out.
"You okay? Why'd you fall?"
Oh god.
I felt my arms go numb and I.
"Help. Help me," I mumbled.
My vision fully returned as the heat started to get worse and worse.
I turned my attention to Nate, who watched me with fear in his eyes, absolutely horrified.
"Jas… Jasper."
I felt someone lift me up like a princess
I looked up. It was…Vincent.
Then the two of us made eye contact, but nothing happened.
Why? Why does it happen with him?
Jasper looked horrified as Vincent carried me.
"Awful first day of school," I mumbled.
Vincent laughed. "You're okay."
As soon as we made our way more into the locker room, Vincent put me down on a bench, and I felt myself cooling down.
Then I watched as the coach slowly walked over to me.
I sat up and looked at him.
"Are you feeling okay?" He asked.
He was only checking on me because my dad was loaded.
"Uh yeah, just a little dazed."
"Okay…please be careful," he mumbled, and I nodded.
"I would also like to welcome the three of you to our basketball team." Yay, that's…great? If only I wasn't completely out of my mind right now.
"We have never had a human on the basketball team," Vincent said.
I forgot that all of them know each other because they have been together for so long.
I gave Vincent a weird look.
"Baby, where's Nate?" Jasper mumbled over to Vincent.
Vincent looked around and shrugged. "I don't know; he looked really like distraught."
Distraught? Bitch I am distraught. Did we ever think about that?
Whatever. "I'm going home."
"Do you have a car?"
I shook my head. "My stepdad drives me around."
Vincent turned and gave me a weird look. "Stepdad?"
Bruh. "You were literally spreading rumors about me that my dad left my mom for a man; why are you shocked?"
I stood up slowly and rolled my neck in a circle.
I felt a little out of it, but I'll be okay.
"I'll see y'all tomorrow," I said, and I waved to both of them.
Then I slowly shuffled, made my way to the door, and the pulling started up again.
I turned and got a quick glance of Nate walking past me to go to the locker room.
I felt my heartbeat pick up.
God, now my heart was pounding out of my chest. I need to go.
This isn't real.
I just need to go home and never come back.
