"It reminds me that I wanted to ask you something," Sonny said, looking across the table at Ezra. His voice was calm, but there was a clear focus in his eyes.
I gulped quietly. My mind started racing right away. What does he want to ask? And why all of a sudden? A small wave of uneasiness moved through my chest as I kept my eyes on him.
"Yeah, what is it about?" Ezra asked in a casual tone. He continued eating his seafood without looking too concerned, picking up another piece with his spoon.
"It's about work. You just said that you might have work tomorrow, right?" Sonny asked after swallowing his food. He rested his chopsticks for a moment and watched Ezra.
"Yeah, I might. I don't know yet. I usually get the call by night or so," Ezra replied, still chewing. He scooped another spoonful of food and kept his attention mostly on his plate.
"I see. Where do you work exactly, though?" Sonny asked, his voice steady. He went back to eating his own food while waiting for the answer.
