Chapter 73 - Chapter 66: Scars of Hosu

----------------------------------------------------

Beginning of Chapter

The flashing lights of ambulances painted the shattered entrance of the mall in waves of red and blue as the sun dipped over the horizon.

Smoke still drifted from the ruined lower floors, mixed with dust and the sharp scent of burning wires. Police officers moved in organized chaos, carrying out the wounded, securing civilians, and dragging unconscious terrorists into armored vehicles one by one.

White sheets covered the bodies of fallen officers near the barricades.

Some of the younger police officers stared silently at those covered forms as medics rushed past them, holding a moment of silence as they held their hands at their chests. Others avoided looking altogether.

The atmosphere had changed completely.

What had started as a hostage situation had become something far worse.

A terrorist attack.

A few meters away from the ruined entrance, Satoru Gojo sat atop the back of an ambulance, looking at his hand which Toji pierced with his dagger, healed with barely any scarring.

Gojo inhaled, letting out a deep breath as he stared blankly ahead while the medics went around.

Nearby, Kaminari sat near another ambulance with an oxygen mask hanging loosely around his neck while another medic checked his pulse.

"Ugh… my everything hurts…" Kaminari groaned weakly as the medical checked him.

Gojo got out of his ambulance with his hands stuffed in his pockets and walked over to Kaminari, glancing to the nearby news reporters' vans that just arrived.

The medic soon nodded his head as he took a few kits and jogged over to the rest near where the barricades were set up earlier for the hostages and injured officers.

"Yo, Kaminari," He paused as he looked him over, "It's good to see you're on your feet again," Gojo stated, looking at him.

"Barely," Kaminari replied dramatically before wincing from the pain in his ribs. "That guy seriously hit me like a truck…"

Gojo's expression dimmed slightly as he turned his head around, looking back towards the mall. 'His speed was insane. Outside a bullet he himself shot while still having all hay gear on.' Even now, replaying it in his head annoyed him.

Toji moved too fast for him to react. Then again, while Infinity perfectly counters any speed blitz, the manual activation he still does to activate his technique was a liability waiting to happen.

The thought bothered him more than he wanted to admit. What if one day someone would catch him off guard, what then? The worse case scenario played in his head over and over.

His hands balled into fists within his pockets, jaw clenching lightly as this irritated him. If he were to be the strongest, liabilities like this would make his goal nothing more than a pipedream in his eyes.

"... But the way we handled those… Wait, are you even listening to me, Gojo?" Kaminari asked, noticing Satoru hadn't answered or added to his complaints and personal insights of what happened.

"Yes, I agree with you Kaminari, you said words and, I mean they were words." Gojo let out a sigh and shrugged, a calm smile replacing his expression as Kaminari hit his shoulder for ignoring him.

Meanwhile, a group of discussing officers near the two suddenly parted ways as Endeavor approached the ambulance area, his flames burning lower than usual.

Burnin walked beside him, holding her injured arm, while Manual limped behind the two heroes with several bandages wrapped around his torso.

The hero Iron Stride was being loaded unconscious into another ambulance nearby.

Gojo noticed Burnin immediately, and she looked furious.

"Satoru Gojo." The way she said his full name already told him enough.

"Ah… there it is," Gojo sighed. He glanced to Kaminari before turning to face the three heroes.

Burnin stopped directly in front of him, arms crossed tightly.

"What the hell was that stunt?" she snapped. "Are you telling me you seriously created and let out weird black, blue hole move of yours inside the mall and caused this much damage to it?!"

She pointed to the destroyed mall entrance, giving a clear sight into the mess of rubble and debris that was ripped from the floor and walls.

Inside, officers looked around while Shoto froze one terrorist who woke up and called for the Police Chief.

"Pseudo black hole, and it's called Laspe Blue… That was the more powerful version," Gojo corrected casually.

"That is not helping your case! Sure, cool move, but Satoru Gojo, you still endangered people, not to mention destruction to public property?" A few nearby officers nodded in agreement.

Endeavor stood behind her, staring at Gojo without having said a single word so far.

Gojo raised both hands in surrender. "In my defense, the terrorist mercenary psychopath was trying to kill us." Kaminari meanwhile, behind Gojo, simply held his laugh, something that was becoming increasingly harder with each of Gojo's responses.

Manual stepped forward before Burnin could continue further. "We're not blaming you for defending yourselves," he said calmly. "But this situation escalated beyond anything we expected."

Before Gojo could even answer, finally Endeavor opened his mouth to speak. "Burnin, Manual. I need to speak to the boy alone." Both of the two heroes glanced at Endeavor before promptly leaving, Burning giving Gojo a sideye as he gave a friendly grin.

Affer they walked away, Endeavor cleared his throat as he began. "You said Toji Fushiguro was apart of it. You were sloppy, the damages you done will have to come out of Butnins pocket, which is why she's the most upset here.

But I must ask… Are you certain you witnessed Toji Fushiguro." Endeavor said in a serious tone. I saw a blur, considering what we know of his quirk, it seems to fit the description a lot. Can you say for certain?"

Gojo's expression turned more serious. "Toji Fushiguro did this." Kaminari behind him grunted in agreement. "I was down for the counter but I barely heard him state he was Toji."

Endeavor let out a sigh, "This is much worse than initially. A Chinese terrorist attack with a world class mercenary. The politics of this… Not to mention you'll have to be part of the report to the Hero Commission about this. Is there anything else, any information at all?"

Gojo nodded "He introduced himself. Knew who I was, too. Not surprising since the sports festival was on live television, he seems to have done his research.

If he knew who I was, he probably knew the rest of my class. I doubt he's finished any of his. He also mentioned that the person who hired him was not going to be happy."

