As we walked along the mall's busy lane, my mind was racing the whole time. The bright lights, the crowd of people, and the soft music playing from the speakers all felt distant because of the thoughts filling my head.
"Even though I am disgusted by his presence, I must eat my pride and sit with him and make him talk," I thought to myself. "I must know what he did to Aeri that night. Even Aeri seems to remember him now. She took his name. Is her memory also coming back?" The questions kept turning in my mind as we walked side by side.
I looked toward Aeri. At the same time, she turned her head to the left and looked at me. Our eyes met, and we both blinked at each other for a second.
