Chapter 68 - Chapter 68: Causing chaos on the moon.

On the Moon of the shinobi world, chaos had erupted when an unknown presence appeared without warning and began a brutal massacre that no one was able to resist. The Ōtsutsuki clan that lived there reacted late and poorly, for in reality they were nothing more than a remnant of the original lineage founded by Hamura over a thousand years ago.

A millennium ago, Hamura and Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki had managed to seal the body of their mother, Kaguya Ōtsutsuki, using a Six Paths Rinnegan technique: Chibaku Tensei, which gave rise to the enormous rocky satellite that would eventually become the Moon. After that, Hagoromo divided the Ten-Tails into the nine tailed beasts, leaving behind only an empty shell, the Gedo Statue.

Hamura decided to take that shell with him and settle on the Moon, where he founded the lunar Ōtsutsuki clan. At the same time, the descendants he left on Earth multiplied over the centuries, eventually forming the Hyūga clan, which would later integrate into Konoha.

The Ōtsutsuki clan on the Moon developed a social structure very similar to that of their earthly relatives. Their population was divided into a main clan representing the elite and a branch clan occupying the lowest position. Over the centuries, resentment between the two factions grew steadily, until finally a civil war broke out that lasted for decades.

The outcome of that war was devastating for both sides. The lunar Ōtsutsuki clan was practically wiped out, and in the not-too-distant future, only a single individual would survive from this lineage: Toneri Ōtsutsuki.

Just as his brother Hagoromo had evolved the Sharingan to awaken the Rinnegan, Hamura had also taken his Byakugan one step further, giving rise to a special dōjutsu known as the Tenseigan. In the future, Toneri Ōtsutsuki would become the second individual capable of awakening this power by implanting Hanabi Hyūga's eyes.

To awaken these eyes, it was necessary to mix the chakra of Hamura's descendants from the Moon and the Earth, and to possess extremely pure Byakugan, whose genetics were as close as possible to Hamura's.

Hamura left his descendants on the Moon a weapon as a legacy: a recreation of his own Tenseigan in the form of a gigantic golden Tenseigan that functioned as the core of the Moon's inner biosphere.

To further increase its power, clan members on the verge of death offered their eyes as a sacrifice, giving them to the giant Tenseigan, where they were stored inside and steadily increased its strength.

During the civil war, the lunar Ōtsutsuki clan used that weapon to annihilate each other.

Currently, no more than twenty members of the branch clan remained, and none of them could be considered particularly powerful.

Although they all possessed the Byakugan, that dōjutsu was useless against the enormous red Susanoo that had appeared without warning inside their castle and had begun killing them one by one, not even giving them the opportunity to understand what was happening.

Noah left a single member of the Ōtsutsuki clan alive. Without saying a word, he tore off his four limbs, nullifying any possibility of resistance, and then opened the magic door and sent him to his laboratory.

Afterwards, he teleported and appeared directly in the Moon's core, where the enormous golden Tenseigan floated, illuminating the place with its constant glow.

Without stopping to observe it, Noah opened a spatial vortex directly beneath the giant eye, and the Tenseigan was completely absorbed, disappearing without a trace.

—How long do you plan to watch, old man?

Noah turned and fixed his gaze on a silent puppet that stood at a distance, motionless, having never attempted to interfere. The figure advanced and landed in front of him. Then its mouth opened, and from within emerged a brilliant sphere from which an ethereal figure took shape: an old man dressed in white, with a serene presence and deep gaze.

Hamura observed him in silence for a few seconds. Noah, for his part, simply waited with relaxed hands, no trace of tension.

—By the way —Noah said in a casual tone—, aren't you angry? I just wiped out the last remnants of your clan and took their greatest treasure as if nothing.

Hamura slowly shook his head.

—No —he replied calmly—. They stopped being my clan a long time ago. The branch members completely distorted my will. They confused protection with supremacy and concluded that the shinobi world must be destroyed to fulfill it. At this point, there was nothing left to preserve.

His gaze then shifted to Noah, becoming a bit sharper.

—Your chakra feels familiar. It's different, but I recognize its origin. It comes from my brother Hagoromo. You are his descendant.

Noah nodded without giving it much importance.

—That's right.

The direct answer made Hamura's expression change slightly, apparently surprised.

—It's not common for someone from your era to be aware of their roots.

—I don't see the mystery —Noah replied—. It's just another inheritance.

After a few more moments of calm conversation, Hamura stopped beating around the bush. His expression became a bit more serious, though without hostility.

—Then tell me something: What is your real goal? What do you plan to do with the Golden Tenseigan? Conquer the world?

As he spoke, his gaze did not leave Noah's eyes. One was a normal Byakugan, while the other was a Mangekyō Sharingan.

Noah let out a low laugh, as if the question struck him as more curious than offensive.

—Conquer the world? What great ambition, don't you think?

He shrugged naturally.

—But the only thing that interests me is becoming strong enough to travel freely through the universe. The shinobi world will eventually become too small for me. When I've fully grown, I'll have to leave it. Until then, I plan to live discreetly: become stronger, learn, master more jutsu, and gather treasures. When the time comes, I'll go explore the firmament. Nothing more.

He looked up into the void, as if already thinking beyond this place.

—Ruling this world, imposing my will, or playing at being a god… it doesn't interest me enough to bother.

Hamura watched him in silence, clearly surprised by the answer. Those ambitions were enormous, but he perceived neither arrogance nor madness in Noah. Only a quiet certainty, like that of someone who had already decided their path and didn't need to justify it to anyone.

Noah observed Hamura for a moment before speaking again, with the same relaxed tone he had maintained from the beginning.

—Tell me something: Would you… or rather your brother Hagoromo, be willing to make a deal with me in exchange for information?

Hamura raised an eyebrow slightly. The question was somewhat disconcerting to him.

—Information? —he repeated—. What could you possibly know that we don't?

The silence stretched for a few seconds. Hamura hesitated, assessing him, before asking him to be more specific.

—The true origins of Kaguya —Noah said—. And the dangers that her identity entails. Dangers that, sooner or later, are destined to return to this world.

Hamura's brow furrowed immediately. These words touched something sensitive. He did not answer immediately; instead, he closed his eyes, as if communicating with someone.

—Wait here —he murmured.

A few minutes passed before, alongside Hamura's projection, a second ethereal figure formed. Another old man dressed in white, with a serene bearing and deep gaze, appeared floating in the place.