Endeavor frowned as he turned around, his flames flickering as he stood there, the night approaching quickly.

"That bastard disappeared before we could corner him. He took out every sniper team on the upper levels before they even realized what was happening. He moved through entire floors without anyone detecting him.

When I rushed in to follow, I could barely even catch a glance at him before I heard gunshots and he vanished. The officers near me were hit.

The fact that someone like him was working alongside foreign terrorists…" his flames began to crackle harsher, "…means this wasn't random." His hand balled into a fist as he walked away, leaving the two teens.

"So, guess that means we stopped a terrorist attack. That'll be something to brag about, am I right?" Kaminari cleared his throat as he raised a thumb to his puffed out chest, fighting the pain in his side.

Gojo glanced back at him as he grinned. "Id say that's a great mission we get to show off to the others."

He put a hand on his shoulder as he looked at him. "You did great there, Raijin. Can't wait to see the rest of your moves, you have to show me sometime."

He saw Kaminari glance to he bodies of the dead officers. "Gojo. I won't lie… Is this a win? I can't help but… What if those men had families…"

Gojos looked at Kaminari, the fear that replaced his smile. "Well… Thats where we come in. One day, we'll be heros so strong, none of those men have to be in danger."

He said calmly to Kaminari as he pat his shoulder. "One day, we'll make sure stuff like this doesn't happen in the first place."

Meanwhile, to the other side of the mall entrance, Endeavor and the police chief stood in front of a suited man who held an open laptop.

On the screen was a blacked out screen with the letters HPSC across the screen. "Endeavor, give a brief report. A sentence or two will be enough." Said a female voice.

"Madame Kamizono, Chinese terrorist attack with Toji Fushiguro involved with a few police officers killed in action." Endeavor said, wasting no time.

The silence from Kamizono was long until she finally responded. "Higuruma will come with Hawks. I want everyone involved to write a report of this and have it sent to my commission by the end of the week. I'll have the media spin and altered version, and i gice my apologises to the chief. End call."

The agent closed the laptop and walked away, the police officer turned to Endeavor. "Thank you for your assistance, while we couldn't get him, thank you for showing up."

Endeavor gave him a nod, "It's my job. I apologise myself i did not areoce earlier." He looked towards he covered up bodies. "Im sure those were fine men."

The chief sighed as he glanced back, "Fine men, you did the best you could when you got here. Best no to dwell on the past but to honour their deaths and get that bastard." He spat out shaking his fist at his side.

Elsewhere…

On the other side of Hosu, atop of a skyscraper, purple mist began to form on the roof

The warp gate opened, stepping out was Shigaraki, followed by Ryomen and Kurogiri, as the gate remained open behind them.

Ryomen took a deep breath in and let it out as he spoke. "God, how much I missed actually fresh air and not your dirty pub."

Shigaraki ignored his jab as he walks to the edge to look over the ci

"... Hosu. Stain, I must admit, you have a beautiful city, one that sadly has to pay the price for your disrespect. He spoke softly, with a grin on his face.

"Shiggy shut up, you're being an edgy teenager." Ryomen said in a monotone voice as he pulled a cigarette and a lighter from his pants.

Shigaraki frowned, yet ignored his jab. In recent days, he has found it simpler to disregard his comments rather than respond to them.

He lifted his hand and snapped his fingers.

Immediately, three large Nomu appeared. One was extremely muscular and tall while missing the top half of its head, brain exposed and protected by a see through cover.

The other one, even taller and even more muscular, resembled Brainless, yet had no lower jaw, and the last one, while tall, was skinny with flaps of skin connecting its arms and body down to his waist.

Even standing dormant, the Nomus presence felt monstrous.

Shigaraki's fingers twitched excitedly. "The fact master let me have two High Ends nomu… Oh I am forever in his debt." He ended with a crazed grin.

"…And one mid-level Nomu," Shigaraki continued while scratching his neck violently. "Master really trusts me now."

Sukuna sat nearby on the ledge, one leg crossed over the other while resting his cheek against his fist.

"Hm." One of his eyes glanced lazily toward Nomu "I agree. That old man's being unusually generous." He said with a smile. 'Perhaps he's going with my idea I proposed…'

Shigaraki laughed quietly. "Good… Because now… I can finally start breaking the people who deserve it properly."

Elsewhere through the streets of Hosu as the night had continued its march to dominate the skies, Tenya Iida moved carefully across the empty streets in full costume.

His brother's fate after a horrible run in with the Hero killer Stain still lingered heavily in his thoughts. The call he had gotten.

The news of his death. His inability to even say his final goodbyes This patrol now felt personal. Every shadow made his jaw tighten.

"Hero. Killer. Stain." He whispered under his lips, ignoring the waves of civilians as he marched onwards.

After refusing to assist Manual, he left immediately to patrol every alleyway of the city.

He breathed heavily, exhausted from the past hours of running and walking, but he couldn't stop now.

He needed revenge against the hero killer, the man who took his brother away. Immediately dashing forward, he activated his quirk and ran through the countless alleyways.

He checked dozens upon dozens of places, triangulated every kill, every incident.

He deactivated his quirk, coming to a slow halt, hearing what appeared to be fighting down the alley. He cleared his throat, saying, "Perhaps they would know a thing or two about his whereabouts."

"These thugs will do." He said with anger. Blinded by his rage, he stomped down the alley, fists at his sides as he yells out. "Whatever the scuffle is about, I ord-..."

As he got closer, the words got stuck in his throat. There was the Pro hero, Native, on the ground pinned with a long and serrated katana in his shoulder.

The man sitting on top of his chest glanced up at Iida as he held a bloody dagger to his lips.

"Beat it… You know what, on second thought… You look familiar."
